The data on Estonian Myriapoda are scattered in various publications and there has been no overview of the fauna up to the present. A critical summary of the previous information on Estonian Myriapoda is given, supplemented by new records and distribution maps. Altogether, 5784 specimens from 276 collecting sites were studied. To the hitherto recorded 14 centipede species are addedLithobiusmelanops,L.microps,Geophiluscarpophagus,G.flavus,StrigamiatranssilvanicaandStenotaenialinearis, a probably introduced species. Of the 27 published Estonian millipede species, the data on two species proved erroneous, and two new species were recorded (CraspedosomaraulinsiiandCylindroiulusbritannicus). Two previously recorded millipede species –BrachyiuluspusillusandMastigophorophyllonsaxonicum– were not found in the recent samples, the latter may have become more rare or extinct. Pauropoda and Symphyla lack previous reliable records. Combined with published data, the number of myriapod species known from Estonia is now set at 52. Some changes in species distribution and frequencies were detected comparing the published data with new records. Some data about habitat preferences of the more common species are also given. The majority of species have a western Palaearctic distribution, while six species are at the northern limit of their ranges.

A survey is given of the distribution of the water mite species of the genus Sperchon Kramer (Acari: Hydrachnidia: Sperchontidae) in Turkey, based on all published data and numerous new records. Sperchon (Hispidosperchon) oezkani and S. (Sperchon) ayyildizi are described as new species; Sperchon fundamentalis Bader & Sepasgozarian, 1980 is synonymized with S. glandulosus Koenike, 1886; the first record from Turkey is given for Sperchon (Hispidosperchon) tarnogradskii Sokolow, 1927.

Based on museum and private collections, two new species of the subfamily Acronictinae are described from China and Russia, Transbaikalia and Primorye Territory: Acronicta (Triaena) psichinensis sp. n. and Acronicta (Viminia) dahurica sp. n. The adults and male and female genitalia of the new species are illustrated and compared to related species. Distribution maps for the new species are presented.

Two new species of the genus Pseudidonauton Hering (Lepidoptera, Limacodidae), P. sinensissp. nov. and P. puerasp. nov., are described from China. The new species are illustrated with images of the adults and male genitalia, and compared with similar species. Distribution maps of these species and a key to all known species of the genus are provided.

Twenty-six species of Sporobolus from Australia (including two closely related, weedy species that may occur in the future) are revised taxonomically in this paper. Two new species, S. latzii and S. sessilis, are recognised and described. The DELTA system has been used to generate descriptions of all taxa and a complete list of all characters used is given. Brief discussion is given on classification, ecology, economic value and weed potential, anatomy, rare or threatened status of species, distribution, seed proteins, RAPD analysis and diseases. A key is provided to all species and infra-specific taxa. Illustrations, photographs or reference to illustrations are included as well as distribution maps of all Australian entities. Lists containing information on approximately 3200 exsiccatae examined have been incorporated into an accessory publication*.

Two new species of Campoletis Förster (Ichneumonidae: Campopleginae) are described: Campoletis katalinarum sp. nov. from Georgia and Turkey, and Campoletis margaritae sp. nov. from Romania and Armenia. Affixes to the identification key of the most recent revision of the genus are given. Additionally, contributing to the knowledge on biogeographical distribution of several species of the genus, 27 new records of 14 Campoletis species are reported, representing first records for 12 countries in the Palaearctic region.

Abstract In this paper, two new Miridae species are described from Turkey, Adelphophylus oenderi sp. nov. from Silifke (Mersin province) and Phytocoris (Exophytocoris) carapezzai sp. nov. from Merkez (Karaman province). Habitus of males and females and male genitalia of both species and female genitalia of A. oenderi sp. nov. are illustrated. Additionally, 10 Heteroptera species are recorded from Turkey for the first time: Campylomma miyamotoi Yasunaga, 2001, Compsidolon (Compsidolon) elegantulum Reuter, 1899, Hallodapus concolor (Reuter, 1890), Maurodactylus kukuensis V. G. Putshkov, 1978, Pinalitus viscicola (Puton, 1888), Platycranus alkestis Linnavuori, 1999, Zanchius breviceps (Wagner, 1951), Montandoniola moraguesi (Puton, 1896), Temnostethus (Temnostethus) gracilis Horváth, 1907, and Plinthisus (Isioscytus) minutissimus Fieber, 1864. Campylomma miyamotoi Yasunaga, 2001, an Eastern Palaearctic species bound to the ornamental Albizia julibrissin, is a new potentially alien species in the Western Palaearctic. The species status of Compsidolon (Compsidolon) parietariae V. G. Putshkov, 1984 is discussed.

