The research objective is to analyze how the role of women in management in SMEs in the textile and clothing sector (TCS), in the southern region of the state of Guanajuato, manifests itself in the five dimensions of Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO). Methodologically this work is quantitative and explanatory, based on a model of structural equations estimated by using the information of a validated questionnaires applied to 103 women managers of the above-mentioned region, contributing to theoretically and empirically increament of the literature on the OE and promote it for a greater boost of business with female leaders who may contribute the socioeconomic development of the region. In conclusion, the women managers of the STC develop the five dimensions of the OE: innovation, by generating new models of garments and being at the forefront. Watering, by investing in raw materials or machinery. Proactivity because they are always looking for new ways to do the activities, they perform for the benefit of the business they lead and retain autonomy by making decisions that improve the performance of their business. Aggressive competitiveness by implementing new ways to conquer customers to excel compared to their competitors.

Abstract

The main goal of this article is to analyze the effect of Entrepreneurial Orientation (EO) as a management strategy on the enterprise performance, differentiating between male and female managers. To carry out the study, information was gathered from 170 companies in the leather-footwear sector of the state of Guanajuato, mainly in the city of León. The designed model was contrasted through a system of structural equations by partial least squares (PLS-SEM) using SmartPLS® software. The general results indicate that although there is a positive effect with performance, there is a difference in the conformation of the EO, depending on the gender of the manager. In the case of women managers, there is a low orientation towards aggressive competitiveness and a greater orientation towards autonomy and proactivity than their counterparts. This study will serve managers, researchers and government officials to guide efforts to strengthen a female management in the region and in the same way academics to generate new theoretical approaches to the construction of EO from a gender perspective.

Keywords: Entrepreneurial Orientation, Women, Management, SME Company, Guanajuato.

This study proposed a line of research on entrepreneurship based on the analysis of personality traits and geographical area. Its objective is to identify whether certain personality traits or sociocultural variables typical of a particular geographical area influence those who have already started an entrepreneurial activity to keep it up, in other words, to maintain their entrepreneurial intention. The research results reach a sample of 479 entrepreneurs from two Iberian Peninsula geographical areas. The analyse of the psychometric properties on the Entrepreneurial Orientation Questionnaire (EOQ) identified five dimensions of the enterprising personality. They also evidence that geographical location is a factor that contributes to the development of the entrepreneurial intentions that determine the business profile. The results show that entrepreneurs in the northern area tend to maintain their business than those in the central zone.

Abstract An owner's leadership style determines how the company carries out the activities in achieving its performance. The entrepreneurial orientation behavior present in an owner also determines how higher business performance can improve success. This study aims to understand how the role of a manager's leadership style and entrepreneurial orientation in improving his business performance. This research used a qualitative Delphi method by collecting in-depth data from 20 company owner. The results indicate the owner's transformational leadership style, a group of medium-sized enterprises that have developed and are beginning to be established, directly determines the applied entrepreneurial orientation. Finally, the application can affect the performance of the business. Behavior entrepreneurial orientation; not only promotes business growth medium, but it can also affect large enterprises' profitability due to the indirect impact achieved by large companies through cooperation in the supply of raw materials for products. The impact of increasing innovation power, proactive power, and risk-taking power on business performance arise from the support of a transformational leadership style. When transformational leadership styles and entrepreneurial orientations combine, medium-sized enterprises will achieve higher performance.

The primary purpose of this study was to propose a conceptual framework on the impact of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) on SMEs performance in Ghana: The role of social capital (SC) and government support policies (GSPs). The study reviewed existing literature pertaining the five dimensions of EO and used measures of SC, and GSPs in relation to SMEs performance in Ghana. This study would be anchored on two theories thus the resource-based view and the social capital theories stressing the need for SMEs to focus more on their unique resources that existed within their social network relations. The study would further provide new insight to practitioners to understand and appreciate the role of SC and GSPs on SMEs performance

