Day by day as the volume of data is being generated massively, storing of data and processing of data becomes a ever growing challenge in intelligent transport system (ITS). In intelligent transport system there are different areas to concentrate like smart parking systems, dynamic toll charging, smart traffic management etc. This paper is mainly focused on big data architecture for intelligent transport system for dynamic toll charging, traffic management and traffic analysis related data collection from various sources. The data collected from various sources can be in the form of structured data, semi structured data and unstructured data. Because of verity of data collected, this paper gives an idea about which data model is appropriate depending on data collected for transportation system.

Abstract Intelligent Transport System (ITS) is a worldwide movement meant to use advanced technology to make the ground transport systems more efficient, clogging-free, more secure and less polluting. The present technologies permit the development of applications for traffic monitoring in a semaphored crossroads. The solution proposed is a low-cost one, using FPGA DE0 development platform. The implementation and simulation of the application have been realized in Quartus II 13.1 and the diagrams corresponding to the outputs and inputs have been obtained using ModelSim- Altera 10.1d.

The progress of work on the creation of an "intelligent transport system" in Kazakhstan, the development and modernization of the road industry will be reported. The economic and social effectiveness of several transport corridors and new projects were analyzed. Transport corridors of foreign countries, methods of providing logistics services were presented. In his address, the head of state paid special attention to the issues of digitalization of all spheres of life of the population, including the transport sector of Kazakhstan. Currently, the Ministry of investment and development of the Republic of Kazakhstan is working on the creation of an "intelligent transport system" within the framework of the state program «Digital Kazakhstan» (ITS). ITS goal is to systematically integrate transport infrastructure, transport devices and users with modern information and communication technologies aimed at improving the safety and efficiency of the transport process. The concept will include 11 components in ITS. One of them is a special automated measuring instruments (UAVs), which are installed in the main automobile corridors. This device is designed to measure moving vehicles without contact and eliminate unjustified stops. This year, it is planned to put into operation 10 units of RSPP, and by 2020 it is planned to increase their number to 46 units. It is also planned to introduce a traffic management system that will inform drivers about the situation on the roads, a system for forecasting and analyzing climatic conditions, which is carried out through a network of weather stations along the roads, a network of video monitoring and special video cameras for detecting traffic violations, toll road systems that cover the cost of maintenance of the national road network, etc. They will be introduced in stages until 2021. The implementation of this project will reduce road deaths, increase the volume of transit traffic and the speed of logistics services, fully cover the main highways with measuring instruments and create favorable conditions for drivers on the roads. Such systems are already operating in South Korea, Japan, Australia, Europe and the United States.

The paper analyzes the current guidelines of the European Union on deployment of Intelligent Transport System, as well as their importance for the development of the Croatian transportation system. The crucial problems of modern transport and traffic are indicated as: congestions and congestion costs, harmful emissions in road transport, fatalities, etc. The current state of Intelligent Transport System development in Croatia is presented based on the transport infrastructure, modern road telematic industry, and other supporting activities (including scientific research, educational activities, standardization system, etc.). The final part of the paper deals with the need and potentials for the development of South East European regional ITS architecture.


Vehicle tracking and classification are used for intelligent transport system to provide data in terms of traffic management, routing, vehicle volume and others. A new approach will be introduced in this paper, a hybrid classifier that would detect vehicles that would be adaptable to Philippine settings. A combination of convolutional neural network and gradient boosted classifier would boost the classifying accuracy. In the discussion, CNN has outperformed other classifier in terms of accuracy while GBC got the highest AUROC and highest accuracy in terms of classifying. Although CNN and GBC is prone to overfitting, the dataset that will be used contains 1 hour of video.

This chapter prospects on the desirability of deployable Intelligent Transport System (ITS) solutions that can improve on the existing traffic management systems in a developing country. The chapter unveils that there is little or no specific plan targeted at any future deployment in Nigeria, for instance. Revealing that a systematic deployment of ITS applications, with candid appreciations from the citizenries, could follow the order of advanced public transport system trailed by advanced traffic management systems, advanced vehicle communication systems or advanced traveler information systems, and intelligent transport pricing systems. It concludes that the country could develop context-specific evidence-based policies toward the deployment of ITS, capable of intuitively adapting to the future traffic demands and inclusively improve transport efficiency and safety. The chapter also provide a conceptual policy framework considering people's needs as context-specific, which facilitates constructive discussion informing policy direction.

Intelligent transport system (ITS), owing to their potential to enhance road safety and improve traffic management, have attracted attention from automotive industries and academia in recent years. The underlying technology—i.e., vehicular ad-hoc networks (VANETs)—provide a means for vehicles to intelligently exchange messages regarding road and traffic conditions to enhance safety. The open nature of ITS as wireless communication technology leads to many security and privacy challenges. These challenges pertain to confidentiality, authentication, integrity, non-repudiation, location privacy, identity privacy, anonymity, certificate revocation, and certificate resolution. This article aims to propose a novel taxonomy of security and privacy issues and solutions in ITS. Furthermore, categorization of security and privacy schemes in ITS and their limitations are discussed with various parameters—scalability, privacy, computational cost, communication overhead, latency—and various types of security attacks has been analyzed. This article leverages new researchers for challenges and opportunities related to security and privacy in ITS.

Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) theory is developed nearly a dozen years which is focused on building integrated transportation system, its success will inevitably have a fundamental change in the way the current traffic works. ITS is a large complex system, with integrated multidisciplinary knowledge to implement. The paper explores a new way of integrating big data insights with automated and assisted processes related to ITS. We show how innovation from China Si Chuan Province Traffic Management Bureau under our big data implementation to improve their business performance. With the new big data algorithm, we could predict drivers' behavior, and ultimately understand which factors are influencing the most. The architecture and implementation is thoroughly introduced in the paper, and we point out the future extension in the end.

A well-functioning transport network is a key element of a successful economy. One of the biggest problems in transportation is the large number of vehicles, which leads to congestion. Traffic congestion negatively influences the social and economic environment: it creates pollution and causes many accidents. A variety of innovative technologies are being applied in all areas. Different countries use Intelligent Transport Systems to create a safer, more efficient, and sustainable transport system to monitor and manage traffic flow. The application of Intelligent Transport Systems helps solve problems in the transport sector: Intelligent Transport Systems helps manage traffic flows, reduce accident rates, environmental pollution, and inform drivers and passengers about the traffic situation. Consequently, Intelligent Transport System improves the efficiency of the transport system, the quality of services, increases mobility, reduces energy consumption, and reduces the negative impact of vehicles on the environment. As reported by the Department of Statistics data in Lithuania, the number of road vehicles in the Vilnius region increases every year. Traffic accidents remain constant, and long-lasting traffic jams occur. Due to these reasons, Vilnius and its residents incur economic costs, and the transport system is used inefficiently. This article examines the importance of Intelligent Transport System application in solving congestion, pollution and accidents in Vilnius. A cost-benefit analysis of the Automatic Incident Detection System installation in Vilnius is performed.

The article deals with the issues of innovative development of passenger transport through the introduction of IT technologies; intelligent transport systems in major cities of the world; the functions of the state in the creation and operation of intelligent transport systems. The article analyzes the legal framework of the Republic of Belarus, the state of information technologies in transport, and the need for their integration. A number of practical steps aimed at creating an intelligent transport system in Minsk are proposed.