An annotated checklist of the endemic Apiaceae of Uzbekistan includes synonyms, references, information about geographic range, habitats and conservation status for each species. Distribution maps are provided. The number of endemic Apiaceae species in Uzbekistan was reduced from 38 to 18 as a result of new records in neighboring countries or because of their placement into synonymy. The new combination Galagania involucrata is published. Three new synonyms are established: Galagania neglecta under G. involucrata, Vvedenskya pinnatifolia under Conioselinum tataricum, and Elaeosticta seravschanica under E. paniculata. Five new species are recorded from the neighboring countries: Elaeosticta paniculata (Tajikistan), E. vvedenskyi (Kazakhstan), Eryngium octophyllum (Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan), Ferula dshizakensis (Tajikistan) and Komarovia anisosperma (Tajikistan).

Calamagrostis (syn. Deyeuxia), as traditionally circumscribed, is one of the most speciose genera from páramo grasslands of northwest South America and southern Central America and often dominates these high-elevation habitats. However, it remains difficult for researchers to accurately identify the species due to a lack of floristic treatments for most of the countries containing páramo, with the distribution of many species still very poorly known. In an effort to ameliorate this, we present an updated list and identification keys in English and Spanish (as electronic appendix) to the species of Calamagrostis s.l. known or likely to occur in the páramos of Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Costa Rica and Panama. Fifty-four species are accepted, constituting 47 species currently circumscribed in Calamagrostis and seven species recently transferred to Deschampsia. Included within this are two new species, Calamagrostiscrispifolius and Deschampsiasantamartensis, which are described and illustrated. Both new species are found in páramos of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta (departamento Magdalena), on the northernmost tip of Colombia, with C.crispifolius also found in the Serrania de Perija on the border with Venezuela. Calamagrostiscrispifolius differs from all other species of Calamagrostis s.l. by the presence of strongly curled, readily deciduous leaf blades, amongst numerous other characteristics including open inflorescences with generally patent branches, small spikelets, (3.5–)4–5.5 mm long, with sessile florets and a rachilla prolongation reaching from 2/3 to almost the apex of the lemma, with short hairs (< 1 mm long). Deschampsiasantamartensis is similar to Deschampsiahackelii (=Calamagrostishackelii) from austral South America but differs by its broad, rigid and erect, strongly conduplicate blades, 1.5–2.5 mm wide when folded, ligules of innovations 0.5–1 mm long, truncate or obtuse, ligules of upper flowering culms 3–4 mm long, broadly shouldered with an attenuate central point, ellipsoid spike-like panicle, 3–5.5 long × 1.5–2.5 cm wide, lemma surfaces moderately to lightly scabrous between the veins, lemma apex acute to muticous, entire, rachilla extension often absent and inside of the floret often with hyaline shiny sinuous trichomes to 1 mm long, emerging from the base of the ovary. We also present a broader circumscription of the common species Deschampsiapodophora (=Calamagrostispodophora), with the new variety D.podophoravar.mutica described and illustrated. Deschampsiapodophoravar.mutica principally differs from var. podophora by florets lacking awns and larger habit i.e. multiple taller culms with longer and wider leaf blades forming tussocks, with inflorescences often held within sheaths. Nomenclatural changes are presented, with Deyeuxiamacrostachya newly synonymised under C.macrophylla and C.pittieri, C.pubescens and Deyeuxiapubescens newly synonimised under C.planifolia. Lectotypes are designated for Agrostisantoniana, Calamagrostispisinna, Deyeuxiamacrostachya and Deyeuxiasodiroana. We also document and give notes on five new records of Calamagrostis for Colombia: C.carchiensis, C.guamanensis, C.heterophylla, C.pisinna and C.rigida.

AbstractA survey of driftwood and mangrove wood in South Australia revealed a high diversity of marine fungi. Across eight sites there were 43 species of marine fungi, of which 42 are new records for South Australia, 11 new records for Australia and 12 taxa currently of uncertain status likely to be new species. Sites had distinctive species compositions with the largest difference attributable to substrate type (beach driftwood vs. mangrove wood). However, even between mangrove sites, species assemblages were distinctly different with only the more common species occurring at all mangrove sites. More intensive surveys across a broader range of habitats and geographic locations should reveal significantly more species.
