Asthma is a chronic disease of the airways in the lungs. The differentiation between asthma, COPD and bronchiectasis in the early stage of disease is very important for the adoption of appropriate therapeutic measures. In this research, a case-based-reasoning (CBR) model is proposed to assist a physician to therapy. First of all, features and symptoms are determined and patients' data is gathered with a questionnaire, then CBR algorithm is run on the data which leads to the asthma diagnosis. The system was tested on 325 asthmatic and non-asthmatic adult cases and the accuracy was eighty percent. The consequences were promising. This study was performed in order to determine risk factors for asthma in a specific society and the results of research showed that the most important variables of asthma disease are symptoms hyper-responsive, frequency of cough and cough.

Background: Cardiovascular diseases are increasing at an alarming rate with very high rate of mortality. Coronary artery disease is one of the type of cardiovascular disease, which is not easily diagnosed in its early stage. Prevention of Coronary Artery Disease is possible only if it is diagnosed, at early stage and proper medication is done. Objective: An effective diagnosis model is important not only for the early diagnosis but also to check the severity of the disease. Method: In this paper, a hybrid approach is followed, with the integration of deep learning (multi-layer perceptron) with Case based reasoning to design analytical framework. This paper suggests two phases of the study, one in which the patient is diagnosed for Coronary artery disease and in second phase, if the patient is suffering from the disease then employing Case based reasoning to diagnose the severity of the disease. In the first phase, multilayer perceptron is implemented on reduced dataset and with time-based learning for stochastic gradient descent respectively. Results: The classification accuracy is increase by 4.18 % with reduced data set using deep neural network with time based learning. In second phase, if the patient is diagnosed as positive for Coronary artery disease, then it triggers the Case based reasoning system to retrieve from the case base, the most similar case to predict the severity for that patient. The CBR model achieved 97.3% accuracy. Conclusion: The model can be very useful for medical practitioners as a supporting decision system and thus can save the patients from unnecessary medical expenses on costly tests and can improve the quality and effectiveness of medical treatment.

AbstractAquaculture as an industry is quickly expanding. As a result, new aquaculture sites are being established at more exposed locations previously deemed unfit because they are more difficult and resource demanding to safely operate than are traditional sites. To help the industry deal with these challenges, we have developed a decision support system to support decision makers in establishing better plans and make decisions that facilitate operating these sites in an optimal manner. We propose a case-based reasoning system called aquaculture case-based reasoning (AQCBR), which is able to predict the success of an aquaculture operation at a specific site, based on previously applied and recorded cases. In particular, AQCBR is trained to learn a similarity function between recorded operational situations/cases and use the most similar case to provide explanation-by-example information for its predictions. The novelty of AQCBR is that it uses extended Siamese neural networks to learn the similarity between cases. Our extensive experimental evaluation shows that extended Siamese neural networks outperform state-of-the-art methods for similarity learning in this task, demonstrating the effectiveness and the feasibility of our approach.

Culinary is one of the favorite businesses today. The number of considerations to choose a restaurant or place to visit becomes one of the factors that is difficult to determine the restaurant or place to eat. To get the desired place to eat advice, one needs a recommendation system. Decisions made by the recommendation system can be used as a reference to determine the choice of restaurants. One method that can be used to build a recommendation system is Case Based Reasoning. The Case Based Reasoning (CBR) method mimics human ability to solve a problem or cases. The retrieval process is the most important stage, because at this stage the search for a solution for a new case is carried out. The study used the K-Nearest Neighbor method to find closeness between new cases and case bases. With the selection of features used as domains in the system, the results of recommendations presented can be more suggestive and accurate. The system successfully provides complex recommendations based on the type and type of food entered by the user. Based on blackbox testing, the system has features that can be used and function properly according to the purpose of creating the system.
