This paper presents an experimental investigation of the machining characteristics of sintered NdFeB permanent magnet using a combination process of electro-discharge machining (EDM) with ultrasonic machining (USM). Concentration of abrasive in the dielectric fluid is changed to explore its effect on the material removal rate (MRR). MRR of EDM /USM, conventional EDM are compared, machined surface characteristics are also compared between them. It is concluded that the combination EDM/USM process can increase the MRR and decrease the thickness of the recast layer. In the combination process, an appropriate abrasive concentration can improve its machining efficiency.

t was theoretically and experimentally proved that High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) Maglev had huge potential employment in rail transportation and high speed launch system. This had attracted great research interests in practical engineering. The optimization design was one of the most important works in the application of the HTS Maglev. As the NdFeB permanent magnet and HTS materials prices increased constantly, the design optimization of the permanent guideway (PMG) of HTS maglev became one of the indispensable works to decrease the cost of the application. This paper first reviewed four types of PMGs used by the HTS Maglev, then disucssed their structures and magnetic fields. Finally, the optimization methods of these four PMGs were compared. It was suggested that with better optimization methods, the levitation performance within a limit cost got better. That would be helpful to the future numerical optimization of the PMG of the HTS maglev.

The Ni-P-W/nano-Al2O3composite coatings were deposited on the surface of sintered NdFeB permanent magnet by electroless plating method. The morphology and the phases of Ni-P-W/nano-Al2O3composite coatings were investigated using scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction respectively. The hardness and the corrosion resistance of the composite coatings were also tested. The results indicated that the composite coatings morphology appears closely nodules morphology, and the microhardness increases with increasing incorporation of Al2O3ratio. Compared with NdFeB magnet and Ni-P-W alloy coatings, the corrosion resistance of the composite coatings was superior to that of the NdFeB magnet and the alloy coating obviously.

In this case we investigate the NdFeB permanent magnet by the atomic force microscopy. Obtained phase diagrams in the center and on the edge of the sample. We investigate the uniformity of the magnetic structure.

Simple permanent magnet synchronous motor has the structure of reliable operation, small size, light weight, high efficiency, flexible shape and size and other characteristics. The pole surface of the rotor core is composed of several small magnet block arrays, spacing, width, height, and the magnet block arrays of magnetic blocks relationship between modulations. This paper introduces a development of NdFeB permanent magnet generator. Rotor structure of high-strength permanent magnet synchronous generator by the central shaft, attached to the core and its outer surface two pairs of circular arc-shaped magnets. The design of structures of the key components is demonstrated and the experimental results show the good performance of the generator.
