In recent years monetary narrowing impact more on Turkey and developing countries. Therefore, the importance of industrial policy and technology management in developing countries has widely increased. Production and design strategies have to be planned carefully. Thus, evidently monetary narrowing and undesired exchange rate fluctuation affected investment and the cash flow in numerous sectors such as finances, funding, industry, service industry, agribusiness, livestock, building trade, research, and development, etc. In this context, this situation broadly hit the research, prototyping, manufacturing and testing phase of the microstrip patch antennas. Today, patch antennas have widely utilized in telecommunication systems. Hence, this growth has increased interest in studies. As it is in every project, cost and efficiency are an essential part of the project design. Therefore, the ratio of cost is more important for Turkey and developing countries due to undesired exchange rate fluctuation, tax, financial obligations, and unexpected world events (e.g. COVID-19 pandemic). Commonly, the microstrip patch antenna comprises particular parts such as a radiating patch on top of the double-sided laminate and ground plane and feeding point located below the double-sided laminate. Therefore, microstrip patch antenna components play a significant role in patch antenna radiation characteristics. Moreover, specifications of the double-sided laminate, such as relative permittivity (or dielectric constant) and real physical thickness, are essential elements on the patch antennas radiation characteristics. Generally, high-quality dielectric substrates are developed and manufactured by western originated companies. Thus, the dielectric substrate with high-grade characteristics is hard to find for Turkey and developing countries. Importing is the only option and quite costly. Choosing a domestic dielectric substrate is inevitable, however insufficient for many cases. In this study, difficulties in microstrip patch antenna production and prototyping in Turkey are analyzed.

This article is about a single band microstrip patch antenna used for the 5G applications. And this antenna is suitable for the millimeter wave frequency. The patch antenna design consists of 2 E shaped slots and 1 H shaped slot. These slots are loaded on the radiating patch with the 50 ohms microstrip feed line. For the simulation purpose, Rogers’s RT5880 dielectric substrate with relative permittivity of 2.2 and loss tangent of 0.0009 is used. The design and simulation of the antenna is done using HFSS (High Frequency Structure Simulator) software. The results are simulated for the parameters Return loss, VSWR, 3D Radiation pattern. The proposed antenna has a return loss of -42.4383 at 59 GHz millimeter wave frequency.

The propagation of surface waves in the microstrip patch antenna proves to be proves to serious hindrance to radiation mechanism of the antenna. The periodic arrangement of shorting pins is embedded in the dielectric substrate at specific location to enhance the gain by around 4-5dB. The slotted perturbations have been done for achieving tri-band characteristics. The antenna is suitable for operation at three resonant frequency bands centered at 2.2421 GHz, 5.7632GHz and 7.7633GHz, which makes it suitable for WLAN applications.

In this paper, Microstrip patch antennas with rectangular and swastika shape of patch are designed and its performance parameters are compared with each other. Rectangular and Swastika shaped patch are considered in this paper with common rectangular ground plane. The antenna is simulated at 2.4 GHz using HFSS simulation software. This work mainly includes modification of antenna patch to improve the antenna parameters. The parameters of antenna such as Return loss, VSWR Bandwidth and radiation pattern are compared using simulation. The performance of Swastika shaped antenna was found to be better than rectangular shaped microstrip patch antenna with improved Return Loss, VSWR, Bandwidth and Radiation Pattern.

This is the first report on novel mushroom-type electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structures, consisting of fractal periodic elements, used for enhancing the gain of microstrip patch antennas. Using CST Microwave studio the performance of rectangular patch antenna has been examined on proposed fractal EBG substrates. It is found that fractal EBGs are more effective in suppressing surface wave thus resulting in higher gain. The gain of rectangular patch has been improved from 6.88 to 10.67 dBi. The proposed fractal EBG will open new avenues for the design and development of variety of high-frequency components and devices with enhanced performance.

In this paper, a new design for microstrip patch antenna strain sensors is proposed. The new antenna sensor works based on the meandered microstrip patch antennas. It is threefold more sensitive than previously proposed circular microstrip patch antenna strain sensors. Also, the overall physical dimension of the new antenna sensor is reduced by the factor of five. The current sensor is able to detect strain in all directions. In order to design the antenna sensor, two available commercial FEM software packages ANSYS™ and HFSS™ are used. Both experimental and FEM results corroborate the multidirectional feature of the new antenna sensor. Also, the effect of the hole size in the structure (for coaxial connection to the antenna) on the antenna performance has been studied. Based on the results obtained, the antenna sensor can be recommended for use in structural health monitoring for strain-based damage detection in aerospace structures.

In this communication the inclined slot loaded rectangular microstrip patch antenna fed by microstripline is presented for modern communication system. The antenna is housed in a volume of 5X3X0.16cm3. The low loss tangent and commercially available modified glass epoxy substrate material is used for the fabrication of the antenna. The design concept is presented. The proposed antenna gives a maximum bandwidth of 20.78% and overall bandwidth of 44.49% with operating range of 8.28 GHz to 12 GHz. The antenna shows broadside and linear radiation characteristics with a peak gain of 7.08 dB. The experimental and simulated results are compared. This antenna may find its applications in X-band range communication systems.
