The charmonium-like exotic states Y(4230) and the less known Y(4320), produced in e+e− collisions, are sources of positive parity exotic hadrons in association with photons or pseudoscalar mesons. We analyze the radiative and pion decay channels in the compact tetraquark scheme, with a method that proves to work equally well in the most studied D∗→γ/π+D decays. The decay of the vector Y into a pion and a Zc state requires a flip of charge conjugation and isospin that is described appropriately in the formalism used. Rates are found to depend on the fifth power of pion momentum, which would make the final states πZc(4020) strongly suppressed with respect to πZc(3900). The agreement with BES III data would be improved considering the πZc(4020) events to be fed by the tail of the Y(4320) resonance under the Y(4230). These results should renovate the interest in further clarifying the emerging experimental picture in this mass region.

Latest results of searches for heavy Higgs bosons in fermionic final states are presented using the CMS detector at the LHC. Results are based on pp collision data collected at centre-of-mass energies of 8 and 13 TeV which have been interpreted according to different extensions of the Standard Model such as MSSM, 2HDM, and NMSSM. These searches look for evidence of other scalar or pseudoscalar bosons, in addition to the observed SM-like 125 GeV Higgs boson, and set 95% confidence level upper limits in fermionic final states and benchmark models explored. The talk reviews briefly the major results obtained by the CMS Collaboration during Run I, and presents the most recent searches performed during Run II.

Heavy quark spectroscopy and exotic states are studied with the ATLAS detector, mainly through final states containing muon pairs from J/ψ decays. This proceedings will summarise recent results from ATLAS on these topics, including production of quarkonium and heavy flavour, searches for exotic states and measurements of decay properties in open beauty production.

The measurement of the mixing-induced CP-violating phase ϕs in the B0s - B0s system is one of the key goals of the LHCb experiment. It has been measured at the LHCb collaboration exploiting the Run I data set and using several decay channels. In particular, the most recent Run I result has been obtained analyzing B0s → J/ψK+K- candidates in the mass region above the ϕ(1020) resonance. Despite the large improvements in the sensitivity of ϕs during the last decade, the precision is still limited by the available statistics.

Meson photoproduction is a key tool for the experimental investigation of the nucleon excitation spectrum. To disentangle the specific couplings of resonances, in addition to the rather well measured pion and eta photoproduction channels it is mandatory to obtain information on channels involving strange and vector mesons and higher mass pseudoscalar mesons, and the associated multi-particle final states with both charged and neutral particles. In this respect, the new BGO-OD experiment at the ELSA accelerator of the University of Bonn's Physikalisches Institut provides unique instrumentation. We describe the experiment, present its status and the initial program of measurements.

The mass region near η(1440) has more than one resonance, and two resonances with M≈1420 MeV and M≈1490 MeV are shown to give a better description of the recent experimental data. We investigate whether η(1420) or η(1490) is the glueball, if it exists, and which of them is the isospin 0 partner of the radially excited state η(1295) expected to exist near the 1500–1600 MeV region. We study the J/ψ→VP and Pγ decays, using the new data of 1992, to estimate the mixing among (η, η′, ι), where ι refers to the glueball, and obtain the result that the N component in ι is larger than the S component. Comparing the N and S components in ι with the N and S components in η(1420) and η(1490) obtained from their decaying pattern, we conjecture that the low mass state η(1420) is the glueball and the high mass state η(1490) is the radial excitation state. We discuss the relation between the mass formulae for the pseudoscalar mesons and the mixing among (η, η′, ι) obtained considering the chiral perturbation theory and the chiral U(3) × U(3) symmetry formulation.

We study the signal rates of the second lightest CP-even Higgs boson, [Formula: see text], of the NMSSM produced in gluon fusion, in association with bottom quarks and in association with top quarks, which is not the SM-like Higgs boson, at the LHC. We evaluate the production rates of [Formula: see text] in the SM fermionic and bosonic final states in addition to [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] final states. It is observed that the size of the signal rates in some regions of the NMSSM parameter space is quite large and that could help extracting [Formula: see text] signals at the LHC through a variety of decay channels.

AbstractWe study the possibility of observing a light pseudo-scalar a at LHCb. We target the mass region $$2.5\,\mathrm{GeV}\lesssim m_a\lesssim 60\,\mathrm{GeV}$$ 2.5 GeV ≲ m a ≲ 60 GeV and various decay channels, some of which have never been considered before: muon pairs, tau pairs, D meson pairs, and di-photon. We interpret the results in the context of models of 4D Composite Higgs and Partial Compositeness in particular.

Abstract The exotic decay modes of non-Standard Model Higgs bosons are efficient in probing the hierarchical Two Higgs Doublet Models (2HDM). In particular, the decay mode H±→HW± serves as a powerful channel in searching for charged Higgses. In this paper, we analyze the reach for H±→HW±→$$ t\overline{t}W $$ t t ¯ W at a 100 TeV pp collider, and show that it extends the reach of the previously studied ττW final states once above the top threshold. Top tagging technique is used, in combination with a boosted decision tree classifier. At the low tan β region, almost the entire hierarchical Type-II 2HDM parameter space can be probed via the combination of all exotic decay channels.

This chapter discusses the representation of the weak interaction as a current-current interaction that violates parity and charge conjugation invariance. It describes the experiments that demonstrate that this violation is maximal. The resulting theory is called the V-A theory of the weak interaction. The chapter works out the predictions of the V-A theory for muon and pion decay and high-energy neutrino scattering and shows the comparison to experiment.

Abstract A search for new physics with non-resonant signals in dielectron and dimuon final states in the mass range above 2 TeV is presented. This is the first search for non-resonant signals in dilepton final states at the LHC to use a background estimate from the data. The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb−1, were recorded by the ATLAS experiment in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of $$ \sqrt{s} $$ s = 13 TeV during Run 2 of the Large Hadron Collider. The benchmark signal signature is a two-quark and two-lepton contact interaction, which would enhance the dilepton event rate at the TeV mass scale. To model the contribution from background processes a functional form is fit to the dilepton invariant-mass spectra in data in a mass region below the region of interest. It is then extrapolated to a high-mass signal region to obtain the expected background there. No significant deviation from the expected background is observed in the data. Upper limits at 95% CL on the number of events and the visible cross-section times branching fraction for processes involving new physics are provided. Observed (expected) 95% CL lower limits on the contact interaction energy scale reach 35.8 (37.6) TeV.
