The purpose of this analysis is to approximate the analytical dependences which allow to calculate the vibrational energy loss coefficient at any frequency when calculating the noise from the axle lathe and boring machines. A regression analysis was conducted using the method of least squares. The paper presents the results of the regression coefficient calculations. The dependences obtained allow us to determine the loss coefficient value not only at the geometric mean frequencies of the octave spectrum, but also at the natural frequencies of oscillations.

The subject of our article is a comparison of the level and development of the gender pay gap between selected EU countries (especially the V4 countries and other selected countries such as Austria and Slovenia) for the period 2009 - 2019. The analysis for the Czech Republic will be then supplemented by a comparison with the development of the gender pay gap in the economy and in ICT Professionals. To approximate the development of wages and GDP, we used the method of linear regression together with the method of least squares. All regression analysis calculations are performed at the 5% level of significance.

Partial acid hydrolysis of corn pericarp arabinoxylan (arabinose/xylose (A/X) ratio 0.35 and mean molecular weight of  53.6 × 103) was carried out at pH 1.0 for 1 ~ 6 h at 37 ~ 57 °C to remove arabinose substituents. The removal of arabinose could be described by regression analysis with the method of least squares. Following the regression profile, three kinds of desubstituted arabinoxylans having A/X ratios of 0.25, 0.12 and 0.03 with mean molecular weight values of 37.3 × 103, 15.6 × 103 and 7.2 × 103, respectively, could be prepared.  All corn pericarp arabinoxylans were in the amorphous state and the film formability of the native state was lost after the partial acid hydrolysis.

The work considers rods with a constant cross-section. The deformation law of each layer of the rod is adopted as an approximation by a polynomial of the second order. The method of determining the coefficients of the indicated polynomial and the limit deformations under compression and tension of the material of each layer is described with the presence of three traditional characteristics: modulus of elasticity, limit stresses at compression and tension. On the basis of deformation diagrams of the concrete grades B10, B30, B50 under tension and compression, these coefficients are determined by the method of least squares. The deformation diagrams of these concrete grades are compared on the basis of the approximations obtained by the limit values and the method of least squares, and it is found that these diagrams approximate quite well the real deformation diagrams at deformations close to the limit. The main problem in this work is to determine if the rod is able withstand the applied loads, before intensive cracking processes in concrete. So as a criterion of the conditional limit state this work adopts the maximum permissible deformation value under tension or compression corresponding to the points of transition to a falling branch on the deformation diagram level in one or more layers of the rod. The Kirchhoff-Lyav classical kinematic hypotheses are assumed to be valid for the rod deformation. The cases of statically determinable and statically indeterminable problems of bend of the rod are considered. It is shown that in the case of statically determinable loadings, the general solution of the problem comes to solving a system of three nonlinear algebraic equations which roots can be obtained with the necessary accuracy using the well-developed methods of computational mathematics. The general solution of the problem for statically indeterminable problems is reduced to obtaining a solution to a system of three nonlinear differential equations for three functions - deformation and curvatures. The Bubnov-Galerkin method is used to approximate the solution of this equation on the segment along the length of the rod, and specific examples of its application to the Maple system of symbolic calculations are considered.

This study aims to determine the effect of motivation, self awareness and communication on the work discipline of employees in the Regional Water Supply Company (PDAM) of Ponorogo Regency. The location of research in Pramuka Street Number 21, Nologaten, Ponorogo Regency. The population in this study was 102 employees. The sample in this study used 50 respondents. Data collection techniques using questionnaires, then tested with validity and reliability test, while the method of data analysis using multiple regression analysis with the help of SPSS and hypothesis testing partially or simultaneously. The results showed that; (1) Motivation partially influences the work discipline of employees in the Regional Water Supply Company (PDAM) of Ponorogo Regency with a regression coefficient of 0.317, t value of 2.903> t table of 2.012 and sig. of 0.006 <0.05, (2) Self Awareness partially influences the work discipline of employees in the Regional Water Supply Company (PDAM) of Ponorogo Regency with the results of the regression coefficient of 0.409, t value of 3.478> t table of 2.012 and sig. of 0.001 <0.05, (3) Communication partially influences the work discipline of employees in the Regional Water Supply Company (PDAM) of Ponorogo Regency with the results of a regression coefficient of 0.310, t value of 2.178> t table of 2.012 and sig. of 0.035 <0.05, (4) Motivation, self awareness and communication simultaneously affect employee work discipline in the Regional Water Supply Company (PDAM) of Ponorogo Regency with the calculated F value of 14.807> F table 2.81 and sig value. of 0,000 <0.05, (5) Self awareness is the most dominant variable affecting the work discipline of employees in the Regional Water Supply Company (PDAM) of Ponorogo Regency with the result of self awareness variable t value of 3.478 is greater than the value of t variable count motivation and communication variables. Furthermore, from the value of sig. the variable self awareness of 0.001 is smaller than the value of sig. motivation variable and communication variable.

AbstractIn this paper, we present a new model for ranking sports teams. Our model uses all scoring data from all games to produce a functional rating by the method of least squares. The functional rating can be interpreted as a team average point differential adjusted for strength of schedule. Using two team’s functional ratings we can predict the expected point differential at any time in the game. We looked at three variations of our model accounting for home-court advantage in different ways. We use the 2018–2019 NCAA Division 1 men’s college basketball season to test the models and determined that home-court advantage is statistically important but does not differ between teams.
