In this paper, the design, simulations, and experimental results related to new analog circuits for voltage controlled synthetic inductors (VCSI) are presented. The new circuits based on a generalized impedance converter (GIC) are proposed for adaptive resonant piezoelectric shunt damping. The VCSIs are implemented using (1) an analog multiplier and (2) an operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) as voltage-controlled resistor. The simulation and experimental results for the new proposed VCSIs are presented and a comparative analysis follows. The proposed VCSIs work in a stable manner in parallel with negative impedance converters (NIC) to enhance structural damping in resonant piezoelectric resistive-inductive shunt applications. The behavior of the synthetic inductor is identical to a real inductor only in a specific frequency range and this situation can explain the reported spreading performance in the literature for resonant piezoelectric shunt damping. The simulation results are validated by a group of experimental investigations that confirm the improved stability and linearity of the new circuits proposed as VCSIs. Experimental results show that the VCSI based on an analog multiplier have an enhanced linearity in comparison with the OTA version in a limited voltage control range.

Analog circuits fault diagnosis using multifractal analysis is presented in this paper. The faulty response of circuit under test is analyzed by multifratal formalism, and the fault feature consists of multifractal spectrum parameters. Support vector machine is used to identify the faults. Experimental results prove the proposed method is effective and the diagnosis accuracy reaches 98%.

AbstractIn this paper various shapes of DR antennas excited by common feed have been proposed and successfully implemented for wideband applications. Proposed structures are Hemispherical, Arrow-shaped and Triangular DRA, while common excited feed is inverted trapezoidal conformal patch. These shapes of DR offer significant optimization in several parameters such as impedance bandwidth, peak gain and bandwidth per unit volume of the antenna. By using inverted trapezoidal patch feed mechanism an impedance bandwidth (VSWR<2) of about 63 % for hemispherical shape, 66 % for arrow shape, and 72 % for triangular shape DRA has been achieved with maximum bandwidth per unit volume. Proposed wideband DRAs i. e. triangular, hemispherical, and arrow shapes of DR antennas cover almost complete C-band (4 GHz–8 GHz) frequency spectrum of microwave. The average peak gain within the operating band for hemispherical, arrow, and triangular shape DRA are about 5, 5.4, and 5.5 dB respectively. A comparative analysis of proposed structures for various antenna parameters has been analyzed by HFSS (High-Frequency Structure Simulator) and validated by experimental results.

Blades of axial flow compressors are often roughened by corrosion or erosion. There is only scant information about the influence of this roughening on the boundary layers of the blades and thereby on the compressor efficiency. To obtain detailed information for calculating the efficiency drop due to the roughness, experimental investigations with an enlarged cascade have been executed. The results enabled to develop new formulas for a modified friction coefficient in the laminar region and for the laminar-turbulent transition and the separation points of the boundary layer. Thus, together with the Truckenbrodt theory, it was possible, to get a good reproduction of the experimental results.

Shunt damping of structures has been heavily researched, both passively and actively. Negative capacitance shunts actively control vibration on a structure and have been shown to obtain significant broadband suppression. The use of smaller piezoelectric patches, implemented in a periodic array, can alter the behavior of the control. Assorted shunt arrangements as well as circuit configurations will be investigated. Experimental results will be compared to theoretical predictions of shunt performance.

Investigation of the influence of the peculiarities of raw material composition and structure of traditional and innovative linen textile materials on their hygienic properties. Theoretical and experimental investigations are based on the main positions of textile materials science. In experimental studies, modern standardized methods for determining the hygienic properties of textile materials were used, as well as techniques specially developed taking into account the peculiarities of the operating conditions of underwear. The peculiarities of the operating conditions and the basic functions of hospital underwear were determined. The comparative analysis of hygienic properties of traditional and modern fabrics for underwear was carried out. Using the standardized and the developed methods, adapted to the peculiarities of the conditions of use of the products, the indicators characterizing the processes of water absorption of the materials were experimentally determined. On the basis of the obtained values of quality indicators, a comprehensive assessment of the ability of materials to transfer moisture and air, with the calculation of the arithmetic complex quality index was done. This allowed to determine the material that is optimal in properties, which provides thermophysiological comfort when operating hospital underwear. Using the developed methods, which take into account the specifics of the operating conditions, a comparative analysis of the hygienic properties of traditional and innovative materials for underwear was carried out. A new range of textile materials for underwear has been proposed, taking into account the peculiarities of the operational situation of consumption.
