Gender mainstreaming in agriculture is new trend to address the inequalities of resources and work participation between men and women for ensuring equity in gender. Though women constitute about half of the total agricultural labour, their access to resources as well as decision making power is limited. Particularly, women in rice-based farming system though undertake hard work, own or share very limited resources and benefits in comparison to other systems. Various needs of women, while undertake research and technologies developed should be addressed appropriately through gender focussed planning, project implementation, monitoring as well as impact assessment. A systematic understanding and capacity building of the planners, researchers, development and extension machineries on innovative mechanism and gender sensitive perspectives would bring socioeconomic upliftment of not only women but the whole society.

The article considers gender aspects of social policy formation in Ukraine. It is determined that the European integration vector of development chosen by Ukraine requires observance of the principles of sustainable development and achievement of equality of women and men in all spheres of society. It was found that the perception of gender in society is not a stable category, but depends on cultural and social traditions, and may change with changing environments. Ukraine's steps over the past 5 years to implement the principle of gender equality are analyzed and it is established that Ukraine has a sufficiently developed regulatory framework, however, its practical implementation is still imperfect. The creation of gender profiles of regions has been studied and it has been found that they are a useful tool for developing strategies for the development of the region, in determining the priorities of social policy, monitoring and evaluation of activities, etc. It was found that gender mainstreaming in social policy-making will emphasize the special needs of women and men in need of state assistance, which will ensure more accurate policy formulation, efficient allocation of resources, targeted use of budget funds and gender-sensitive decision-making. Innovative approaches to gender mainstreaming in social policy-making at both national and regional levels are analyzed. It is established that gender audit will ensure gender parity of participants in the decision-making process, and gender analysis of decisions or policies in general is aimed at identifying problems and differentiating needs and interests, taking into account gender distribution. Their using in the process of formation and implementation of social policy will make it possible to prevent gender inequality and ensure the formation of gender-sensitive social policy.

Gender issues are present in waste management, from daily handling activities through to decision-making processes. In waste education programs, the disregard for views of and contribution by women has resulted in strategies that do not comprehensively address the waste issue, preventing long-standing and sustainable outcomes, while increasing existing gender inequities. Three critical waste matters on education and gender were identified: (1) lack of meaningful involvement and participation of women (and other vulnerable groups) throughout the decision-making processes; (2) lack of inclusion of gender-specific designs and gender-sensitive approaches in the information and education materials; and (3) tendency to devise strategies directed to women only, while exempting the other stakeholders from their responsibilities. This paper presents a closer look into the relationship between waste education and gender, with a proposal of a participatory framework for gender mainstreaming in waste education programs. It includes components to assess the promoting entity of the waste education program and all stages of the program. The framework represents a novel theory and practice contribution for waste education development, to support academics, practitioners, and policymakers, in the quest of achieving equitable and sustainable waste management systems for all.

Rekayasa Sosial Aksesibilitas Nafkah Dan Ketersediaan Pangan Responsif Gender Suku Anak Dalam Analisis Kemandirian Masyarakat Melalui Posdaya Abstrak Suku Anak Dalam (SAD) is one of the native communities transformed by the tension of transmigration and palm oil plantations. This study aims to determine the pattern of living, gender relations, and knowledge of local food in SAD community. By using qualitative research methods, this study showed that the SAD community condition is toward the threat of “livelihood and food security crisis“. The moulds of masculinity and femininity determined by society are not only determinants of the way in which individuals behave in society, but also determinants of the production and distribution of the resources. The steady development of societies can be achieved when men and women have the equal power with equal opportunities and resources to shape their own lives and to contribute to their families, societies and countries. The internationally recognized indicators of aforesaid gender mainstreaming are the areas of Economic Participation and Opportunity, Educational Attainment, Health and Survival, and Political Empowerment. In Turkey, even though the legal basis of equality of women and men in these areas have been strengthened through legislative regulations enforced, the need to overcome the obstacles women face when participating to social life as complete and equal individuals and taking all precautions for this is still ongoing. In this study, gender equality in the Turkish higher education system was examined. For this purpose, the schooling rates in higher education, employment rates and participation rates in decision making mechanisms in management of women were examined in the light of gender equality indicators. In this study, which was conducted by document reviewing among qualitative research methods, official websites and documents of international organizations and Turkish official institutions were examined in order to access reliable documents related to Turkish Higher Education and gender equality variables. The survey concluded that while the schooling rates in the Turkish higher education and employment rates of women are high, the proportion of female academicians decreased as the academic degrees increased and that the horizontal disintegration patterns between the scientific areas are more visible on the basis of sub-branches. Furthermore, it has been found out that women are not adequately represented in decision-making mechanisms, even though they provide the necessary conditions.

Gender mainstreaming is important in the national development process, especially those related to aspects of leadership in order to realize gender equality in development. The purpose of this study is to analyze Gender Mainstreaming in a Leadership perspective at the Regional Government Agencies level. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Activities in data analysis in this study were carried out based on data reduction, data display, and conclusion stages. The results showed that the fairness aspect showed that there was no special treatment between men and women in the placement of structural positions / positions in the Regional Government Agencies of Makassar City. From the aspect of justice shows that if there is a deviation carried out by the State Civil Apparatus (ASN) it will be subject to sanctions based on the mechanism applied and from the Equity aspect showing the freedom of opinion and giving aspirations not limited by sex but all opinions can be delivered openly while having good contribution to work. In typical focused leadership there were no problems related to gender and gender privileges to occupy leadership positions, this was due to consideration of the capacity of individuals to become leaders as well as typical communicative leaders supporting gender mainstreaming from an equity aspect showing men and women getting equal opportunities to channel opinions or aspirations to the leadership. but the most prominent typical of some typical leadership is that communication leadership is highlighted by women, this can be seen from the coordination carried out with other employees. While men emphasize typical trust lesdership and respectful leadership.

Abstract. The Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) region is among the most discrete and diverse region facing various ecological, environmental and socio-economic threats in terms of increasing demands for natural resources and its consequences in the form of overexploitation, disaster, droughts, extreme weather, and climate change etc. Geospatial information technology (GIT) with Earth observation (EO) data are effectively supporting the implementation of development agendas in HKH by providing extensive solutions to above-pressing issues by not only addressing them but also providing services in daily life. These technologies have effectively bolstered in time via innovation, creating jobs and confidence in people that supports filling the data and knowledge gaps in the region. However, the involvement and participation of women in GIT is mere in the region despite their vital role in environmental management and decision making. Realizing the issue, we acknowledged and implemented the twin challenges i.e. capacity building and gender equality for building the pathways to sustainable development via innovative steps and processes to bridge the gender imbalance in GIT workforce in HKH. For the purpose, we organized various capacity building trainings and workshops with a broad focus towards GIT applications in forest, agriculture, water management, drought and climate change along with the hands-on exercises. In addition, specific women focused training programs i.e. Empowering Nepali Women through Technology Training and Women in GIT were organized during 2017 and 2018 respectively. These efforts delivered optimistic results in terms of building confidence, decision making and more women participation showing an increment of ~5% participation by women in 2017–2018 fiscal year with respect to 2016–2017 fiscal year. In HKH nations with less social parity, the information delivered by this gender mainstreaming effort will have life-changing implications to achieve workforce parity.
