As the load of traffic increases in RFID middleware, RFID system can no longer manage the RFID tags. Because of the incapability of the RFID system to handle vast amount of RFID tags, there are possibilities that the data cannot be processed efficiently in the RFID middleware. Implementation of agent technology is useful for verification and validation in RFID system architecture because intelligent agent is autonomous and has the capability to define specific verification process to increase efficiency and trustworthiness of the data in RFID middleware. Therefore, in this research, the authors have implemented the multi-agent based verification of data in RFID middleware. The results of the implementation have been encouraging based on the investigation and verification done on the simulation platform. As a result, the verification of RFID middleware system architecture is clearly understood and has been successfully implemented in RFID system.

The rapid growth of the network-centered (Internet and Intranet) computing environments requires new architectures for information gathering systems. Typically, in these environments, the information resources are dynamic, heterogeneous and distributed. In addition, these computing environments are open, where information resources may be connected or disconnected at any time. This paper presents an architecture for a multi-agent information gathering system. The architecture includes three types of agents: interface, broker and resource agents. The interface agents interact with the users to fulfill their interests and preferences. The resource agents access and capture the content of the information resources. The broker agents facilitate cooperation among the information and the resource agents to achieve their desired goals. This paper provides the agents' architecture, design and implementations that enable them to cooperate, coordinate and communicate with each other to gather information in an open and dynamic environment.

Intelligent agents and multi-agent technologies are an emerging technology in computing and communications that hold much promise for a wide variety of applications in Information Technology. Agent-based systems range from the simple, single agent system performing tasks such as email filtering, to a very complex, distributed system of multiple agents each involved in individual and system wide goal-oriented activity. With the tremendous growth in the Internet and Internet-based computing and the explosion of commercial activity on the Internet in recent years, intelligent agent-based systems are being applied in a wide variety of electronic commerce applications. In order to be able to act autonomously in a market environment, agents must be able to establish and maintain trust relationships. Without trust, commerce will not take place. This research extends previous work in intelligent agents to include a mechanism for handling the trust relationship and shows how agents can be fully used as intermediaries in commerce.

Object-oriented intelligent modeling, model management, etc. are difficult problems in the designing and development of underwater platform combat deduction system. The command and control description model based on OODA loop depicted the business process of underwater platform combat deduction using service-oriented and agent modeling technology and established an underwater platforms deduction system architecture, effectively solving the problem of intelligence, reusing, and extensibility in combat deduction modeling. The chapter has reference value in the designing and development of underwater platforms deduction systems.

This paper introduces a new product modeling method: MAPMNM(Multi-Agent Based Product Modeling for Networked Manufacturing) based on analysing the requirements of product modeling. The method offers a unified product master model and distributed domain models to alliance enterprise based on network by using web service and the agent technology of AI domain. Firstly, the paper gives the framework of the MAPMNM.Secondly, it elaborates on the web services, the architecture and running menchanism of the domain agent in MAPMNM.

A Multi-Agent based transmission fault diagnosis system is researched in this paper. Many data digging analysis methods are employed, combined with data warehouse, OLAP and Multi-Agent technology. An intelligent decision supporting system for monitoring transmission network data is built. Data digging method is used to intelligently analyze and process fault data in the data warehouse, and Agent technology is used to realize data collection, pretreatment, inquiry, knowledge Automatic extraction, mining and other functions, which makes the whole mining process intellectual and intelligent. It aids transmission management with decision-making, thus to make the monitoring and repair of power grid fault more timely and accurate.

The theme of this chapter includes topics of matching, auction and negotiation. We have shown that the knowledge of game theory is very important when designing an agent-based matching or negotiation system. The problem of bounded rationality in multi¬-agent systems is also discussed; we put forward the mechanism design and heuristic methods as solutions. A real negotiation scenario is presented to demonstrate our proposed solutions. In addition, we discuss the future trends of the agent technology in e¬commerce system.
