Purpose – sustainability in industrial organizations is becoming one of the predominant concepts in the context of modern industrialization due to global warming, economic significance, and social awareness. These have prompted a huge concern toward sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) to be adopted and promoted as an innovative business model. Supplier evaluation and selection play a significant role in SSCM for taking appropriate procurement decisions. Research methodology – a hybrid MADM model based on Best Worst Method (BWM) and Combined Comprise Solution (CoCoSo) method. Findings – a case study in the steel industry is presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. The results show the potentiality of the proposed model in resolving complex sustainability issues in the SCM environment. Research limitations – other weighting techniques like the analytic network process (ANP) and decision making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) approaches can also be combined and performances can be compared. Practical implications – the proposed model can be used by the organizations to select the most appropriate suppliers who contribute to the movement of the SC towards sustainability. Originality/Value – a multi-criteria evaluation model has been proposed for solving a sustainable supplier selection problem while considering economic, environmental and social criteria simultaneously by integrating BWM-COCOSO methods

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to propose a comprehensive methodology and a problem-specific model for the configuration of the optimal strategic supplier portfolio in terms of traditional, performance-related objectives and sustainability targets. Design/methodology/approach – To bridge the research gap, i.e., to align strategic supplier portfolio selection with corporate sustainability targets, a hybrid model of the analytic network process (ANP) and goal programming (GP) is developed. To validate the model, a case example is presented and managerial feedback is collected. Findings – By enabling the integration of sustainability targets into strategic supplier portfolio configuration, the hybrid ANP-GP model contributes to research in the area of sustainable supply chain management. Results indicate that simplifying the model by omitting one or more details may lead to unfortunate actions. Research limitations/implications – The model has been applied using a case example in the automotive industry. To strengthen the findings, it should be examined under other terms as well. Practical implications – Integrating economic, environmental, and social targets into strategic supplier portfolio configuration reduces supply risks and promotes the achievement of the sustainability goals of the purchasing company. Social implications – Strategic supplier selection counts among the decisions that have an impact on the environment and society for several years. Configuring economically rational, environmentally friendly, and socially responsible supplier bases supports worldwide efforts towards sustainable development. Originality/value – Although sustainable supplier selection has gained importance in recent years, this is the first time that a comprehensive model for the determination of the optimal strategic supplier portfolio in terms of performance-related objectives and sustainability targets has been proposed.

This article will tell you how to combine “entropy” in the model to reduce the bias of multi-criteria evaluation. Subjective weights are usually determined by decision makers based on their professional background, experience and knowledge, and other factors. The objective weight is obtained by constructing an evaluation matrix of the information based on the actual information of the evaluation criteria of the scheme, and obtained through multi-step calculations. Different decision-making methods are based on different weight types. Considering only one of the two weights often leads to biased results. In addition, in order to establish an effective supply chain, buyers must find suitable merchants among suppliers that provide quality products and/or services. Based on the above factors, it is difficult to choose a suitable alternative. The main contribution of this paper is to combine analytic network process (ANP), entropy weight and the technique for order preference by similarity to an ideal solution (TOPSIS) to construct a suitable multi-criteria decision (MCDM) model. By means of ANP-entropy weights to extend the TOPSIS method, ANP-entropy weights are used to replace subjective weights. A supplier selection decision-making model based on ANP-entropy TOPSIS is proposed. At last, the sensitivity analysis shows that, taking the selection of building materials suppliers as an example, the hybrid ANP-entropy TOPSIS method can effectively select suitable suppliers.

Selection of the working strategy is a critical problem and it plays a significant role in the success of organization development. On the other hand, selecting the most appropriate working strategy among a pool of alternatives is a multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) problem. Since every working strategy has its benefits and costs and may bring a company different opportunities and risks, which kind of working strategy is the most appropriate for a company to accomplish is a sophisticated and complex decision with a high degree of uncertainty. Therefore, the current paper proposed an integrated evaluation model based on the analytic network process (ANP) and the complex proportional assessment (COPRAS), to help the decision makers or managers with the selection of proper working strategy in a fuzzy environment where the fuzziness and uncertainties are handled with linguistic terms parameterized by triangular fuzzy numbers (TFNs). In this paper fuzzy ANP (FANP) is utilized to take into account interdependence and dependencies and determine the importance weights of benefit, opportunities, cost and risk (BOCR) factors, and fuzzy COPRAS is applied to rank the alternatives. To show the potential application of the proposed model, a real world application is conducted to illustrate the use of the proposed model for the working strategy selection problem. The results show the capability and effectiveness of the proposed model.

