<p>Corporate social responsibility (CSR) in the context of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) has become an important and substantial area of study for quite a few years. In this literature, while so much research has shed light on what makes SMEs integrate CSR into their business strategy, the existing results regarding their economic, social, and environmental motives are contradictory. In this article, we aim at making a contribution by conducting an integrative study. More specifically, we compare the roles of economic, social, and environmental motives in driving SMEs to make CSR become an integral part of their strategic planning and routine operational performance. Our sample includes 155 French SMEs.</p>

This paper explores the attitudes of large and small firms&rsquo; managers toward Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the motivations behind the implementation of such an initiative. The research revealed a gap in the minute number of studies exploring CSR practices the kingdom&rsquo;s SMEs. There was a further gap in the managers&rsquo; motives towards CSR within the same region. As a way of responding to the four proposed research questions, the researchers surveyed 52 SME and large firms. Ideally, the results showed that large firms pursue traditional CSR practices and record their activities unlike SMEs, which follow a contemporary approach to CSR, with little regard to recording their activities. In addition, large firms significantly perceive CSR as an obligation, while SMEs rely on their board of management&rsquo;s beliefs. This paper provides an insight for the policymakers to adopt different approaches for large and small firms in their implementation of CSR practices in pursuance of satisfactory reports.

Family-managed firms take actions to protect their reputations. We theorize that one such action involves avoiding corporate political activity (CPA) that expose firms to social attack, especially when also invested in corporate social responsibility. Because large firms are frequent targets for social attack, the same sensitivity that encourages most family managers to avoid CPA encourages it among the largest as a buffer. Supportive analysis of Standard and Poor’s 500 firms shows that family-managed firms spend, on average, 86% less on CPA, even less when invested in substantive corporate social responsibility. The largest invest as much or more in CPA as nonfamily peers.

Corporate volunteering (CV) is a new phenomenon in the activities of Russian companies. Based on the use of diachronic analysis, a comparative study of the transformation of the essence and content of corporate volunteering in the works of foreign and domestic scientists and specialists has been carried out. There has been revealed a shift in emphasis from CV as an element of corporate social responsibility, to CV as an independent business process. Due to the novelty of this phenomenon, as well as the complex of characteristics determined on the basis of the use of synchronous analysis, it has been proved that CV can be defined as one of the forms of social innovation.

ABSTRACT This research is aimed to examine andfind out empirical evidence o f the influence o f Cash Flow Volatility, Sales Volatility, Leverage, Firm size, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) on earnings persistence and the influence o f Cash Flow Volatility, Sales Volatility, Leverage, Firm size on earnings persistence when mediated by Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in manufacturing companies consumer goods industry sectors food and beverages listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange period 2011-2015. The sampling method used is purposive sampling, of the population of in manufacturing companies consumer goods industry sectors food and beverages  that exist, would have taken some samples were selected based on certain criteria. Data were tested by means of the classic assumption by using multiple regression analysis techniques (multiple regression) using SPSS 22 for windows. The results show that Cash Flow Volatility, Sales Volatility, Firm size, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)  partially have no influence significant  on Earning persistence. Leverage has  significant effect to earnings persistence. Cash Flow Volatility on earnings persistence when mediated by Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) have significant effect. Sales Volatility, Firm size, Leverage on earnings persistence  when mediated by Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) have not significant effect. The tests are based on a confidence level of 95%, and an error rate of 5%. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji dan mengisi bukti empiris pengaruh Volatilitas Arus Kas, Volatilitas Penjualan, Leverage, Ukuran Perusahaan, Tanggung Jawab Sosial Perusahaan (CSR) terhadap persistensi laba dan pengaruh Volatilitas Arus Kas, Volatilitas Penjualan, Leverage, Perusahaan ukuran pada persistensi pendapatan ketika dimediasi oleh Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) di perusahaan manufaktur sektor industri barang konsumsi makanan dan minuman yang terdaftar di Bursa Efek Indonesia periode 2011-2015. Metode pengambilan sampel yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling, dari populasi perusahaan manufaktur sektor industri barang konsumsi makanan dan minuman yang ada, pasti diambil beberapa sampel yang dipilih berdasarkan kriteria tertentu. Data diuji dengan menggunakan asumsi klasik dengan menggunakan teknik analisis regresi berganda (multiple regression) menggunakan SPSS 22 for windows. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Volatilitas Arus Kas, Volatilitas Penjualan, ukuran Perusahaan, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) secara parsial tidak memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap Earning Persistence. Leverage berpengaruh signifikan terhadap persistensi laba. Volatilitas Arus Kas terhadap persistensi laba ketika dimediasi oleh Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan. Volatilitas Penjualan, ukuran Perusahaan, Leverage pada persistensi laba ketika dimediasi oleh Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) tidak memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan.
