Typhoons are a severe form of natural disaster that can impose huge economic losses and casualties on society. High school students are more vulnerable compared with adults during typhoons. Improving risk perceptions of typhoons can help high school students to effectively respond to typhoons and reduce related losses. Environmental values play an important role in human perceptions and actions. Although typhoons are caused by environmental factors, few studies have investigated the influence of environmental factors on typhoon risk perceptions of high school students. This study investigates the typhoon risk perceptions of high school students in Ningbo, China, and further analyzes the influence of environmental values on these perceptions with the structural equations model. The results reveal that environmental values have significantly positive impacts on typhoon risk perceptions. The findings also demonstrate that disaster threats and the disaster management ability of the government have significant positive impacts on typhoon risk perceptions. This study proposes suggestions and measures to improve typhoon risk perceptions among high school students and provides a reference for typhoon prevention and reduction education in China.

This study investigated the relation between love and different romantic relationships with variable vulnerability to HIV, such as sexual behavior and risk perception. Sternberg’s Triangular Love Scale and a structured questionnaire were used to ask 301 high school students about: romantic relationships, sexual behavior and risk perceptions. It was identified that the adolescents underestimate their own risk of contagion when they compare themselves with other individuals and also when they consider past and future possible HIV contagion. Love does not appear to be directly associated with the self-perception of risk, however, in conjunction with dating, it is a complicating factor for protected sex and was also related to the underestimation of risk of the partner. It was observed that stable relationships and love increase the students’ vulnerability to acquire HIV, because of the association of these with trust in the partner and the justification of risky practices, such as the non-use of condoms.

According to the latest PISA report, the level of mathematical competence of Spanish students is far behind the rest of the OECD countries. One of the main reasons for this is the animosity that students feel towards this subject. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the processes of overcoming the vicissitudes of mathematical anxiety with respect to motivation, metacognitive strategies and academic performance. This study involved 1742 high school students with an average age of 14.87. To analyze the variables of the study, descriptive statistical analyses and a model of structural equations were carried out. The results revealed a negative correlation between resilience and anxiety. In turn, resilience was positively related to motivation and metacognitive strategies, while anxiety was negatively related to motivation and metacognitive strategies. Motivation was positively related to metacognitive strategies and academic performance; finally, metacognitive strategies were positively related to academic performance.

The development of increasingly modern times with increasingly dense mobilization rates causes traffic accidents to increase, especially among high school students. Traffic accidents occur due to several factors, that are human factors, environmental factors, and vehicle factors. This study aimed to analyze factors related to the risk of traffic accidents in, Kupang city in 2019. This research used quantitative methods, with analytic methods, using a cross-sectional approach. The selection of samples used simple random sampling method and sample in this study is 84 students spread over three high schools, in Kupang. The results showed that there was a relationship between driving behavior with traffic accidents on high school students in Kupang with the value of p value = 0.003, there was no relationship between the factors of vehicles with traffic accidents on high school students in Kupang with the value of p value = 0.285 and there was a relationship between environmental factors and traffic accidents on high school students in Kupang with a value of p value = 0.002). The researcher proposes suggestions for high school students in Kupang City to pay more attention to driving behavior, as well as the conditions of the road being traversed. for officers who are authorized to be able to improve guidance and outreach, and strict rules and sanctions to create a conducive traffic situation, to reduce traffic accidents.
