Surveys of the conditions of termite attack were conducted in two regencies, Pidie and Greater Aceh, Aceh Province, Indonesia (40 houses in each location). Interviews were also conducted with home owners to collect data on the building history; culture, such as daily life in the house; the frequency and intensity of termite attacks; and traditional knowledge for avoiding and/or suppressing termite attacks. We found that 51% of traditional houses were infested by two termite species: Coptotermes gestroi and Nasutitermes matangensis. The lower parts of traditional houses were frequently attacked and severely damaged by termites. Previous land use and the ages of the traditional houses affected the intensity of the termite attacks. Several measures for avoiding and/or suppressing termite attacks on cultural heritage buildings are also proposed.

Kartika Wijaya Hotel and Niagara Hotel-Malang are two heritage buildings, which are well managed to preserve their historical building that, has been established since 1891. We can find good harmony and variety in interior elements and design styles, such as Colonial style, Art Noveau and Art Deco style. The purpose of documentating this heritage building that has different design styles is for those who needed. The data will be classified according to the period of the development of the buildings and characteristics of existing styles. The research objective on Kartika Wijaya hotel building and art styles is to preserve historic buildings in Indonesia, through documentation of interior elements and architectures, and to conducted a study of the interior and architectures elements, interior design ornaments, that founded in historical Kartika Wijaya Hotel and Niagara Hotel in Malang, whose the existence needs to be preserved.

<p>It is important to preserve historic buildings in their original conditions, not only to protect building integrity but also to sustain Traditional Knowledge Systems. As stated by ICCROM, those Traditional Knowledge Systems play an important role in the conservation and management of heritage. Among them, building service systems including heating, cooling, ventilation, lighting, drainage, and their architectural construction technology help sustain heritage buildings and extend their life cycle with a minimum level of energy demand. Passive survivability means also contribute to comfort conditions, opening new scenarios for the designing of contemporary buildings. Hence, in this research, first, traditional Kutahya houses were examined in terms of their construction, technology, and architecture. Then, among them, Lajos Kossuth House, dated the 18<sup>th</sup> century, has been chosen as an exemplary to investigate its traditional building service systems in more detail from the point of circularity in construction, their contribution to circular economy, Cradle to Cradle (C2C) strategies, and design for adaptability principles (DfA).  It is observed that they are mostly in a well-preserved condition in terms of both function and character-defining features. However, after 1982, during its refurbishment work to be used as a museum, some of its original details, especially the ones related to waste and clean water were destroyed. To be able to sustain and protect the rest of the original service systems and related architectural construction details in this case study building, they should first be documented, well defined and their recognition should be increased to serve as a model for the maintenance of similar building systems. In addition, it might be possible to transfer the knowledge of those passive survivability means and circular construction principles to contemporary buildings.</p>

There is a need for easier vertical circulation facilities, especially given the need for people with disabilities and parents in historic buildings, especially in buildings that still function as public buildings to date. This is because in general these buildings use stairs as a means of vertical circulation while the activities inside have increased so that more efficient vertical circulation is needed such as elevators. The problem is how to determine the placement of vertical circulation facilities in historical buildings, which sometimes do not accommodate the placement of new vertical circulation facilities and placement should be in locations that are easily accessible and seen by users but at the same time also pay attention to the rules of buildingconservation rules. This study aims to show the use of the Space Syntaxmethod can be used in conjunction with the conservation study of historic buildings to determine the placement of vertical circulation facilities in buildings as a space study tool that will determine the location of placement in terms of accesibility and connectedness of space which will then be used to determine placement new elements in the building while paying attention to the principles of cultural heritage conservation. The study used quantitative methods of ekseprimental simulation with the use of Depthmap's computer program as a tool for analysis of simulation of the Space Syntaxmethod, supported by heritage provisions as a guide to limits of changes allowed in cultural heritage buildings. The results showed that the use of Space Syntaxcan be used in conjunction with the analysis of building conservation to determine elevator placement in locations that pay attention to the study of ease of achievement and observation of usersbut still pay attention to the influence of the placement on historical and architectural elements of the building shown in the case study of the UNPAR building Jl.merdeka no.30 Bandung.

Abstract For decades, conservation initiatives considered the protection of nature and human progress to be mutually exclusive. As a result of this paradigm, communities living within protected areas often were displaced or treated as invaders and criminals in their ancestral territories. Consequently, much cultural heritage, including traditional knowledge, has been lost. In part to prevent cultural loss, in the year 2000, Brazil legally acknowledged within Federal Act 9,985 the rights, knowledge and way of living of traditional people as integral for the conservation of nature. Based on the case of the traditional Caiçara community living at Martin de Sá (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), this study showcases fifteen years of cultural change influenced, among others, by the implementation of protected area policy and growth in tourism. Participatory observation between 2000 and 2015 identified changes to the community’s way of thinking, lifestyle and livelihoods. Strategies are proposed to increase cultural protection.

