To improve the performance properties of metal surfaces, not only composite, but also multilayer electrochemical coatings based on various metals and alloys can be used. According to economic calculations, it is found that it is more profitable to use the Sn-Ni alloy as a protective and decorative coating than the Сu-Ni-Cr multilayer coating

Production procedure, physical-chemical, and performance properties of ALUMOX silica-free binder used for the production of high-heat-resistant corundum shell molds by consumable patterns employed in the production of critical molds from superalloyed reactive metals and alloys are described. ALUMOX usage allows obtaining casts from reactive metals and alloys with surface roughness up to  m (basic casts— m), which, in its turn, increases fatigue parameters of the material (endurance, durability).

Electropolishing of metal surfaces is a benign alternative to mechanical treatment. Ionic liquids are considered as green electrolytes for the electropolishing of metals. They demonstrate a number of advantages in comparison with acid aqueous solutions and other methods of producing smooth or mirror-like surfaces that are required by diverse applications (medical instruments, special equipment, implants and prostheses, etc.). A wide window of electrochemical stability, recyclability, stability and tunability are just a few benefits provided by ionic liquids in the title application. An overview of the literature data on electropolishing of such metals as Ti, Ni, Pt, Cu, Al, U, Sn, Ag, Nb, stainless steel and other alloys in ionic liquids is presented.

The aim of this research is the fabrication of new types, environmentally safe, highly efficient and inexpensive fire-protective coatings by the use of high-dispersed composite powders (with high inhibitory properties) of local mineral raw materials, which in fire-protective coatings will play the role as binders as well as efficient inert flame retardants. Fire-protective coating was prepared only by mechanical mixing of binders and fillers, does not require addition of expensive phosphorus and halogen-containing flame retardants. On the one hand it simplifies technological process of production of materials and on the other hand decreases price cost of fire-protective coatings. Polyurethane resins were selected as binders, popularity of which is due to low price and simple technological process of production, high performance properties and low combustion capacity (in comparison with binders, used in series). High-dispersed composite powders of local mineral raw materials: zeolites, perlites, dolomites and clay shales are used as fillers, which are characterized by high inhibition properties and fire-extinguishing ability. Thus, produced coatings will be environmentally safe and much cheaper compared to imported analogues. Due to their performance properties and fire resistance, they will fully meet the requirements set by the normative documentation for building materials. The performance properties of the obtained fire–protective coatings were determined by laboratory standard methods. Thermogravimetric analysis method allows us to study the thermal stability of the material and determine the relative combustion capacity of the material. The effectiveness of the obtained coating was evaluated by the determine the relative combustion capacity - Oxygen Index (OI) and by of studying combustibility of materials. In the course of studying combustibility of materials in an initial stage was established combustible group by the method of "fire tube”- ГОСТ 1708-71.

The features of the technological process of obtaining foams based on epoxy resin are considered. The influence of the concentration of the components of the composition on the physical and mechanical properties and morphology of the resulting materials is studied. The results of the study of the physical and mechanical properties of the developed epoxy foams are presented. The possibility of obtaining foams with a wide range of adjustable performance properties is shown.

A variety of materials containing many different microstructures have been examined with the USS MVEM. Three topics have been selected to illustrate some of the more recent studies of diffraction phenomena and defect, grain and multi-phase structures of metals and minerals.(1) Critical Voltage Effects in Metals and Alloys - This many-beam dynamical diffraction phenomenon, in which some Bragg resonances vanish at certain accelerating voltages, Vc, depends sensitively on the spacing of diffracting planes, Debye temperature θD and structure factors. Vc values can be measured to ± 0.5% in the HVEM ana used to obtain improved extinction distances and θD values appropriate to electron diffraction, as well as to probe local bonding effects and composition variations in alloys.
