Solving problems associated with the physical transformations of the material that accompanies the stages of obtaining bimetallic castings of high accuracy is relevant and in demand in engineering. A common method for producing such products is lost wax casting. The problematic stages are the pressing of the waxy layer of the removed model and the formation of the surface from plastic materials on a steel frame. The elastic response arising from thermophysical processes of shaping determines the need to eliminate stress in materials.

The production of bimetallic parts makes it possible to realize in them a set of operational and mechanical characteristics inherent in iron-carbon and non-ferrous alloys. The implementation of the process of the developed technology for the formation of bimetallic casting with a rigid steel frame and a surface made of non-ferrous alloys, which have greater plasticity and electrical conductivity than the frame material, is possible through the use of a modernized investment casting method. The stage of manufacturing the surface of the investment casting model, which is formed by pressing the wax powder into the gap between the mold and the steel frame, is subject to change, which makes it possible to increase the dimensional and geometric accuracy of casting by eliminating thermophysical defects. The problem in implementing this approach is the elastic response of the material. This work solves the problem of determining the technological parameters of the formation of the waxy surface of the melted model of a bimetallic casting.

The most common method of forming semi-control polyhedra consists in cutting off angles and ribs of regular polyhedra by planes. The aim of the work - to consider the automated formation of a number of surfaces of semi-regular Archimedean polyhedra based on the dodecahedron. These include the truncated dodecahedron, the icosododecahedron, the romboicosododecahedron and the truncated icosododecahedron. The formation of surfaces is carried out by the kinematic method in AutoCAD using programs compiled in the AutoLISP language. Methods. The methodology for the formation of these polyhedra provides for truncation of the angles and edges of the dodecahedron. This requires the calculation of a number of geometric parameters of these polyhedra and dodecahedron, such as the value of the truncation of the dodecahedron edges, the size of the edges of truncated polyhedra, the centers of faces, dihedral angles, etc. In order to generate these surfaces, a frame is constructed because the frame lines are used as guides to form surfaces in a kinematic way. The electronic model of each polyhedron is constructed as a set of compartments of surfaces of all its faces, and each compartment is assigned to a certain layer of the drawing. The frame and electronic model of the polyhedra under study are formed by means of user programs composed in the functional language AutoLISP. The process of forming surfaces of selected polyhedra in the AutoCAD environment is provided by special programs that are also compiled in the AutoLISP language. Results. Software was created to demonstrate the process of formation of a number of Archimedes polyhedra on the monitor screen.

A study is made of the feasibility and usefulness of a seismic design method for multistorey steel-frame buildings. The method employs a time-series elastic response analysis of the structure for a ground motion compatible with a design response spectrum. The correlation between the elastic and elasto-plastic response is investigated and it is suggested that the design forces in the members of an elasto-plastic structure can be obtained by applying appropriate reduction factors to the forces obtained in an elastic analysis.A design example is presented in which a multistorey steel-frame building with a rather large setback is designed for seismic forces by using the results of an elastic dynamic analysis for a selected ground motion and reducing the forces so obtained by applying one uniform force reduction factor to all girder moments and another, a smaller one, to all column moments and axial loads.

The high voltage electron microscope has many advantageous features in comparison with the ordinary electron microscope. They are a higher penetrating efficiency of the electron, low chromatic aberration, high accuracy of the selected area diffraction and so on. Thus, the high voltage electron microscope becomes an indispensable instrument for the metallurgical, polymer and biological specimen studies. The application of the instrument involves today not only basic research but routine survey in the various fields. Particularly for the latter purpose, the performance, maintenance and reliability of the microscope should be same as those of commercial ones. The authors completed a 500 kV electron microscope in 1964 and a 1,000 kV one in 1966 taking these points into consideration. The construction of our 1,000 kV electron microscope is described below.

Abstract. Positive affectivity (PA) and negative affectivity (NA) are basic traits that affect work-related perceptions and behaviors and should be considered in any assessment of these variables. A quite common method to assess healthy or unhealthy types of work-related perceptions and behaviors is the questionnaire on Work-Related Coping Behavior and Experience Patterns (WCEP). However, the association of PA and NA with WCEP remained unclear. In a sample of teachers, physiotherapists, and teacher students ( N = 745; Mage = 35.07, SD = 12.49; 78% females), we aimed to identify the relevance of these basic traits. After controlling for age, gender, and type of occupation, we found main effects of PA and NA, with the specific combination of PA and NA being decisive for predicting the assignment to a WCEP type. The results highlight the need to include PA and NA in future assessments with the WCEP questionnaire.
