Rural clean heating project (RCHP) in China aims to increase flexibility in the rural energy system, enhance the integration of renewable energy and distributed generation, and reduce environmental impact. While RCHP-enabling routes have been studied from a technical perspective, the economic, ecological, regulatory, and policy dimensions of RCHP are yet to be analysed in depth, especially in the underdeveloped areas in China. This paper discusses RCHP in rural Gansu using a multi-dimensional approach. We first focus on the current issues and challenges of RCHP in rural Gansu. Then the RCHP-enabling areas are briefly zoned into six typical regions based on the resource distribution in Gansu Province, and a matching framework of RCHP is recommended. Then we focus on the economics and sustainability of RCHP-enabling technologies. Based on the medium-term assessment of RCHP in the demonstration provinces, various technical schemes and routes are analysed and compared in order to determine which should be adopted in rural Gansu. In addition to technical and economic effects of those schemes, the corresponding ecology, policy, finance, and market implications are also concerned. We briefly discuss how the national regulators incentivise the implementation of RCHP in rural Gansu. Major barriers to RCHP are identified as the sustainability of technology, economy, ecology, policy, finance, and market. Subsequently, some policy solutions to overcome these barriers are proposed.

As hydropower is one of the commonly available renewable energy sources, so it is experiencing a development in the large part of the world. Pico hydropower is used as a distributed system based renewable energy system meant for rural or remote area load . It is, hence, of most significant to propose an effective methodology to assure the better making reimbursement of a combined Pico hydro system with solar pv system. The proposed method mainly estimates the feasible of installing Pico hydropower in a run-of river. The Methodologies to assess the feasibility and sustainability of such mechanism were depicted. The orderly designing of plant is defined by considering some optimal technological method that considers the dimension of components plus the estimation of the gross energy generation. Economical plus Technical data studies performed to examine the profitability and practicability of the system. This planned method can be examined as a study and the feasibility of developing a PHP in a run of river system is possible. The environmental impact on fixing this plant measured and possibly reduced. This results obtained are demonstrated for already existing infrastructure and analyzed that the cost can be reduced by using an optimized model. A simulation result has obtained the financial expand is more by the technique used for the combine hydro-PV hybrid system. In Addition to the environmental impact and effect an analysis has exposed that yearly more than 200 tons of carbon emission is reduced by producing clean and green liveliness by means of the environmental and ecological solution.

AbstractWorldwide, there is a huge demand for the application of renewable energy technologies mainly due to the current environmental problems that mostly originated from our fossil-based energy system. This study is aiming at presenting areas which require a bigger share of renewables from the global energy mix but only for economic reasons. We highlight that these alternatives can bear with advantageous economic effects compared to the non-renewable ones. We take into account renewables-based business opportunities, and then we discuss the positive effects of renewables on economic development. Finally, we look at the issuant security of energy supply and talk about beneficial labor market impacts caused by renewable energies.

Abstract Small-scale renewable energy systems in the context of the development of distributed generation, are discussed for the case of Poland. A distributed energy system is efficient, reliable and environmentally friendly, and is one of the most recent trends in the development of the energy sector in Poland. One of the important dimensions of this process is the creation of micro- and small-power producers based on renewable, locally-available energy sources. It is clear that the development of small-scale renewable energy producers takes place in two ways. One of these is through small hydropower plants, which are the aftermath of hydropower development in areas traditionally associated with water use for energy purposes (northern and western Poland). The second is through other renewable energy sources, mainly biogas and solar energy and located primarily in southern Poland, in highly urbanized areas (e.g. Śląskie Voivodship). In conclusion, the development of small-scale renewable energy systems in Poland is regarded as a good option with respect to sustainable development.

Optimization of the sizing and operation strategy of a complex energy system requires a large computational burden because of the non-linear nature of the mathematical problem. Accordingly, using a conventional numerical method with only a physics-based model for complete optimization is impractical. To resolve this problem, this paper adopted an optimization method of using an artificial intelligence scheme that combines an artificial neural network (ANN) and a genetic algorithm (GA). Especially, the ANN was constructed based on results from a physics-based model to obtain a large amount of accurate simulation data in a short time frame. A distributed generation (DG) system based on a gas turbine (GT) and renewable energy (RE) was simulated to demonstrate the usefulness of the optimization method. In consideration of the capacity and partial load performance of the GT, the optimization of the sizing and operation strategy of the DG system was performed for three system design scenarios. The optimization criteria were cost-effectiveness and eco-friendliness. The method reduced the calculation time by more than three orders of magnitude while maintaining the same accuracy as the physics-based model. The approach and methodology are expected to be applicable to accurate and fast optimization of various sophisticated energy systems.

The rural energy is one of important factor in energy system, which connects closely with new rural construction. The analysis on Beijing rural energy problems will benefit to solve the national rural energy problems on referential meaning. In this paper, the situation of Beijing rural energy problems in 2007 is analyzed, and the problems which exist in rural energy development are found. Meanwhile, it introduces the policy of Beijing rural energy construction and its target, and suggests that rapid developing the rural renewable energy in order to adjust the structure of Beijing rural energy consumption.
