The widespread deployment of inexpensive sensors, processors, embedded systems, etc., as well as the latest advances in data storage, analytics, cloud, etc. triggered significant changes in industrial engineering. This chapter aims to examine the adoption of the internet of things (IoT) in industry and the challenges for higher education. In this respect, the authors tried to explain the relationship between major concepts: IoT and industrial internet of things (IIoT). At the same time, they focused on the presentation of some IIoT enablers that could be viewed as building blocks for IIoT higher education curricula. In order to ensure the required qualifications and to develop the necessary skills for current employees, management staff, and students, academic engineering programs must undergo important changes. Some of these changes are also discussed in this chapter. Nevertheless, since there are so many uncertainties that lie between today and the future, higher education programs need to keep up with the latest technological tendencies.

Abstract Orienteering has gradually changed from a professional sport to a civilian sport. Especially in recent years, orienteering has been widely popularized. Many colleges and universities in China have also set up this course. With the improvement of people’s living conditions, orienteering has really become a leisure sport in modern people’s life. The reduced difficulty of sports enables more people to participate, but it also exposes a series of problems. As the existing positioning technology is relatively backward, the progress in personnel tracking, emergency services, and other aspects is slow. To solve these problems, a new intelligent orienteering application system is developed based on the Internet of things. ZigBee network architecture is adopted in the system. ZigBee is the mainstream scheme in the current wireless sensor network technology, which has many advantages such as convenient carrying, low power consumption, and signal stability. Due to the complex communication environment in mobile signal, the collected information is processed by signal amplification and signal anti-interference technology. By adding anti-interference devices, video isolators and other devices, the signal is guaranteed to the maximum extent. In order to verify the actual effect of this system, through a number of experimental studies including the relationship between error and traffic radius and the relationship between coverage and the number of anchor nodes, the data shows that the scheme studied in this paper has a greater improvement in comprehensive performance than the traditional scheme, significantly improving the accuracy and coverage. Especially the coverage is close to 100% in the simulation experiment. This research has achieved good results and can be widely used in orienteering training and competition.

We studied the mechanism of the influence of the Internet of Things (IOT) product characteristics on consumer purchase intention. The results of a survey of 360 consumers showed that 6 dimensions of IOT product characteristics influence purchase intention; namely connectivity, interactivity, telepresence, intelligence, convenience, and security. We found that customer experience was the key mediating variable in the relationship between IOT product characteristics and purchase intention. Connectivity, interactivity, telepresence, intelligence, convenience, and security all positively influenced purchase intention via functional experience. Furthermore, connectivity, telepresence, convenience, and security positively influenced purchase intention via emotional experience. Our findings in the study provide some points of reference for improvement of IOT product design.

<p class="0abstract">One of the unexpected intelligence tactics known in World War II was to conceal the data in images that were reduced to the size of a point that was used in every text and transported in front of the enemy's eyes. In the new age, and after the expansion of Internet science and the use of the Internet worldwide, we will establish a security feature of the IOT service that will work more reliably and more effectively to deal with the Internet of Things and ensure the work of the services that the customer interacts with. A secret-key stenographic scheme that embeds four gray-scale secret size (128*128) pixel images into a size (512*512) pixel cover image in this work. Wavelet transform is the method used in this project to analyze the cover into its frequency components. In this work, combinations of steganography and cryptography were made to increase the level of safety and make the device more difficult for attackers to beat. The resulting stego-image that will be transmitted did not raise any suspicion by both objective and subjective evaluation, so the primary objective of Steganography is achieved. The proposed system was designed by using (MATLAB R2018b) and running on a Pentium-4 computer. The Internet of Things works with the encryption system for data in a synchronized manner with the technological development, and in order to maintain the stability of any Internet of things service, whether it is information signal services, visual or audio data, a remote control system, or data storage in the Internet cloud, we must focus on data preservation from internet pirates and internet system hackers. With the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the past two decades have seen a proliferation of Assistive Technology (AT) and its enabling impact on the lives of people with disabilities in the areas of accessing information, communication, and daily living activities. Due to recent emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT), the fields of rehabilitation, healthcare, and education are challenged to incorporate the IoT applications into current AT services. While IoT applications continue to be developed and integrated into AT, they are still at a primitive stage where clear guidelines are yet to be developed and benefits are yet to be substantiated to ensure the quality of lives of people with disabilities. This chapter provides an overview of the IoT and AT integrated applications based on the building blocks of the IoT, along with recent trends and issues relevant to accessing technology for people with disabilities.

The main objective of the chapter is to discuss the relationship between internet of things and knowledge management; knowledge management and open innovation; open innovation and SMEs sustainability. The relationship between the constructs developed and discuss on the behalf of past studies. The present chapter found that Internet of Things is playing an important role in knowledge generation and management, further, knowledge management is very important for open innovation environment in SMEs. Moreover, the open innovation sustains the SMEs performance. In respect of implications, the owner / managers of SMEs should consider the Internet of Things, knowledge management, and open innovation capabilities during the decision making for SME sustainability. Moreover, this is a process framework which brings the effect of one variable to other variables. However, the future studies should empirically validate the proposed research framework.
