Access point placement on wireless networks is needed to optimize the strength of signal received by receiver from transmitter. The most influential parameter in determining the performance of access point position is signal strenght, because this value will be used to determine the coverage area of a access point. In this research, signal strengths of access point to receiver in the SMAN 1 Praya Tengah have been measured using inSSIDer application and results in the values of RSSI from transmitter to receiver. Data obtained from the filed measurements are used to analyse the influence of access point placement using simulate annealing. The research conducted is expected to generate an appropriate position and analysis for further optimization of access point position on wireless network.

Access point placement on Wi-Fi networks is needed to optimize the strength of signal received by receiver from transmitter. The most influential parameter in determining the performance of access point position is signal strength, because this value will be used to determine the coverage area of a transmitter. In this research, signal strengths of access point to receiver in the faculty room and the lobby floor 1 of building 2 at STMIK AMIKOM Yogyakarta have been measured using inSSIDer application and results in the values of RSSI from transmitter to receiver. Also measured are LOS propagation and NLOS propagation. Data obtained from the field measurements are used to model and analyse the influence of access point placement using simulated annealing. It is found that the RSSI signal strength received by the receiver does not only depend on the distance between the transmitter and receiver, but also shows large variations caused by the fading and shadowing at a location. The interference also causes a decrease in the signal (RSSI) received by the receiver. The research conducted is expected to generate an appropriate model and analysis for further optimization of access point position on Wi-Fi network using simulated annealing.

Information technology in the field of transmission that is currently developing, one of which is Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi devices provide user convenience in carrying out their activities. The quality of Wi-Fi network performance can be known by the reception of the signal received by the user. If the placement of an access point (AP) is done correctly, the network will be optimized. There are several propagation models in the room that can be used as a guideline in determining the placement of the AP, one slope model is a way to measure the average level of a building and only depends on the distance of the transmitter and receiver. This research was conducted in order to overcome the problem of Wi-Fi network area coverage at the Office of Communication and Information of the City of Palembang. This study conducted an experiment to change the layout of AP's placement, measure and calculate data in priority with the one slope model. The results of measurements and calculations carried out analysis and comparison in order to determine the results of the experiments conducted. The results of this study indicate that an attempt to change the AP layout with one slope model can overcome existing problems and get better Wi-Fi coverage area performance. In the calculation with the one slope model of the 2-trial access point placement results in a decrease and an increase in signal. The signal reduction occurred in experiment 1, whereas in experiment 2 (design 2) the signal increased by 1.46dBm.

Network is a technology used to connect computers and devices together. They allow people the ability to move easily and stay in touch while roaming the Internet in the coverage area. This increases efficiency by allowing data entry and access to the site. Comparing wireless networks wired networks in terms of cost, we find that wired networks are more expensive due to the cost of the network connections of electricity and running and add computers and change their positions to suit the network supply.   As a result, the use of widespread wireless networks. But there are security gaps in these networks may cause problems for users Security holes intended problem or weakness in the wireless network system may make it easier for hackers to penetrate and steal sensitive data and causing material losses to individuals and companies. Knowing security holes and contributes significantly to the wireless network is immune from attempts to infiltrate and penetration design Keywords—Protocol: Language is between computers connected via the network, in order to exchange information. If we define the language of the Protocol technology, we say that a formal description of the bodies messages and rules that must be followed on two computers to exchange those messages.

In the indoor wireless network technology, it is found that there are many disturbances such as interference with LOS (Line of Sight), improper access point position, and low signal strength. To overcome these disturbances, wireless network optimization can be done by conducting a survey or analysis of the coverage area and quality of service. This analysis can be done by using an application, however available applications are mostly desktop applications, which makes surveying the indoor wireless network less efficient. This study discusses the design and development of mobile applications that can be used to analyze Wi-Fi networks in an indoor environment which can provide information about the coverage area of ??a Wi-Fi network. The application development uses the PDR (Pedestrian Dead Reckoning) RSSI (Receive Signal Strength Indicator) classification method. Application testing was carried out using two different scenarios, where in the first scenario the Wi-Fi network source was placed in the living room area, while in the second scenario the Wi-Fi network source was placed in the bedroom area 2. The result of the test carried out is the application can provide information regarding the coverage area of the signal from the two positions of different Wi-Fi network sources in a heatmap format that can be easily understood and can be used to optimize Wi-Fi networks in the future. Currently the hotspot network used by students in STMIK Lombok uses Basic Service Set topology (BSS), therefore different Service Set Identifier (SSID) in each Access Point (AP) causes the mobility and reliability of the hotspot network to decrease. To overcome this problem can be applied hotspot system with Extended Service Set topology (ESS) that uses more than one AP and integrate all AP into a single wireless network using Internal Wireless Roaming so that client mobility is not disturbed when moving locations in the campus area without having to reconfigured. The signal coverage test of roaming network that has been done in STMIK Lombok using Wireless Distribution System (WDS) has not reached all campus area but can be overcome by adding AP to increase coverage area. Roaming that runs between APs can work but requires more time in the process of moving.

Managing wireless networks is challenging due to the requirement of ensuring good performance while coexisting with other networks. This paper analyses a production wireless network that is also used for research. The wireless network at Universidade Federal Fluminense uses home grown technology which was funded by RNP in the SCIFI work group, which is composed of a software controller and low cost access points compatible with OpenWRT. The analysis of the wireless network is performed modeling the network as a directed graph, in which nodes are the access points and edges represent vicinity. Algorithms for choosing the wireless channel in order to maximize performance by minimizing interference both by access points which are controlled or not by the system. The characteristics of associations of user devices to the wireless network are shown. The results of the analysis show that, after the installation of new channel, up to 75% of unmanaged networks in the vicinity of an access point switch their channel to adapt to the new wireless configuration.

Wireless networks are one of the best alternatives in building practical and flexible computer networks that have high mobility. Most of them use wireless networks to support existing cable networks, but on wireless networks, they still use cable media as a backbone of the access point, which supports communication users can access the internet and find information. The problem of using cables as backbone media can be a significant challenge in places that are difficult to reach by wires. Wireless networks provide convenience and convenience that is high enough to use. As long as they are in an area that is supported by a wireless network, users can access the internet at any time. To make the wireless network connected to the internet safe and easy to use, we can create a user authentication system based on Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) that can be used to authenticate and authorize. In general, each user can use existing wireless network services by verifying users based on Wifi Protected Access 2 Pre-Shared Key (WPA2-PSK). The purpose of this research is to develop a wireless network that uses Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) based user authentication to be able to connect to the wireless network to increase security and provide the use of existing wireless networks. The research method used in this study uses descriptive qualitative research methods, with data collection using literature study and observation techniques. After analysis and design, it can be concluded that user authentication is based on Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) in a safe and user-friendly manner that can determine the users who are allowed and not allowed to use wireless networks.
