scholarly journals Electromagnetically Compatible and Virtual Flux DPC Control Techniques for 3-Phase Distributed Generation Fed by Active Rectifier

This paper gives different control mechanisms comparison for active rectifiers fed grid connected 3-phase distributed generation systems from non-conventional energy sources. The control strategies presented here are Direct Power Control, 2 other DPC methods DPC to reduce CM voltage emissions that are EMC-I-DPC and EMC-II-DPC. Another two strategies are also presented with a concept of virtual flux i.e EMC-I-VF-DPC and EMC-II-VF-DPC. MATLAB/Simulink software is used to implement the so called techniques and the parameters like are injected current into electric grid , %Total harmonic distortion of current injected vs. generated power, %Total harmonic distortion of current injected vs DC link voltage (Vdc) and %Total harmonic distortion of current injected vs CM voltages are shown.

In the Electrical Engineering Study Program, Udayana University, a Solar Power Plant was installed with a power of 26.4 kWp, a Wind Power Plant with a power of 5 kWp and a Diesel Power Plant with a capacity of 20 kVA. The size of harmonics in the electric power system is called Total Harmonic Distortion (THD). THDi's research results at DH Electrical Engineering Building of Udayana University before the operation of Distributed Generation (DG) were that R phase was 9.91%, S phase was 10.86%, and T phase was 9.85%. THDi value after the operation of Distributed Generation, R phase was 16.05%, S phase was 17.53%, and T phase was 15.70%. THDi value with LC filter, R phase was 4.0%, S phase was 5.52% and T phase was 3.97%. THDv value before the operation of Distributed Generation, R phase was 0.08%, S phase was 0.48% and T phase was 0.47%. THDv value after the operation of Distributed Generation, R phase was 0.24%, S phase was 0.44% and T phase was 0.49%. THDv value with LC filter, R phase was 0.01%, S phase was 0.01% and T phase was 0.02%. The results of the research showed that losses before the operation of Distributed Generation were 115.53 Watts and the value of losses after the operation of Distributed Generation had increased to 130.07 Watts.

This paper presents fixed switching frequency direct power control (FSF-DPC) for three-phase AC/DC converter. Sensorless control strategies based on virtual-flux can optimize the performance of the system. In this paper, realization of pulse width modulation method for FSF-DPC is presented. The simulation results show that the system running performance is good.

Islanding detection of Distributed Generation (DG) is considered as one of the most important aspects when interconnecting DGs to the distribution system. It was the crucial problem in distributed generation. This detection phenomenon having a great importance. These detection methods are divided into active and passive islanding detection. These two methods are based on changing in parameters such as frequency, voltage and current harmonics. But these methods have some challenges such as reduction in power quality and large Non Detection Zone (NDZ). In this paper, the proposed method is change of Total harmonic distortion (THD) will be studied for islanding detection diagnosis. The studied system was considered by following the standard IEEE-1547 and UL-1741.The system was simulated using MATLAB/ SIMULINK.

This paper presents a new selective switching strategy for single phase SPWM Inverter that can reduce the power loss and total harmonic distortion. Power loss is always a command issue for inverter system. Power loss occurs during the switching of the inverter. This new selective switching strategy is modified from the typical switching strategy and has been proven to reduce the power loss and harmonics. This project had already been tested on direct power source and also from the solar PV module. This project is focusing on 100W inverter system.

This paper proposes a switching control for a cascaded H-bridge inverter structure with reduced switches which is used to improve the THD performance of a single phase five level CHB MLI. The multi level inverter is simulated for the conventional carrier overlapping APOD and the proposed carrier overlapping APOD Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) switching control technique. The total harmonic distortion (THD) of the output voltages are observed for both PWM control techniques. The performance of the symmetric CHB MLI is simulated using MATLAB-SIMULINK. It is observed that the proposed carrier overlapping APODPWM provides output with relatively low THD as compared to the conventional carrier overlapping APODPWM.

Multiphase machines have attracted the attention of the research and industrial communities due to their advantages, namely better power distribution and fault-tolerant capabilities without extra hardware. However, the multiphase machine requires high-performance control strategies to take advantage of these features. From this perspective, the field-oriented control with the inner current control loop that uses using an explicit modulation stage has been considered the benchmark solution thanks to the reduced harmonic distortion obtained with this regulation strategy. Nevertheless, nonlinear controllers, thanks to their inherent nature, allow exploiting the extra multiphase capabilities in a simplified manner. Consequently, this paper aims to concentrate and discuss the latest developments on nonlinear current control of two of the most popular multiphase electric drive configurations, five-phase and six-phase. Then, this paper covers mainly finite-control-set model predictive control and their variations. Moreover, sliding-mode control is also explained. Finally, this paper includes experimental assessments of the most recent nonlinear current control techniques considering steady-state and transient conditions, stability and performance analysis.
