This study was recorded a new genus and species of Iraq, Tephrosia nubica (Boiss.) Baker during the field trips in the Western Desert District, specifically in Al- Walaj valley, which cutting the Iraq- Jordan highway (75 km. West of Rutba) in winter and spring seasons of the year 2019. The species was identified depending on Flora of neighboring and nearby countries with a comprehensive morphological description as well as some drawing and photos for vegetative and floral (reproductive) parts with a distribution map of the species. Some plant samples of the species collected in the Iraqi national herbarium were deposited in numbers 60038,60039, and 60040, in addition to Anbar University herbarium in numbers 4329, 4330 and 4331 after confirming that there is no specimens of genus and species in all Iraqi herbaria.

Abstract The Western Desert is a wide area of Iraq, it is bordered by three Arab countries, and characterized by the great plant diversity in the rainy years, including year 2019, during the spring season of the same year, a number of field trips were carried out in which wild plants were collected, and among them was Astragalus vogelii (webb) Bornm. of the papilionaceae family for the first time in Iraq, specifically in the Obealah valley, which intersects with the highway road towards Jordan and Syria (about 18 km. west of Rutba). The species was identificated according to the Flora of neighboring and near countries, the morphological description of the sprcies was done through a taxonomic treatment supported by photographic and microscopic images for all floral and vegetative parts, as well as anatomical description of the stem based on the cross section. Amap was also developed the specifies the locations of the species distribution. After making sure that there was no previous sample for the species in the Iraqi Herbaria, the sample of this study were deposited in the Iraqi National Herbarium with numbers 60340, 60341, 60342 and in the Anbar University Herbarium with numbers 6670, 6671, 6672 and 6673.

Tettagalma striata, new genus and species of Tettigarctidae (Hemiptera: Cicadoidea), is described from the Lower Cretaceous laminated limestones of the Crato Formation, Brazil. The new discovery represents the first certain record of this family in Brazil and confirms its presence in the Southern Hemisphere during the early Cretaceous. Architettix Hamilton, 1990, from the same formation, and all the taxa originally placed in Cicadoprosbolidae, are also included in Tettigarctidae, as the former is considered a synonym.

Despite having been first published in 1941, Carya poilanei (Chev.) Leroy is only known from two original collections in Vietnam and Laos; however, it has not been recollected since then and long suspected to be extinct by repeated deforestation events. Here, we report the rediscovery, and meanwhile the first new record in China, of this extremely rare gigantic hickory species at Yunnan province after 80 years. Three small patchy subpopulations were found with a total of about 50 adult trees have diameter at breast height (DBH) larger than 60 cm, together with some seedlings and saplings, but the fruit set was low. Based on multiple fresh materials, we present a revised morphological description of C. poilanei, and an updated distribution map for the species. In addition, we also provided a key for the hickories in China. Lastly, we suggest C. poilanei should be listed as Critically Endangered (CR) or Endangered (EN) species according to the latest IUCN Red List Categories and Criteria.

Hamadiana chapadensis gen. n. and sp. n. is described based on a single male specimen collected in Central Brazil. The new species belongs to the diving beetle tribe Laccophilini but could not be assigned to any existing genera, therefore a new genus is described to accommodate it. Hamadiana gen. n. is unique among Laccophilini in having the hind margin of the metacoxal process deeply incised and medially slightly protruded backwards. In addition, it differs from other genera of the tribe by having the antennomeres simple, not expanded, the metacoxal lines not straight, and the metatibiae with two simple apical spurs. The habitus, male genitalia, and diagnostic features are illustrated, and a distribution map is provided. A recently published key to Laccophilini is modified to include the new genus.


Pachypleurosaur material from the Middle Triassic ‘ Grenzbitumen’-horizon (Anis-Ladin boundary) of Monte San Giorgio, Kanton Tessin, Switzerland, is described as a new genus and species, Serpianosaurus mirigiolensis .A detailed morphological description is followed by a quantitative analysis. The taxon differs from other pachypleurosaurids primarily by its relatively large skull and its straight lower jaw. Rib pachyostosis is absent. In most characters the taxon remains plesiomorphous with respect to other pachypleurosaurs from the Middle Triassic deposits of Monte San Giorgio, which accords well with its early stratigraphic occurrence at that locality. Sexual dimorphism is expressed by the size and shape of the humerus. A cladistic analysis shows the Pachypleurosauridae to constitute the sistergroup of all other Sauropterygia. The Sauropterygia and the Placodontia together form a monophyletic group, the Euryapsida, which is subordinated to the Diapsida and to the Neodiapsida, but which is classifed outside the archosauromorph-lepidosauromorph dichotomy within the Neodiapsida. A concluding paragraph discusses the status of the pachypleurosaurs within the Sauropterygia. Skull structure, and jaw mechanics in particular, suggest a relatively plesiomorph position of pachypleurosaurs within the Sauropterygia. Their adaptation to an aquatic mode of life was not carried to the degree observed in other sauropterygians, and the ability for rapid and deep dives seems to have been limited by middle-ear structure.

A new genus with a new species of soft-winged flower beetle, Pectotibialis paghmanensis Tshernyshev gen. et sp. nov. are described from Afghanistan. The new genus can be distinguished from the congeners of the tribe Apalochrini by the dark pectination in the apices of tibiae in both sexes, and the anterior tibiae which are hollowed at distal half, flattened and rounded femora, bituberculate basal parts of head and pronotum, two lamellate metathoracic appendages, tarsal comb above second tarsomere of anterior legs, and serrate antennae in the male. Based on the metathoracic appendages and comb in anterior legs would attribute this new species to the new genus Dromanthomorphus Pic, 1921, but all the other above-mentioned characters define its independent status and the designation of a new genus; Pectotibialis Tshernyshev gen. nov. The external appearance, special male characters and genitalia of the type species of the new genus are illustrated, and a distribution map is provided. A key to the Apalochrus-section of the tribe Apalochrini is provided.

Lotus garcinii is a new additional plant species to papilionaceae family in flora of Iraq for the first time found at Al-Imsad Dam region (South of Rutba) of Western Desert District (DWD) from Iraq. The species was collected in spring season of 2017 and 2018, preserved in National Herbarium of Iraq(BAG) with the numbers 59780, 59781 and 59782. The identification of the species was confirmed by using some Flora of the neighboring countries for Iraq, taxonomic treatment was done, and some distinguishing characters are given.

A new pseudoscorpion genus, Tenebriochernes n. gen., with the type species T. concavus n. sp. is described from two caves in northern Colombia, where it inhabits the dark zone of caves. Two additional new species T. mohani n. sp. and T. pilosus n. sp., are described from conserved dry forest areas and buffer zones. Sexual dimorphism of the pedipalps is evident, particularly in the length of appendages and the width of the hand. The new genus shows affinities with the genus Neoallochernes Hoff, 1947. A taxonomic key, distribution map and ecological comments are given.
