In this paper we analyse static properties of mass spring models (MSMs) with the focus of modelling non crystalline materials, and explore basic improvements, which can be made to MSMs with disordered point placement. Presented techniques address the problem of high variance of MSM properties which occur due to randomised nature of point distribution. The focus is placed on tuning spring parameters in a way which would compensate for local non-uniformity of point and spring density. We demonstrate that a simple force balancing algorithm can improve properties of the MSM on a global scale, while a more detailed stress distribution analysis is needed to achieve local scale improvements. Considered MSMs are three dimensional.

The relevance of multidimensional and porous crystalline materials to nuclear waste remediation and storage applications has motivated exploratory research focused on materials discovery of compounds, such as actinide mixed-oxoanion phases, which exhibit rich structural chemistry. The novel phase K1.8Na1.2[(UO2)BSi4O12] has been synthesized using hydrothermal methods, representing the first example of a uranyl borosilicate. The three-dimensional structure crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Cmce with lattice parameters a = 15.5471(19) Å, b = 14.3403(17) Å, c = 11.7315(15) Å, and V = 2615.5(6) Å3, and is composed of UO6 octahedra linked by [BSi4O12]5− chains to form a [(UO2)BSi4O12]3− framework. The synthesis method, structure, results of Raman, IR, and X-ray absorption spectroscopy, and thermal stability are discussed.

ABSTRACT During the development of new seismic data processing methods, the verification of potential events and associated signals can present a nontrivial obstacle to the assessment of algorithm performance, especially as detection thresholds are lowered, resulting in the inclusion of significantly more anthropogenic signals. Here, we present two 14 day seismic event catalogs, a local‐scale catalog developed using data from the University of Utah Seismograph Stations network, and a global‐scale catalog developed using data from the International Monitoring System. Each catalog was built manually to comprehensively identify events from all sources that were locatable using phase arrival timing and directional information from seismic network stations, resulting in significant increases compared to existing catalogs. The new catalogs additionally contain challenging event sequences (prolific aftershocks and small events at the detection and location threshold) and novel event types and sources (e.g., infrasound only events and long‐wall mining events) that make them useful for algorithm testing and development, as well as valuable for the unique tectonic and anthropogenic event sequences they contain.

Social photo-sharing sites like Flickr contain vast amounts of latent information about the world and human behavior. The authors describe their recent work in building automatic algorithms that analyze large collections of imagery in order to extract some of this information. At a global scale, geo-tagged photographs can be used to identify the most photographed places on Earth, as well as to infer the names and visual representations of these places. At a local scale, the authors build detailed 3D models of a scene by combining information from thousands of 2D photographs taken by different people and from different vantage points.

Antivirus software industry is growing rapidly in the world in 2018. The domestic antivirus software industrymust be able to compete on a global scale. To face free trade, Indonesia's antivirus software industry must be able toknow its position in the minds of consumers, especially domestic consumers. In this research, Smadav will representthe antivirus software industry from Indonesia. In this research want to know how the position of smadav comparedwith its current competitors, namely Avast, Avira, AVG, Kaspersky, McAfee and Norton. This research is only done tomap antivirus software based on similarity according to respondent's perception. This research uses Multidimensionalscaling (MDS) method through SPSS software program version 23. The results showed that there are three groups ofdifferent antivirus software based on similarity level according to the respondent's perception. On the two-dimensionaland three-dimensional maps Norton antivirus software, Avast and Avira have similar resemblance according to therespondent's perception, because the location is closest and is in the same quadrant. Smadav differs according toperceptions of respondents. AVG, McAfee and Kaspersky have similarities according to respondents' perceptions.

The anomalous vibrational behaviour exhibited by non-crystalline materials - a peak in the vibrational density of states, and in the Raman spectrum (the boson peak) at low frequencies, and a peak in the heat capacity and a plateau in the thermal conductivity at low temperatures - is ascribed ta phonon localization associated with the strong scattering of phonons by density-fluctuation domains in the structure. Within such domains, short-range and medium-range arder is maintained, and outside them the material is structurally homogeneous and isotropie. This model can also explain the correlation between the boson-peak frequency and the position of the first sharp diffraction peak in the structure factor observed in a number of inorganie and polymerie amorphous solids.
