Spatial Patterns of Urban Innovation and Their Evolution from Perspectives of Capacity and Structure: Taking Shenzhen as an Example

Innovation is a key factor for a country’s overall national strength and core competitiveness. The spatial pattern of innovation reflects the regional differences of innovation development, which can provide guidance for the regional allocation of innovation resources. Most studies on the spatial pattern of innovation are at urban and above spatial scale, but studies at urban internal scale are insufficient. The precision and index of the spatial pattern of innovation in the city needs to be improved. This study proposes to divide spatial units based on geographic coordinates of patents, designs the innovation capability and innovation structure index of a spatial unit and their calculation methods, and then reveals the spatial patterns of innovation and their evolutionary characteristics in Shenzhen during 2000–2018. The results show that: (1) The pattern of innovation capacity of secondary industry exhibited a pronounced spatial spillover effect with a positive spatial correlation. The innovation capacity and innovation structure index of the secondary industry evolved in a similar manner; i.e., they gradually extended from the southwest area to the north over time, forming a tree-like distribution pattern with the central part of the southwest area as the “root” and the northwest and northeast areas as the “canopy”. (2) The pattern of innovation capacity of tertiary industry also had a significant spatial spillover effect with a positive spatial correlation. There were differences between the evolutions of innovation capacity and innovation structure index of tertiary industry. Specifically, its innovation capacity presented a triangular spatial distribution pattern with three groups in the central and eastern parts of the southwest area and the south-eastern part of the northwest area as the vertices, while its innovative structure showed a radial spatial distribution pattern with the southwestern part of the southwest area as the source and a gradually sparse distribution toward the northeast. (3) There were differences between the evolution modes of secondary and tertiary industries. Areas with high innovation capacity in the secondary industry tended to be more balanced, while areas with high innovation capacity in the tertiary industry did not necessarily have a balanced innovation structure. Through the method designed in this paper, the spatial pattern of urban innovation can be more precise and comprehensive revealed, and provide useful references for the development of urban innovation.

Objectives: The Sichuan-Tibet Scenic Byway is one of the most well-known scenic byway in China. Researching on the mechanism of action between the routes and tourism resources nodes of the Sichuan-Tibet Scenic Byway network, will benefit the Sichuan-Tibet Scenic Byway’s development by changing the development patterns of the Scenic Byway from “point-line” to network, and will be helpful to promote the integration of tourism resources along the route, furthermore to construct the Sichuan-Tibet Scenic Byway as a destination of all-for-one tourism. Methods: Based on the spatial design network analysis (sDNA model), GIS spatial analysis and other methods, the current study analyzed regional tourism resources and the spatial characteristics of road network morphology along the Sichuan-Tibet Scenic Byway, and explored the influence of road network forms on the spatial distribution of tourism resources and its spatial spillover effect by combining with spatial econometric model. Results: The distribution pattern of tourism resources along the Sichuan-Tibet Scenic Road is “dense at both ends and sparse in the middle”, and the “Matthew Effect” is significant. The spatial structure of road network varies significantly at different scales; at the global scale, the spatial structure shows “one axis and two cores”, at the local scale, it shows "two cores and multiple nodes"; Every road network variable has spatial spillover effect on the distribution of tourism resources. The global scale Closeness (NQPDE) has significant positive direct effect and negative spillover effect on tourism resources distribution. Every 1% increase in local closeness will promote an increase of 0.811% and -0.99% in the distribution of local and adjacent tourism resources, respectively. Betwenness (TPBTE) has significant positive direct effect and positive spillover effect on the distribution of tourism resources. Every 1% increase in local betwenness will promote an increase of 0.337% and 1.860% in the distribution of local and adjacent tourism resources, respectively. Conclusions: The distribution of tourism resources along the Sichuan-Tibet Scenic Byway’s shows significant “Matthew Effect”. The spatial structure of the Sichuan-Tibet Scenic Byway network varies significantly at different scales. At the global scale, firstly, it has better accessibility and centrality, which is more attractive to the global road network; secondly, the road network is more traversable, which means it bears greater traffic volume, which is more inconsistent with the actual High-grade highways bear more long-distance traffic flows to match; thirdly, they distribution of tourism resources are generally in line with the spatial orientation of National Highway 318. Traffic conditions are an indispensable and important condition for promoting the healthy development of the distribution of regional tourism resources. Closeness (NQPDE) is an important factor affecting the spatial distribution and growth potential of local tourism resources, but it will relatively weaken the development opportunities and cost advantages of tourism resources in neighboring regions, and inhibit the distribution of tourism resources in neighboring regions. Betwenness (TPBtE) is the key to promote global tourism, especially the rapid transportation system can accelerate the integration and reconstruction of tourism elements. This study aims to promote the sound development of the Sichuan-Tibet Scenic Byway network layout and the distribution of regional tourism resources in the post-epidemic era, and to provide reference for the spatial planning of tourism transportation and the optimal allocation of tourism elements.

The cultivated land use eco-efficiency (CLUE) is an important indicator to evaluate ecological civilization construction in China. Research on the spatial-temporal pattern and evolution trend of the CLUE can help to assess the level of ecological civilization construction and reveal associated demonstration and driving effects on surrounding areas. Based on the perspective of the CLUE, this paper obtains cultivated land use data pertaining to National Pilot Zones for Ecological Conservation in China and neighboring provinces from 2008 to 2018. In this study, the SBM-undesirable, Moran’s I, and Markov chain models are adopted to quantitatively measure and analyze the CLUE and its temporal and spatial patterns and evolution trend. The research results indicate that the CLUE in the whole study area exhibited the characteristics of one growth, two stable, and two decline stages, with a positive spatial autocorrelation that increased year by year, and a spatial spillover effect was observed. Geographical spatial patterns and spatial spillover effects played a major role in the evolution of the CLUE, and there occurred a higher probability of improvement in the vicinity of cities with high CLUE values. In the future, practical construction experience should be disseminated at the provincial level, and policies and measures should be formulated according to local conditions. In addition, a linkage model between prefecture-level cities should be developed at the municipal level to fully manifest the positive spatial spillover effect. Moreover, we should thoroughly evaluate the risk associated with CLUE transition from high to low levels and establish a low-level early warning mechanism.