With a great emphasis on both social and environmental responsibilities, sustainable supply chain management has gradually been adopted and promoted as an innovative business model. In sustainable supply chain practice, the choice of sustainable suppliers relates to the long-term development of a company. While the environmental performance of suppliers has been commonly considered, the social dimension has not yet received enough attention. This paper first proposes a novel criteria system for evaluating sustainable suppliers from three aspects and six dimensions, and then introduces an integrated evaluation model with a novel hybrid information aggregation. To verify the applicability and effectiveness of the proposed method, a real case of a large supermarket is introduced and analyzed. The research results show that (1) the indicator system based on Triple Bottom Line theory can serve as a framework of sustainable supplier selection for manufacturing and circulation enterprises; (2) the introduction of hybrid information aggregation can effectively handle the uncertainties of indicator scores under the realistic fuzzy environment and objectively reflect the intentions of the scorers; and (3) in comparison with the TOPSIS algorithm, the priority order finally obtained is consistent, but the proposed model shows more robustness in the sensitivity test.

Supplier selection is a good strategy for firms that can reduce operating costs and improve competitiveness for computer, communication and consumer electronics (3C) industry. The major aim of this research is to build a systematic approach for establishing a supplier selection model, and then prioritize improvement criteria in order to best supply chain management. The study proposed a hybrid approach by using the interpretive structural modeling (ISM) method to deal with the interrelationship among criteria, and the analytic network process (ANP) method is employed to recognize the criteria of supplier selection and evaluate with respect to environmental competency for the case of Taiwan's 3C industry. The study shows that the proposed model could be an effective and efficient decision-making tool that can be easily extended to other contexts. Especially, it has provided decision-makers and researchers with better understanding of the differences in supplier selection activity needs and specific management interventions by examining these criteria.

This study presents an evaluation framework to measure the various operations to acquire the optimal core operation (CO) when financier provides the supply chain finance (SCF) services in smartphone industry supply chain (SC). The proposed model applies the modify Delphi method and analytic network process (ANP). First, the evaluation model establishes a network with three criteria, eleven sub-criteria and four operations. Next, the ANP is utilized to the framework to obtain the relative weights of the criteria. Finally, the application of the multi-criteria decision making process will list the optimal CO on the basis of their rankings in the framework.The proposed model and the relevant research results can provide academic support to the decision-makers on finance sector with a valuable objective guide for assessing the CO of smartphone industry SC programs to determine the optimal solution in their actual administration of SCF service practices.

The sustainable supplier selection would be the vital part in the management of a sustainable supply chain. In this study, a hybrid multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) model is applied to select optimal supplier. The fuzzy Delphi method, which can lead to better criteria selection, is used to modify criteria. Considering the interdependence among the selection criteria, analytic network process (ANP) is then used to obtain their weights. To avoid calculation and additional pairwise comparisons of ANP, a technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) is used to rank the alternatives. The use of a combination of the fuzzy Delphi method, ANP, and TOPSIS, proposing an MCDM model for supplier selection, and applying these to a real case are the unique features of this study.

Corrugated box printing machines are precision equipment produced by markedly few manufacturers. They involve high investment cost and risk. Having a corrugated box precision printing machine (CBPPM) supplier with a good reputation enables a corrugated box manufacturer to maintain its competitive advantage. Accordingly, establishing an effective CBPPM supplier selection model is crucial for corrugated box manufacturers. This study established a two-stage CBPPM supplier selection model. The first stage involved the use of a modified Delphi method to construct a supplier selection hierarchy with five criteria and 14 subcriteria. In the second stage, an analytic network process was employed to calculate the weights of criteria and subcriteria and to determine the optimal supplier. According to the results, the five criteria in the model, in descending order of importance, are quality, commitment, cost, service attitude, and reputation. This model can provide insights for corrugated box manufacturers formulating their CBPPM supplier selection strategy.

Sudden environmental pollution accidents (SEPAs) in small towns are characterized by high uncertainty, complex evolution, and fast spread speed, and they cause serious harm to a wide geographic range. Thus, SEPAs greatly challenge the emergency management systems of enterprises and governments. Therefore, improving the emergency capacity of small towns (ECST) to withstand SEPAs deserves more attention. In this study, the evolution mechanism of SEPAs is systematically analyzed, revealing the interactions among various situational elements in the SEPA occurrence process. Then, an evaluation index system of the ECST response to SEPAs is constructed based on four dimensions: monitoring and early warning capacity, preparedness and mitigation capacity, response, and recovery capacity. The system includes 68 indicators and covers the key stages of the SEPA life cycle. Finally, an evaluation model of the ECST to SEPAs is proposed based on the analytic network process method, and the small town of Jiangyin City is selected as a case study for empirical evaluation. The proposed evaluation model considers the interactions and interdependent feedback between indexes, effectively improving the accuracy and scientific nature of the evaluation results. Thus, this model provides a solid decision-making reference for governments and a quantitative theoretical basis for the formulation of measures targeted at SEPAs.
