E-Shoppers' Perception of Web-Based Decision Aid

The WWW, for better or worse, has forever changed the way retailers do business nowadays. E-shoppers, who become more sophisticated and mature nowadays, are demanding increased flexibility and intelligent aids in accessing product information, making purchasing decisions, and obtaining e-services (Anupam, Hull, & Kumar, 2001; Chen, Gillenson, & Sherrell, 2004). The Internet facilitates interactive selling approaches, whereby product offerings can be tailored to individual preferences. It allows e-shoppers to easily gather, retrieve, and analyze product information. Ultimately, the Web offers the ideal vehicle for delivering intelligent online support tools directly to customers (Grenci & Todd, 2002). Unfortunately, most e-commerce sites are rarely aware of taking advantage of such Internet-driven customer aid. Rapid advancements in Internet technology have offered a solution of Web-based customer decision support system (WCDSS) that can improve transactional efficiency by providing tailored merchandising information, offering sales support and consultation, facilitating sales promotion and advertising, and enhancing the consistency, availability and quality of online support to e-shoppers (O’Keefe & Mceachern, 1998). As the WCDSS aims to empower e-shoppers by enabling them to make informed decisions online, the question of how they would perceive such support arises. In this article, we aim to establish a theory-founded framework to understand and explain e-shoppers’ perceptions of the proposed WCDSS functions. We look at the key features of WCDSS functions that may have impact on e-shopper’s perceptions, and how to scale and analyze e-shoppers’ perceptions regarding specific functions. The specific objectives are threefold. We aim (a) to verify the role WCDSS can play in facilitating e-shoppers, (b) to identify the key issues that impact e-shoppers’ perceptions of WCDSS, and (c) to suggest ways in designing and improving WCDSS functions and interfaces.

The purpose of this study is to know the influence between sales promotion to purchase decisions, to know the influence between the quality of service to purchasing decisions, to know the influence between brand trusts on purchasing decisions. The analysis method used is multiple linear regression using SPSS 25 analysis tool. The object of the research in this study was indihome customers of Ciputat region as many as 100 people with random sampling techniques (probability sampling). The results of the analysis stated that partially sales promotion affects purchasing decisions, partially the quality of service services affects purchasing decisions and partially brand trusts affect purchasing decisions, simultaneously (sales promotion, service quality and brand trust) affect purchasing decisions. Concluded in this study is sales promotion influences the decision to use Indihome, the quality of service influences the decision to use Indihome, brand trust influences the decision to use Indihome, simultaneously the promotion of sales of services and brand trust influences the decision to use Indihome.

The timely availability and quality of building product information is critical prerequisite for a successful building delivery process. However, little is known about the processes by which stakeholders acquire and use such data. This contribution documents the results of recent relevant surveys, addressing the building product data processing by planers, clients, and the industry. Web questionnaires and interviews with opinion leaders were conducted. Altogether, over 100 participants provided pertinent insights regarding strengths and weaknesses of the current data representation practices. A comparison of the obtained data with that of an earlier study allows for the documentation of the evolutionary trends in web-based data provision. Most importantly, the results facilitate the formulation of strategies for a more effective presentation and distribution of building product data.

Abstract Background The choice of contraceptive method is a complex decision, and professionals should offer counselling based on the preferences, values and personal situation of the user(s). Some users are unsatisfied with the counselling received, which may, among other consequences, adversely affect method use adherence. In view of this situation, we propose exploring the experiences and needs of users and professionals for contraceptive counselling, in the context of creating a web-based contraceptive decision support tool. Methods/design Qualitative research was conducted through focus group discussions (64 users split into eight groups, and 19 professionals in two groups, in Tarragona, Spain) to explore the subjects’ experiences and needs. The data were categorized and the categories were defined and classified based on the three-step protocol or framework for Quality on Contraceptive Counseling (QCC), created by experts, which reviews the quality of interactions between user and professional during the counselling process. Results In counselling, users demand more information about the different methods, in an environment of erroneous knowledge and misinformation, which lead to false beliefs and myths in the population that are not contrasted by the professional in counselling. They complain that the method is imposed on them and that their views regarding the decision are not considered. Professionals are concerned that their lack of training leads to counselling directed towards the methods they know best. They acknowledge that a paternalistic paradigm persists in the healthcare they provide, and decision support tools may help to improve the situation. Conclusions Users feel unsatisfied and/or demand more information and a warmer, more caring approach. Professionals are reluctant to assume a process of shared decision-making. The use of a contraception DST website may solve some shortcomings in counselling detected in our environment.

