The need to filter online information in order to protect users from possible harmful content can be considered as one of the most compelling social issues derived from the transformation of the Web into a public information space. Despite that Web rating and filtering systems have been developed and made publicly available quite early, no effective approach has been established so far, due to the inadequacy of the proposed solutions. Web filtering is then a challenging research area, needing the definition and enforcement of new strategies, considering both the current limitations and the future developments of Web technologies—in particular, the upcoming Semantic Web. In this chapter, we provide an overview of how Web filtering issues have been addressed by the available systems, bringing in relief both their advantages and shortcomings, and outlining future trends. As an example of how a more accurate and flexible filtering can be enforced, we devote the second part of this chapter to describing a multi-strategy approach, of which the main characteristics are the integration of both list- and metadata-based techniques and the adoption of sophisticated metadata schemes (e.g., conceptual hierarchies and ontologies) for describing both users’ characteristics and Web pages content.

Due to the sudden and explosive increase in web technologies, huge quantity of user generated content is available online. The experiences of people and their opinions play an important role in the decision making process. Although facts provide the ease of searching information on a topic but retrieving opinions is still a crucial task. Many studies on opinion mining have to be undertaken efficiently in order to extract constructive opinionated information from these reviews. The present work focuses on the design and implementation of an Opinion Crawler which downloads the opinions from various sites thereby, ignoring rest of the web. Besides, it also detects web pages which frequently undergo updation by calculating the timestamp for its revisit in order to extract relevant opinions. The performance of the Opinion Crawler is justified by taking real data sets that prove to be much more accurate in terms of precision and recall quality attributes.

<span style="color: #000000;"><span style="font-family: Times New Roman,serif;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">Recent evolutions of social networks, virtual environments, Web technologies and 3D virtual worlds motivate the adoption of new technologies in education, opening successive innovative possibilities. These technologies (or tools) can be employed in distance education scenarios, or can also enhance traditional learning-teaching (blended or hybrid learning scenario). It is known and a wide advocated issue that laboratory practice is essential to technical education, foremost in engineering. In order to develop a feasible implementation to this research area, a prototype was developed, called 3DAutoSysLab, in which a metaverse is used as social collaborative interface, experiments (real or simulated) are linked to virtual objects, learning objects are displayed as interactive medias, and guiding/feedback are supported via an autonomous tutoring system based on user's interaction data mining. This prototype is under test, but preliminary applied results indicate great acceptance and increase of motivation of students.</span></span></span>

Building the innovative blockchain-based architecture across the Internet of Things (IoT) platform for the education system could be an enticing mechanism to boost communication efficiency within the 5 G network. Wireless networking would have been the main research area allowing people to communicate without using the wires. It was established at the start of the Internet by retrieving the web pages to connect from one computer to another computer Moreover, high-speed, intelligent, powerful networks with numerous contemporary technologies, such as low power consumption, and so on, appear to be available in today's world to connect among each other. The extension of fog features on physical things under IoT is allowed in this situation. One of the complex tasks throughout the area of mobile communications would be to design a new virtualization framework based on blockchain across the Internet of Things architecture. The goal of this research is to connect a new study for an educational system that contains Blockchain to the internet of things or keeping things cryptographically secure on the internet. This research combines with its improved blockchain and IoT to create an efficient interaction system between students, teachers, employers, developers, facilitators and accreditors on the Internet. This specified framework is detailed research's great estimation.

End users also start days with Internet. This has become the scenario. One of the most burgeoning needs of computer science research is research on web technologies and intelligence, as that has become one of the most emerging nowadays. A big area of other research areas like e-marketing, e-learning, e-governance, searching technologies, et cetera will be highly benefited if intelligence can be added to the Web. The objective of this chapter is to create a clear understanding of Web technology research and highlight the ways to implement Semantic Web. The chapter also discusses the tools and technologies that can be applied to develop Semantic Web. This new research area needs enough care as sometimes data are open. Thus, software engineering issues are also a focus.

The implementation of virtual and augmented reality environments on the web requires integration between 3D technologies and web technologies, which are increasingly focused on collaboration, annotation, and semantics. Thus, combining VR and AR with the semantics arises as a significant trend in the development of the web. The use of the Semantic Web may improve creation, representation, indexing, searching, and processing of 3D web content by linking the content with formal and expressive descriptions of its meaning. Although several semantic approaches have been developed for 3D content, they are not explicitly linked to the available well-established 3D technologies, cover a limited set of 3D components and properties, and do not combine domain-specific and 3D-specific semantics. In this chapter, the authors present the background, concepts, and development of the Semantic Web3D approach. It enables ontology-based representation of 3D content and introduces a novel framework to provide 3D structures in an RDF semantic-friendly format.

In this chapter, we study the problem of extracting company acquisition relation from huge amounts of webpages, and propose a novel algorithm for a company acquisition relation extraction. Our algorithm considers the tense feature of Web content and classification technology of semantic strength when extracting company acquisition relation from webpages. It first determines the tense of each sentence in a webpage, where a CRF model is employed. Then, the tense of sentences is applied to sentences classification so as to evaluate the semantic strength of the candidate sentences in describing company acquisition relation. After that, we rank the candidate acquisition relations and return the top-k company acquisition relation. We run experiments on 6144 pages crawled through Google, and measure the performance of our algorithm under different metrics. The experimental results show that our algorithm is effective in determining the tense of sentences as well as the company acquisition relation.

The increasing amount of online information demands effective, scalable, and accurate mechanisms to manage and search this information. Distributed semantic-enabled architectures, which enforce semantic web technologies for resource discovery, could satisfy these requirements. In this paper, a semantic-driven adaptive architecture is presented, which improves existing resource discovery processes. The P2P network is organised in a two-layered super-peer architecture. The network formation of super-peers is a conceptual representation of the network’s knowledge, shaped from the information provided by the nodes using collective intelligence methods. The authors focus on the creation of a dynamic hierarchical semantic-driven P2P topology using the network’s collective intelligence. The unmanageable amounts of data are transformed into a repository of semantic knowledge, transforming the network into an ontology of conceptually related entities of information collected from the resources located by peers. Appropriate experiments have been undertaken through a case study by simulating the proposed architecture and evaluating results.
