This article is devoted to the problem of transition from traditional methods and forms to the most modern technologies, design of information management system of the organization. The purpose of this study is to design an information management system of the organization. The objectives of the study are: analysis of traditional forms of management information management systems design IDEF model of information management system. The transition from traditional methods and forms to modern technologies is one of the right solutions. Once implemented, designated users will have appropriate access to the relevant information. It is important to note that not all data entry into the IMS must necessarily be at the management level. Typically, materials for IMS are introduced by unmanaged staff, although they rarely have access to the reports and decision support platforms offered by these systems.

Effective planning, coordination, and scheduling of the maintenance function can be, and for many years was, accomplished without computer support. However, in these days of high technology and rapid, economical data communication, job preparation is accomplished far more efficiently with the support of a sound maintenance management information system. Fast, flexible access to reliable, current, and comprehensive information is vital if planners and managers are to control the maintenance function on the basis of knowledge rather than intuition. The paper presents a maintenance information management system designed for the needs of the healthcare company. Due to its universality, the system can read information from different sources, appropriately process, interpret and deliver it to the right people in the most appropriate manner.

In a building fire disaster, a variety of information on hazardous factors is crucial for emergency responders, facility managers, and rescue teams. Inadequate information management limits the accuracy and speed of fire rescue activities. Furthermore, a poor decision-making process, which is solely dependent on the experiences of emergency responders, negatively affects the fire response activities. Building information modeling (BIM) enables the sharing of locations of critical elements and key information necessary for effective decision-making on disaster prevention. However, it is non-trivial to integrate and link the relevant information generated during the life cycle of the building. In particular, the information requirements for building fires should be retrieved in the BIM software because most of them have spatial characteristics. This paper proposes a prototype system for a building’s fire information management using three-dimensional (3D) visualization by deriving the relevant information required for mitigating building fire disasters. The proposed system (i.e., Building Fire Information Management System (BFIMS)) automatically provides reliable fire-related information through a computerized and systematic approach in conjunction with a BIM tool. It enables emergency responders to intuitively identify the location data of indoor facilities with its pertinent information based on 3D objects. Through scenario-based applications, the system has effectively demonstrated that it has contributed to an improvement of rapid access to relevant information.

This paper describes an online computerized Graduate Student Information Management System developed for the College of Graduate Studies at the Medical University of South Carolina. The system enables the staff of the Office of Graduate Studies to monitor the flow of requests for admission and graduate student compliance with degree requirements. The information system utilizes the MUMPS interpretive language and inverted tree data file structure. The system supports on-line key to disk data entry, editing, updating, sorting, and report generation. It is interfaced with statistical packages such as BMDP and SPSS for data analysis.

In the era of rapid development of information, with the popularization of computers, the development of science and technology, and the continuous growth of IT technology and business, the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system has become a platform and guarantee for the completion of business management processes after long-term operations. Establishing a logistics management information system is an important means for Chinese companies to improve their logistics efficiency. This is the prerequisite for modern companies to gain a competitive advantage in the management of logistics companies. Therefore, organizations must adapt to different needs, fierce competition, and rapid strategic changes. This is a powerful supplement to the nature of logistics companies. The logistics management information system has continuously experienced the processes of MRP, MRP II, and ERP. This article aims to study how to use computers in logistics management to create an ERP system-based enterprise logistics information management system. This article puts forward the development significance of logistics information management system, uses ERP system to analyze complex logistics business in detail, and designs the overall framework, specific functions, and data model of the system in detail. The experimental results of this paper show that the ERP system has important application value in the logistics information management system of supply chain enterprises, and it can effectively increase the value of customer satisfaction by 86.7%.

Seawall is an important barrier of Zhejiang coastal strip. To effectively manage the information of maritime work in Zhejiang and convert the traditional management into the modern management, the information management system of maritime work based on GIS is developed. Take Kaomen seawall for example, the overall structure of information management system based on GIS is designed, focusing on the data entry, spatial attribute show, spatial attribute query, spatial information statistics and analysis. This design plays a significant role in the flood control and disaster reduction in the future, making the information management of maritime work convenient and practical.

Highlights Digital data collection and management system is developed for the USDA-AMS’s shell-egg grading program. Database system consisting of OLTP, data warehouse and OLAP databases enables online data entry and trend reporting. Data and information management is done through web application servers. Users access the databases via web browsers. Abstract . This paper is concerned with development of web-based online data entry and reporting system, capable of centralized data storage and analytics of egg grading records produced by USDA egg graders. The USDA egg grading records are currently managed in paper form. While there is useful information for data-driven knowledge discovery and decision making, the paper-based egg grading record system has fundamental limitations in effective and timely management of such information. Thus, there has been a demand to electronically and digitally store and manage the egg grading records in a database for data analytics and mining, such that the quality trends of eggs observed at various levels (e.g., nation or state) are readily available to decision makers. In this study, we report the design and implementation of a web-based online data entry and reporting information system (called USDA Egg Grading Information Management System, EGIMS), based on a data warehouse framework. The developed information system consisted of web applications for data entry and reporting, and internal databases for data storage, aggregation, and query processing. The internal databases consisted of online transaction processing (OLTP) database for data entry and retrieval, data warehouse (DW) for centralized data storage and online analytical processing (OLAP) database for multidimensional analytical queries. Thus, the key design goal of the system was to build a system platform that could provide the web-based data entry and reporting capabilities while rapidly updating the OLTP, DW and OLAP databases. The developed system was evaluated by a simulation study with statistically-modeled egg grading records of one hypothetical year. The study found that the EGIMS could handle approximately up to 600 concurrent users, 32 data entries per second and 164 report requests per second, on average. The study demonstrated the feasibility of an enterprise-level data warehouse system for the USDA and a potential to provide data analytics and data mining capabilities such that the queries about historical and current trends can be reported. Once fully implemented and tested in the field, the EGIMS is expected to provide a solution to modernize the egg grading practice of the USDA and produce the useful information for timely decisions and new knowledge discovery.