The objective of this study is to examine the factors that influence consumers in making online purchasing decisions in Malaysia. The focus of this study is related to consumer attitudes, the factors that influence them to make online purchasing decisions. Researchers evaluate the criteria that can motivate consumers to make decisions when buying online. There are three independent variables studied namely, product price, quality of product information, and product reviews to obtain study data. This study was designed using quantitative methods where survey questions were distributed to a total of 122 respondents via Google Form and distributed online randomly requiring Malaysians aged between 18 and above regardless of gender, race, household income, and education someone. The data collected will be analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Overall, based on the study conducted it is undeniable that there are many consumers making online purchases compared to buying directly at business premises as technology today is growing and Internet access is also expanding and easily in line with the changing lifestyle of society busy nowadays.

The management of IT projects often suffers from the absence of a continuous flow of comprehensible information and a uniform representation of the desired data. This is why the quality of the presented information is often questionable. Project decisions taken at those information bases are often suboptimal and leave a feeling of insecurity. This paper proposes an approach to mitigate those problems by means of a collaborative acquisition of necessary key factors. The collaboration was carried out in 6 iterative meetings with 4 selected industrial partners. Based on the results of these meetings and Design by Research as chosen methodology, a specification was derived which guided the creation of a research software prototype for the subsequent testing phase. The prototype supported improved project-information representation with meta-tagging through keywords. Qualitative and quantitative data were obtained during testing of real projects of the industrial partners and were analyzed afterwards by a suitable mixed method approach. With 6 out of 8 positive tested hypotheses, the results show a significant improvement in the key issues, such as a continuous availability of key facts, improved reliability of the data, and less dependence on individuals during reporting. These initial results point to the fact that the path taken in this study is a promising one towards improving the flow and presentation of information in project management generally. Nevertheless, an advanced follow-up study is recommended for deriving yet more solid ground for the derivation of highly usable software support tools.

Background: Although packaged foods sold in retail stores must follow food labelling regulations, there are no e-grocery food labelling regulations to mandate and standardize the availability and presentation of product information. Therefore, the objective of the study was to evaluate the availability and quality of food labelling components in the Canadian e-grocery retail environment. Methods: A sample of fresh and pre-packaged products was identified on eight leading grocery retail websites in Canada, to assess the availability and quality of food labelling components. Results: Out of 555 product searches, all products were accompanied by product images with front-of-pack images more readily available (96.0%) than back-of-pack (12.4%) and other side panel images (3.1%). The following mandatory nutrition information was available for 61.1% of the products: nutrition facts table (68.8%), ingredient (73.9%), and allergen (53.8%) information. The majority of the nutrition information was available after scrolling down, clicking additionally on the description page, or viewing only as an image. Date markings were not available; packaging material information was available for 2.0% of the products. Conclusions: There was wide variability and inconsistencies in the presentation of food labelling components in the e-grocery retail environment, which can be barriers in enabling Canadians to make informed purchasing decisions.

The use of internet technology in the government environment is known as electronic government or e-government. In simple terms, e-government or digital government is an activity carried out by the government by using information technology support in providing services to the community. In line with the spirit of bureaucratic reform in Indonesia, e-government has a role in improving the quality of public services and helping the process of delivering information more effectively to the public. Over time, the application of e-Government has turned out to have mixed results. In developed countries, the application of e-Government systems in the scope of government has produced various benefits ranging from the efficiency of administrative processes and various innovations in the field of public services. But on the contrary in the case of developing countries including Indonesia, the results are more alarming where many government institutions face obstacles and even fail to achieve significant improvements in the quality of public services despite having adequate information and communication technology. The paradigm of bureaucrats who wrongly considers that the success of e-Government is mainly determined by technology. Even though there are many factors outside of technology that are more dominant as causes of failure such as organizational management, ethics and work culture. This study aims to develop a model of success in the application of e-Government from several best practice models in the field of information technology that have been widely used so far using literature studies as research methods. Background: Binocular and accommodative vision problems are common after mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). Traditionally, the management of visual dysfunctions following mTBI included in-office vision rehabilitation with a trained eye care provider. The concept of providing telehealth for remote vision rehabilitation in mTBI patients is a relatively novel practice that has not been widely utilized until the recent outbreak of the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Case Report: We describe the implementation of telehealth for remote vision rehabilitation during COVID-19 within the Veterans’ Health Administration (VHA) system in an adult patient with multiple confirmed histories of mTBI. Conclusion: Our telehealth remote vision rehabilitation was successfully implemented utilizing established VHA’s web-based videoconferencing tools. Therapeutic goals identified prior to COVID 19 were addressed without any challenges. The delivery of vision rehabilitation intervention via telehealth allowed for the continuance of services within the home setting that led to improvements in functional vision, decreased perception of performance challenges, and improved quality of life.
