An essential characteristic of the new product development process is to develop a new marketable product in the shortest possible time with the lowest reasonable costs. Therefore, the key factor of the process is efficiency. The paints and coatings industry development process contain numerous laboratory tests to determine the appropriateness of new formulation. It is proven that digital transformation can reduce the number of laboratory tests and consequently shorten the throughput time of the development process. This raised the question of whether the faster development process also reduces the process’ cost, or they even increase due to information and communication technology implementation. Therefore, the research’s purpose was to determine whether reducing the number of laboratory tests, based on the implementation of information and communication technology (ICT), affects reducing costs in the paints and coatings development process. The conventional process and the redesigned process of paints and coatings development were used as the basis of the research. The comparative analysis of the costs incurred during the development process was made. The analysis compares the types and amount of incurred costs. The article proves that digital transformation has a significant impact on up to 48% on reducing costs of the paints and coatings development process.

Several studies demonstrate that immigrants use computers and the Internet more than non-immigrants or earlier immigrants. What motivates immigrants to use information and communication technology (ICT)? What are the factors that influence immigrants' ICT behaviors? For this study, the author chose 20 peer-reviewed articles published between 2001 and 2015 to study immigrants' motivations for ICT adoption and use. The following article will discuss two motives for immigrants' ICT use, as well as identify seven factors influencing adoption, non-adoption, use, and non-use.


The entrepreneurial capacity of young farmers is an important indicator for realizing farmer succession. The research aimed to analysis descriptively entrepreneurial capacity and the factors influencing the entrepreneurial capacity of young farmers. The study was conducted in Cianjur and Majalengka Regencies, West Java, Indonesia. The study population was young farmers in Cianjur and Majalengka Regencies. A sample of 220 people consisted of 110 farmers in Cianjur and 110 farmers in Majalengka. Samples were selected using a cluster random sampling technique. Data were collected by interview using a questionnaire. Research variables consisted of individual characteristics (X1 ), access to information and communication technology (X2 ), external support (X3 ), the role of agricultural instructors (X4 ), and entrepreneurial capacity (Y). Data analysis techniques used were descriptive statistical techniques and multiple regression. The results of the study concluded that youth entrepreneurship capacity mostly belonged medium classification. Majority of young farmers had junior and senior high school education, the average length time of business was 5.8 years, majority of farmers had never attended training, had high and easy access to information and communication technology, perceptions and motivations was mostly classified as medium. The entrepreneurial capacity of young farmers was influenced by education, motivation, access to information and communication technology, external factors and the role of agricultural extension agents.