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to measure the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and performance of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The aim is to contribute to the extant literature about the role of EO for SMEs development, and more specifically to identify implications that can inform knowledge-based initiatives of entrepreneurship universities focussing on the development and diffusion of the entrepreneurial culture and capacity. Design/methodology/approach This research paper adopts a quantitative approach to investigate a conceptual framework linking EO to SME’s performance. The central postulated hypothesis is that EO positively affects performance of SMEs. This hypothesis has been tested by using a system of partial least squares of structural equations modelling, adopting the SmartPLS® 3.0 software (Ringle et al., 2015). The empirical context analysed 170 SMEs operating in the Bajio Region (México) in the leather–footwear sector. Findings The results provide evidence that Mexican companies that manifest EO have a positive effect on their firm performance. Similarly, findings emphasise that both risk taking and innovativeness are currently the central axes of EO for the analysed companies. Accordingly, entrepreneurial universities should be engaged in the development of EO of students, academic staff and companies by focussing on knowledge-based actions that can foster the improvement of some specific features of the EO. Practical implications The results provide insights about the relationships between EO and the performance of SMEs indicating that potentials initiatives of entrepreneurship universities aiming to support the development capacity of SMEs as well as of students and academic staff should be focussed on the critical dimensions characterising EO. Originality/value This paper provides insights into the role of EO for SMEs performance. It provides three main contributions. First, derived from literature research, it proposes a working definition of EO. Second, the empirical research findings support an understanding of the relationship between EO and Mexican SMEs performance and propose a multiple and reflective dimension of EO’s model. Moreover, finally, this research provides some implications for entrepreneurship universities aiming to create and diffuse an entrepreneurial culture and capabilities by fostering the development of the EO.

Purpose This study aims to explore the moderating impact of narcissism overload on the relation between founder CEO and entrepreneurial orientation (EO) in registered private schools of Pakistan. Design/methodology/approach Data were collected through a stratified random sampling method with the help of previously validated questionnaires. A sample of 121 replies was gathered for analysis. SPSS has been used to find the results. Findings Results depict that CEO narcissism moderates the relation between founder CEO and EO and does not moderate the relationship between and CEO ownership and EO. Originality/value Many studies focused on the founder personality characteristics (such as generalized self-efficacy or locus of control) are not directly observed, but rather inferred their effect indirectly. The study contributes to examine how the founder CEO variable interacts with CEO personality to influence EO. This study will propose a practical approach to investigate whether and how the narcissism constructs moderate the founder CEO–EO relationship. Direct association between stock ownership and EO will also be examined.

Abstract At present, markets have been increasingly competitive, where small and medium-sized companies have encountered new challenges for the correct performance before these challenges, one of them is to increase their innovation, for which the search skills that lead them to achieve it becomes of vital importance in managerial decision making. That is why the objective of the study was to analyze the entrepreneurial orientation in the innovation of small and medium-sized companies in Mexico. The influence of the dimensions of proactivity, innovation capacity and risk taking in the entrepreneurial orientation in the innovation of 400 small and medium-sized companies in an emerging country like Mexico is determined. The research was quantitative, transversal, for which a questionnaire was applied to senior management, analyzing the data through the modeling of structural equations. The results indicate that the dimensions of risk taking and proactivity have a positive and significant influence, whereas the innovation capacity has a positive but not significant influence, concluding that it implies organizational behaviors with a propensity towards greater acceptance of market risks and a better reaction to trends and changes

Purpose This research draws upon the resource-based view and the dynamic capabilities view’s premise that a firm’s resources and capabilities determine competitive advantage. Specifically, the purpose of this paper is to develop and test a model entailing simultaneously the impact of intangible resources; and dynamic capabilities and entrepreneurial orientation on export performance. Design/methodology/approach Therefore, the authors developed a study based on a survey of 265 Portuguese exporting companies. Data were submitted to a multivariate statistical analysis and a linear regression model was applied in order to predict the influence of the intangible resources on export performance. The structural equations model was used for this purpose. Findings The results show that export performance is directly impacted by dynamic capabilities and entrepreneurial orientation. However, intangible resources do not have a significant direct impact on entrepreneurial orientation; they do have an indirect effect through the mediation of dynamic capabilities. These findings highlight the catalyst role of dynamic capabilities and entrepreneurial orientation, leveraging the role of intangible resources as antecedents of export performance. These findings are valuable inputs for exporting managers and public entities. Originality/value While previous authors have attempted to analyse certain aspects of this process (linkage between intangible resources and export performance), this research developed a framework that combines these ones with entrepreneurial orientation and dynamic capabilities.

The severe shocks that rocked the world economy in the 1970s and the ensuing efforts to adjust and to renew economic growth have had a profound effect on the economic literature. Especially the external and public debt problems which reached critical dimensions in many countries attracted much attention. Thus, in the field of macroeconomics financial issues have gained more prominence over the last two decades. Studies relating to the fiscal deficit have been particularly numerous. The critical size of national public debts, the contribution of the public debt to external debt, the reduced confidence in the state as the guide in socioeconomic development and the role of fiscal policy in adjustment processes are among the main reasons for this increased interest.
