The current state of development of domestic iron ore enterprises and the situation regarding the introduction and use of innovative measures are analyzed. The situation of out-dated technologies, which are used at domestic iron ore enterprises, in particular, the use of converters and open-hearth furnaces at metallurgical enterprises, is considered. It is determined that the use of outdated production technologies causes significant damage to the environment and predetermines low energy efficiency of production. The characteristics of the participants of the world steel and iron ore market are described. The dynamics of M & A deals on the world steel market is explored. On the basis of the main indicators dynamics data of the innovation activity of the mining and metallurgical complex, we have discovered that its innovation and investment development in recent years is characterized by considerable instability.

Introduction. An attempt is made to analyze the dynamics of labor productivity in the iron-making industry of the Urals using the equal cost vector during the replacement of welding iron production technologies with cast steel production technologies in open-hearth and Bessemer furnaces, as well as to determine the heuristic potential of this method. Materials and Methods. The study uses a vector of equal costs. This vector connects the points on the graph that reflect the number of two products released per unit of resource for a certain period of time. The source of the study was the “Collections of statistical data of the mining industry of Russia”. Results. The vectors of equal costs for the production of iron and steel per worker of the iron- making industries of the Urals in 1893–1911 are constructed. The periods in the development of iron-making production are highlighted. Discussion and Conclusion. The method of equal cost vectors revealed the following: 1) rational use of labor in private factories and irrational in state-owned ones; 2) significant influence of the Nadezhdinsky Plant on the structure of iron-making industries; 3) a more precise chronological framework for the replacement of welding iron production technologies by open-hearth and seedless production, the influence of market conditions on this process; 4) the replacement of old technologies with new ones did not cause an increas

Plastic waste production around the world is increasing, which leads to global plastic waste pollution. The need for an innovative solution to reduce this pollution is inevitable. Increased recycling of plastic waste alone is not a comprehensive solution. Furthermore, decreasing fossil-based plastic usage is an important aspect of sustainability. As an alternative to fossil-based plastics in the market, bio-based plastics are gaining in popularity. According to the studies conducted, products with similar performance characteristics can be obtained using biological feedstocks instead of fossil-based sources. In particular, bioplastic production from microalgae is a new opportunity to be explored and further improved. The aim of this study is to determine the current state of bioplastic production technologies from microalgae species and reveal possible optimization opportunities in the process and application areas. Therefore, the species used as resources for bioplastic production, the microalgae cultivation methods and bioplastic material production methods from microalgae were summarized.

Although our country is the big steel country in the world, she is not the steel power in the world. One of the reasons is that in recent years the minor iron and steel enterprise springing up and this scene seriously disturbs the normal development of the steel industry in our country, thus weakening our right to decide the price of imports iron ore. Quantities of national wealth have been largely passed on. Therefore, building up a strong steel enterprise by merger and recombination, improving iron ore market and developing the circular economy become inevitable selection for enhancing China's power for iron ore pricing.

In modern economic conditions, the domestic timber industry complex is characterized by the complexity and peculiarities of its activity, connected with the high level of available risks in the introduction of innovations and the latest production technologies. There are also risks of investment in technological innovation, determined by risks of a temporary nature between the stages of financing in innovation and the results obtained. LPC activities are characterized by unstable demand for innovative timber products. Most risks affect, to varying degrees, attracting investment capital and increasing financial resources for the development of the forest sector as a whole. The poor transport infrastructure for forest production, poor quality of forest resources due to extensive forest management, as well as the large volume of illegally harvested wood and the depletion of its reserves are constraints on the innovative development of timber enterprises. To a large extent, the precarious financial situation of timber enterprises is due to the high material and energy intensity of production, with higher prices and tariffs for natural monopolies. The article defines the current state of the innovative component of the enterprises of the forest industry complex, defines possible ways to increase innovation activity on the basis of the investigated indicators.

PurposeScholars are increasingly acknowledging the importance of conversations in the management of complex projects. Defining dialectics as “the art of purposeful conversation”, this paper aims to rationalise the somewhat disorganised field of dialectics by developing a categoreal scheme.Design/methodology/approachThe authors refer to the current state of research into the conversational aspects of complex projects, and examine the historical development of, and philosophical and scholarly commentary on, the dialectical method.FindingsThe categories the authors propose are the Socratic, Conversational, Fichtean and Peircean. They differ in relation to the subject matter of the dialectic; their vulnerability to environmental influences; the degree of structure they require for optimal performance; and the situations in which they might most profitably be applied.Research limitations/implicationsA single categoreal scheme is rarely the last word, and the authors invite other scholars to explore the field in a similar way.Practical implicationsThe scheme proposed here is intended to enhance the project manager's approach to conversations, by referring to the specific virtues and limitations of each of the categories.Social implicationsThe informed use of dialectics may help to ameliorate the significant damage done to organisations and economies around the world by failed and underperforming projects.Originality/valueThe authors present the first categorisation of the field, with the aim of equipping the practitioner to think about dialectical approaches in a more systematic way.

WITHIN the limits of a brief article such as this must necessarily be, it is impossible to do more than indicate the chief sources of iron-ore supply. The subject is a big one, and of great importance, not only to the British ironmaster, but also to every inhabitant of this country. I am therefore pleased to be able to state that the Federation of Iron and Steel Manufacturers has not only asked the Imperial Mineral Resources Bureau to prepare a summary of the existing information as to the iron-ore supplies of the world, but is also assisting to finance the inquiry. This will mean a more complete survey than is possible to-day.

Today, Ukraine has retained a fairly strong scientific potential. However, the level of patent and innovation activity in Ukraine is low, because the state provides for a small percentage of the gross domestic product (GDP) that goes to finance research. In recent years, the number of research works and staff of research institutes has been shrinking rapidly due to chronic underfunding and outdated experimental research equipment. For the same reason, the citation index of works of Ukrainian scientists is low. The weak material base of the Ukrainian research institutes stipulates that the ratio of experimental to theoretical scientific and technical developments has been decreasing in recent years. Most patents are registered by Ukrainian scientists in Ukraine - in Ukrpatent. The majority of international patents are granted to Ukrainians in the USA, Germany and Switzerland. Against the background of the integration of Ukrainian scientists into the world community, there is a significant increase in the number of joint scientific publications of Ukrainian scientists with foreign colleagues. In recent years, the world has seen a rapid increase in patents on nanotechnology in the most technologically advanced countries in the world. The patent and innovation activity in Ukraine is expected to grow rapidly in the near future. The main goal is to ensure rapid and qualitative transformation of creative ideas into innovative products and services that increase the level of innovation of the national economy.
