The imperialist competitive algorithm combined with chaos theory (CICA) demonstrates excellent performance in global optimization problems. However, its computational complexity increases with the introduction of chaotic maps. To address this, we integrate CICA with a dropout strategy that randomly samples the dimensions of each solution at each iteration of the computation. We investigate the potential of the proposed algorithm with different chaotic maps through six symmetric and six asymmetric benchmark functions. We also apply the proposed algorithm to AUVs’ path planning application showing its performance and effectiveness in solving real problems. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm not only has low computational complexity but also enhances local search capability near the globally optimal solution with an insignificant loss in the success rate.

A bat algorithm (BA) is a heuristic algorithm that operates by imitating the echolocation behavior of bats to perform global optimization. The BA is widely used in various optimization problems because of its excellent performance. In the bat algorithm, the global search capability is determined by the parameter loudness and frequency. However, experiments show that each operator in the algorithm can only improve the performance of the algorithm at a certain time. In this paper, a novel bat algorithm with multiple strategies coupling (mixBA) is proposed to solve this problem. To prove the effectiveness of the algorithm, we compared it with CEC2013 benchmarks test suits. Furthermore, the Wilcoxon and Friedman tests were conducted to distinguish the differences between it and other algorithms. The results prove that the proposed algorithm is significantly superior to others on the majority of benchmark functions.

The Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (ICA) is a novel computational method based on the concept of socio-political motivated strategy, which is usually used to solve different types of optimization problems. This paper presents the optimization of cold-formed channel section subjected to axial compression force utilizing the ICA method. The results are then compared to the Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP) algorithm for validation purpose. The results obtained from the ICA method is in good agreement with the GA and SQP method in terms of weight but slightly different in the geometry shape.

Optimization problems are often found in everyday life, such as when determining goods to be a limited storage media. This causes the need for the selection of goods in order to obtain profits with the requirements met. This problem in mathematics is usually called a knapsack. Knapsack problem itself has several variations, in this study knapsack type used is multiple constraints knapsack 0-1 which is solved using the Elephant Herding Optimization (EHO) algorithm. The aim of this study is to obtain an optimal solution and study the effectiveness of the algorithm comparing it to the Simplex method in Microsoft Excel. This study uses two data, consisting of primary and secondary data. Based on the results of parameter testing, the proven parameters are nClan, nCi,α,β and MaxGen have a significant effect. The final simulation results have also shown a comparison of the EHO algorithm with the Simplex method having a very small percentage deviation. This shows that the EHO algorithm is effective for completing optimization multiple constraints knapsack 0-1. Keywords: EHO Algorithm, Multiple Constraints Knapsack 0-1 Problem.

This paper presents a new interactive neural network for solving constrained multi-objective optimization problems. The constrained multi-objective optimization problem is reformulated into two constrained single objective optimization problems and two neural networks are designed to obtain the optimal weight and the optimal solution of the two optimization problems respectively. The proposed algorithm has a low computational complexity and is easy to be implemented. Moreover, the proposed algorithm is well applied to the design of digital filters. Computed results illustrate the good performance of the proposed algorithm.

Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (ICA) is a new population-based evolutionary algorithm. Previous works have shown that ICA converges quickly but often to a local optimum. To overcome this problem, this work proposed two modifications to ICA: perturbed assimilation move and boundary bouncing. The proposed modifications were applied to ICA and tested using six well-known benchmark functions with 30 dimensions. The experimental results indicate that these two modifications significantly improve the performance of ICA on all six benchmark functions.

In modern years, there has been growing importance in the design, analysis and to resolve extremely complex problems. Because of the complexity of problem variants and the difficult nature of the problems they deal with, it is arguably impracticable in the majority time to build appropriate guarantees about the number of fitness evaluations needed for an algorithm to and an optimal solution. In such situations, heuristic algorithms can solve approximate solutions; however suitable time and space complication take part an important role. In present, all recognized algorithms for NP-complete problems are requiring time that's exponential within the problem size. The acknowledged NP-hardness results imply that for several combinatorial optimization problems there are no efficient algorithms that realize a best resolution, or maybe a close to best resolution, on each instance. The study Computational Complexity Analysis of Selective Breeding algorithm involves both an algorithmic issue and a theoretical challenge and the excellence of a heuristic.

Recently, structured LDPC codes have been focused on due to excellent performance and lower complexity. An improved construction of QC-LDPC based on a modified PEG algorithm is proposed in this paper. The modified Progressive Edge-Growth algorithm is a PEG algorithm with Approximated Cycle Extrinsic Message Degree (ACE) metric, which is used to describe the connectivity of cycles. The approach can maximize the girth of the cycles, improve the connectivity of cycles and have the advantages of QC algorithms. The simulation results demonstrate that the PEG algorithm based on ACE has lower Bit Error Rate (BER) and Frame Error Rate (FER) than the original PEG algorithm at the low Signal Noise Ratio (SNR) values, and has a relatively lower computational complexity.

The goal of optimizing the best acceptable answer is according to the limitations and needs of the problem. For a problem, there are several different answers that are defined to compare them and select an optimal answer; a function is called a target function. The choice of this function depends on the nature of the problem. Sometimes several goals are together optimized; such optimization problems are called multi-objective issues. One way to deal with such problems is to form a new objective function in the form of a linear combination of the main objective functions. In the proposed approach, in order to increase the ability to discover new position in the Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (ICA), its operators are combined with the particle swarm optimization. The colonial competition optimization algorithm has the ability to search global and has a fast convergence rate, and the particle swarm algorithm added to it increases the accuracy of searches. In this approach, the cosine similarity of the neighboring countries is measured by the nearest colonies of an imperialist and closest competitor country. In the proposed method, by balancing the global and local search, a method for improving the performance of the two algorithms is presented. The simulation results of the combined algorithm have been evaluated with some of the benchmark functions. Comparison of the results has been evaluated with respect to metaheuristic algorithms such as Differential Evolution (DE), Ant Lion Optimizer (ALO), ICA, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), and Genetic Algorithm (GA).
