Intra-city delivery has developed rapidly along with the expansion of the logistics industry. Timely delivery is one of the main requirements of consumers and has become a major challenge to delivery service providers. To compensate for the adverse effects of delivery delays, platforms have launched delay compensation services for consumers who order. This study quantitatively evaluated consumer perception of the delay compensation service in intra-city deliveries using a choice experiment. We explored how different attributes of the delay compensation service plan affect consumer preference and their willingness to pay for the services. These service attributes are “delay probability display”, “compensation amount”, “compensation method”, “penalty method for riders”, and “one-time order price”. Using a multinomial logit model to analyze the questionnaire results, the respondents showed a positive preference for on-time delivery probability display, progressive compensation amount, and cash compensation. The results also show that the respondents opposed the penalty scheme where the riders would bear the compensation costs. Positive preference attributes are conducive to enhancing consumers’ willingness to order and pay for the program. Based on our findings and research conclusions, we proposed several recommendations to improve the delay compensation service program.

Although numerous studies have examined consumer preference for organic foods, few have focused on consumer willingness to pay (WTP) for organic labels from dissimilar countries or certifiers. We conducted a choice experiment to examine how Chinese consumer ethnocentrism and trust on organic labels and certifiers may affect their WTP for organic labels from different countries as well as for different certifiers. Chinese consumers did not show a high level of ethnocentrism, and this may lead to inconsistencies in their WTP for organic labels. Significantly, consumer preferences for certifiers did not change remarkably with the increase in consumer ethnocentrism. Chinese consumers generally preferred organic labels from developed countries (or US-invested organic certifiers). With increases in the trust in labels, consumer WTP for each type of organic label increased in general, but the difference between WTPs for organic labels from different countries decreased. Similar results were observed in consumer WTP for certifiers. Determining distinct preferences for organic labels from various sources and countries can be a valuable reference for manufacturers or international certification service providers to choose target markets and for governments to establish their certification systems.

Blockchain technology has been applied to logistics tracking, but it is not cost-effective. The development of smart lockers has solved the problem of repeated distribution to improve logistics efficiency, thereby becoming a solution with convenience and privacy compared to the in-store purchase and pickup alternative. This study prioritized the key factors of smart lockers using a simulated annealing–genetic algorithm by fractional factorial design (FFD-SAGA) and grey relational analysis, and investigated the main users of smart lockers by grey multiple attribute decision analysis. The results show that the Web application programming interface (API) concatenation and money flow provider are the key success factors of smart lockers, and office workers are the main users of the lockers. Hence, how to better meet the needs of office workers will be an issue of concern for service providers.

This study examines consumers??ethics concerns on their product choices in the context of coffee in China. Using an in-person survey, an interval regression technique was used to elicit willingness to pay. Respondents were randomly assigned to one of three different information scenarios including product ethics: basic definition, impact on sustainability and the environment, and information including both environmental and social implications. Results indicated that information played an important role in determining what types of consumers were responsive to ethical production. Furthermore, the amount of information provided and consumer willingness to pay did not follow a linear relationship.

Community-supported agriculture (CSA) operators are becoming more innovative in their efforts to attract consumers to become CSA shareholders. Therefore, CSA operators must understand which attributes consumers value. Using an online survey of Connecticut consumers in conjunction with a choice experiment, we evaluate consumer preference and willingness to pay for various attributes, including risk mitigation. We find younger consumers are more likely to prefer CSAs with organic products, while a greater diversity of products in the CSA share will increase preference for a CSA for some consumers. Further, we find that consumers with and without CSA experience value the risk-mitigation attribute.

The aims of this paper are (1) to identify the characteristics of maintenance service providers that directly impact maintenance service quality, using 18 independent covariables; (2) to quantify the change in risk these covariables present to service quality, measured in terms of equipment turnaround time (TAT). A survey was applied to every maintenance service provider (n = 19) for characterization purposes. The equipment inventory was characterized, and the TAT variable recorded and monitored for every work order of each service provider (N = 1,025). Finally, the research team conducted a statistical analysis to accomplish the research objectives. The results of this study offer strong empirical evidence that the most influential variables affecting the quality of maintenance service performance are the following: type of maintenance, availability of spare parts in the country, user training, technological complexity of the equipment, distance between the company and the hospital, and the number of maintenance visits performed by the company. The strength of the results obtained by the Cox model built are supported by the measure of the Rp,e2 = 0.57 with a value of Rp,e= 0.75. Thus, the model explained 57% of the variation in equipment TAT, with moderate high positive correlation between the dependent variable (TAT) and independent variables.

<p>Having initiated economic liberalization in 1986, Vietnam is a particularly interesting emerging economy to study. The logistics industry in the country is developing strongly because manufacturers are willing to outsource their logistical activities to specialized businesses called logistics service providers (LSPs). To be sustainable partners of manufacturers, LSPs must adopt an informational integration policy that improves the functioning of their customers’ supply chains. To find out whether Vietnamese manufacturers value information integration, a questionnaire survey was administered to 139 food industry managers. The main research finding is that informational integration between manufacturer and LSP strongly impacts the manager’s perception of its own logistics performance. This result has major implications for foreign LSPs that want to carve out a significant place on the Vietnamese market.</p>

The study identifies the factors and measures the influence on the use of logistics services by seafood exporting enterprises in Ho Chi Minh City. Many research models on the same and relevant fields are reviewed to provide the comprehensive research background of the topic. Thereby, the research model and hypotheses are proposed with 26 observed variables for 05 factors of using logistics services. The survey is conducted in Ho Chi Minh City with 161 valid answers accepted for the analysis. After various statistical techniques to fully analyze data, the findings show that there is statistically significant relationship between all five factors and the use of logistics services by seafood exporting enterprises. Transportation time is the most influential factor, followed by reliability, cost, reputation and service quality. In accordance with these results, implications are proposed for both seafood exporting enterprises and logistics service providers to improve their operations and business performance. Despite the limitations during research process, the study has made a significant contribution to the literature of B2B buying relationship in the logistics industry.

Abstract Background: In order to achieve an environmentally friendly and sustainable energy supply, it is necessary that this goal is supported by society. In different countries worldwide it has been shown that one way consumers want to support the energy transition is by switching to green electricity. However, few people make the leap from their intention to a buying decision. This study explores parameters that influence whether German consumers would hypothetically decide to switch to a green electricity tariff. Methods: A quota-representative online survey including a discrete choice experiment with 371 German private households was conducted in 2016. For the econometric analysis, a generalized multinomial logit model in willingness to pay space was employed, enabling the estimation of WTP values to be as realistic as possible. Results: The results show that consumers’ decision whether or not to make the switch to green energy is mainly influenced by the source of green energy, whether a person can outsource the switching process, and a person’s attitude towards the renewable energy sources levy that currently exist in Germany. Conclusions: The findings indicate that politics should focus on supporting wind and solar energy as German consumers prefer these sources over biogas. As the results suggest, the EEG levy is a reason why consumers have lower WTP for switching to a green tariff. Therefore a switching bonus with a specifically “framed” bonus in the amount of the current EEG levy could be a promising strategy for the increase of green energy tariff acceptance. Furthermore, attention should be given to psychological and behavioral aspects, as the results indicate that these factors influence the consumer’s choice for a green electricity tariff.JEL classifications: C23, C25, Q40, Q50