Field data were sampled by the method of contiguous grid quadrate. The spatial patterns of Pseudolarix amabilis populations were studied by the following methods: DispItalic textersal index (C), David moores index (I), Lloyd index (m*/m), Morisita index (Iδ), Parameter of negative index (K) and Cassie index (1/K). The quadrate variance analysis, Greig-Smith and Kershaw methods were used to study the spatial distribution pattern, pattern scale and pattern intensity of Pinus armandi population at different sizes. The result showed that P. amabilis population is most clumped. The result indicated the pattern intensity was decreasing with the size increasing and a single peak value appeared in the curve with the area increasing. There was a slow change in the pattern intensity of population, which means a smaller variation in environment and a bigger difference in the relative density of population patches during diffusion process.

Abstract This paper constructs a theoretical model to deduce the mechanism of environmental regulation on ecological welfare performance, selects the panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2005 ~ 2019, uses the Super-SBM model to measure the ecological welfare performance of China, and the influence of heterogeneous environmental regulation on ecological welfare performance in China is empirically tested by spatial Durbin model. The results show: (1) there are regional differences in the ecological welfare performance of different provinces in China, which illustrates an unbalanced spatial distribution; (2) there is significant positive spatial correlation between market incentive, command -control and voluntary participation environmental regulation and ecological welfare performance; (3) The impact of different types of environmental regulations on the performance of ecological welfare in China is heterogeneous. Command-control and market incentive environmental regulations can improve the performance of ecological welfare, while voluntary participation environmental regulations have no significant impact on the performance of ecological welfare; (4) From the perspective of spatial spillover effect, command-control environmental regulation is not conducive to the ecological welfare performance of neighboring regions, while market incentive environmental regulation is conducive to the improvement of ecological welfare performance of adjacent areas. The spatial spillover effect of voluntary participation environmental regulation on ecological welfare performance in adjacent areas is not significant.

A vegetação do Nordeste revela carência relacionada ao manejo florestal da Caatinga. Objetivou-se estudar o padrão espacial de espécies e estrutura da vegetação em área de Caatinga, localizada no município de Floresta, PE. Em uma área de aproximadamente 10 ha, com histórico de perturbação, foram instaladas 20 parcelas de 20 x 20 m, de forma sistemática. Todas as árvores com CAP a 1,30 m do solo ≥ 6 cm foram identificadas e tiveram suas circunferências e alturas mensuradas. Foram encontradas 18 espécies arbóreas, distribuídas em 15 gêneros, dentro de 6 famílias botânicas, com índice de diversidade de Shannon (H') de 2,11 nats.ind-1, e área basal total estimada de 4,53 m2.ha-1. Destacaram-se as famílias Fabaceae, com 48,93% dos indivíduos, e Euphorbiaceae, com 41,28%. As espécies Poincianella bracteosa (Tul.) L. P. Queiroz, Croton rhamnifolius Kunth, Manihot cartaginenses subsp. glaziovii (Muell. Arg.) Allem. e Mimosa ophtalmocentra Mart. ex Benth somaram 55% do total do valor de importância. A maioria das espécies apresentou distribuição agregada, exceto algumas, como Myracrodruon urundeuva Fr. Allem. para o índice de McGuinnes (IGA), Commiphora leptophloeos (Mart.) J. B. Gillett para McGuinnes (IGA) e Payandeh (Pi) e Manihot cartaginenses subsp. glaziovii (Muell. Arg.) Forest management deficiency in relation to Northeast vegetation, specifically caatinga, are remarkable. This research aims to analyze spatial patterns of species and vegetation structure in Caatinga area, located in the municipality of Floresta-PE. In an area of approximately 10 ha, and a history of disturbance, 20 plots (20 x 20 m) were installed in systematic way. All trees with CAP (at 1.30 m above the ground) ≥ 6 cm had been identified, and their circumferences and heights measured. 18 tree species were sampled, distributed in 15 genus, within 6 botanical families, with diversity index of Shannon (H ') of 2.11 nats / ind, and estimated total basal area of 4, 53 m2.ha-1. The highlighted families were Fabaceae, 48.93% of individuals, and Euphorbiaceae 41.28%. The species Poincianella bracteosa (Tul.) L.P.Queiroz, Croton rhamnifolius Kunth, Manihot cartaginenses Subsp. glaziovii (Muell. Arg.) Allem., and Mimosa ophtalmocentra Mart. ex Benth totalized 55% of the total value of importance. Rural settlements of China are in the era of rapid information development, experiencing revolutionary changes and cultural breakthroughs. This article takes the main rural settlements in Diqing as examples and uses GIS technology as the main method, analyses spatial distribution and assembling characteristics of rural settlements. Based on this, the article extracts the spatial assembling pattern of Diqing rural settlements. Take the topography, rivers, roads and other factors, this article analyzes the causes of the spatial distribution pattern of contemporary rural settlements. The article argues that it has a great theoretical and practical significance to study the spatial pattern of rural settlements, and points out the necessity of using modern GIS technology in the rural settlement research. This method cannot be only maximum the precise analytical ability of contemporary traditional rural settlement space, but also better serve the adjustment, control and optimization design of contemporary settlements.