Digital archiving technology for conserving cultural heritage is an important subject nowadays. The Taiwanese Ministry of Culture continues to try to converge the concept and technology of conservation towards international conventions. However, the products from these different technologies are not yet integrated due to the lack of research and development in this field. There is currently no effective schema in HBIM for Taiwanese cultural heritage. The aim of this research is to establish an HBIM schema for Chinese built heritage in Taiwan. The proposed method starts from the perspective of the components of built heritage buildings, up to the investigation of the important properties of the components through important international charters and Taiwanese laws of cultural heritage conservation. Afterwards, object-oriented class diagram and ontology from the scale of components were defined to clarify the concept and increase the interoperability. A historical database was then established for the historical information of components and to bring it into the concept of BIM in order to build a 3D model of heritage objects which can be used for visualization. An integration platform was developed for the users to browse and manipulate the database and 3D model simultaneously. In addition, this research also evaluated the feasibility of this method using the study case at the Huangxi academy located in Taiwan. The conclusion showed that class diagram could help the establishment of database and even its application for different Chinese built heritage objects. The establishment of ontology helped to convey knowledge and increase interoperability. In comparison to traditional documentation methods, the querying result of the platform was more accurate and less prone to human error.

The change / delineation of buildings of cultural heritage architecture in Bogor City is not based on technical consideration, more on benefits and economics, and it is not in accordance / contrary to the provisions of Copyright Act No. 28 of 2014 on architectural works only allowed technical considerations. As the factor causing the nuance of the copyrighted works of cultural heritage architecture that many of the cultural heritage buildings that have moved from the first owner so that many in the total fox architecture of cultural heritage buildings that are also less effective legislation that brings people aware, because less socialization of legislation, the implementation of relatively light sanctions, lack of attention of local government in conservation efforts to the works of cultural heritage architecture. Due to the considerable cost. Efforts made to overcome the changes to the cultural heritage architectural work is to conduct good cooperation and coordination between institutions and related apparatus, to re-register and register in order to have the law, to give more severe sanction and firm, empower the buildings for example by way of functionalizing the building , increasing the role of architecture. This research is applicable law against culture heritage culture in Bogor city not yet implemented by law of Cultural Heritage and Copyright Act.

This paper aims to simulate adjustments for new functions in hospitals that respect the authenticity of cultural heritage buildings. The development of heritage buildings should be integrated, especially in adjusting building functions, such as room arrangement. The emergency room is a vital function for hospital services, and consideration is needed to arrange procedures. The research method chosen in this research is descriptive qualitative with a case study in the Magdalena Daeman building St Elizabeth Hospital. Design simulation can be realized by adjusting the standard emergency room requirements into the layout of the building. Additionally, cultural heritage buildings should be maintained to be used in operational functions by carrying out development. This study's results can be a guideline in developing new functions of cultural heritage buildings that meet the conservation technique guidelines.

Many former industrial building sites in Sweden have been abandoned and left to deteriorate. Nowadays, there is a large interest to refurbish and retrofit these buildings for other purposes. Commercial and housing developers are attracted to these areas which are often in the outskirts of the city centers. There are several challenges facing architects and engineers to preserve these buildings, also connected to cultural heritage demands. The aim of this study is to propose measures to preserve cultural heritage buildings. A brick building in Gothenburg, on the Swedish west coast, is used as a case study. The building was used for paper production until 2005. After that, it deteriorated quickly after the heating was turned off. The rapid decay affected the hygrothermal performance as well as the load-bearing capacity of the structure. Small scale laboratory investigations of the building materials show a high degree of decay. Measurements of temperature and relative humidity is used to monitor the hygrothermal performance. Observations show that the brick masonry has heavy salt efflorescence and is in need of further protective measures.

<p><strong>Abstract.</strong> Restorative and conservative operations of Cultural Heritage buildings involve the historical and objective knowledge of the context. Meaning the knowledge as a diachronic awareness of the history of buildings should help the safeguarding processes of heritage assets.</p><p>The integration of historical information inside a HBIM platform involves huge benefits for the Cultural Heritage case management, its periodical monitoring operations and valorisation processes, moreover the historical evolution is correctly considered. This solution allows to maximize the comprehension and also communication of the analysed context through few simple steps as visualize, read and query in order to ensure the accuracy and quality of final data (Diara et al, 2018).</p><p>This new court of methodologic cooperation will be tested on the case study of the medieval Abbey of Staffarda (CN, Italy) and its refectory in a deeper way where, thanks to recent studies, it has been possible to reconstruct analysis map for a complete vision of the church and the Abbey’s complex as well (Beltramo et al, 2019).</p>
