A wide variety of nanotechnology programs, both pedagogical and research-oriented, can incorporate some aspect of molecular manufacturing. Nanotechnology is developing from large tools that give us access to the nanoscale, to tools constructed at or near the nanoscale. To date, these nanoscale tools are not capable of accomplishing much of commercial interest; however, this will be changing with increasing rapidity over the next decade or two. Eventually, nanoscale tools will be capable of broad classes of nanoscale construction; this will enable the fabrication of increasingly complex and useful structures. Fabrication of structures with molecular precision is especially relevant. When nanoscale tools are developed to the point of being capable of building duplicate tools, a manufacturing revolution may occur; even before that point, there are both scientific and likely commercial benefits to developing capabilities in this area.

The present study offers a descriptive history of the football grounds at Baylor from 1894 to 2014. The current review identifies important individuals and notable events that impacted the football facilities at Baylor. Moreover, the contextual factors influencing each period of change were recognized, and it was determined if Baylor’s facilities followed the pattern of other regional peers. In the case of Baylor, football ultimately created social anchors for the institution and Waco because the increasing popularity and commercial interest in college football produced spectacles capable of providing a unique campus spirit. Next, the spectacle of football and spirit both established and improved alumni relationships and corresponded with interest in elevating the prestige of the university and city to attract students, visitors, and businesses to operate in the area. Finally, the construction of various Baylor football playing grounds produced significant media attention capable of boosting enrollments and recognition that Baylor was a major university.

ABSTRACT Pear is among the fruits of major commercial interest in the world and one of the most imported in Brazil. Brazilian production is very small and the fruit quality is low, due to production problems. The success of culture in the country, among other factors, may be linked to the choice of cultivars, pollinating and rootstocks better adapted to local conditions, and thus depend on the particulars of an agricultural zoning. The aim of this study was to identify, in southern Brazil, homogeneous climatic zones with potential for growing of European and Asian pears, through climate risk studies. The regions were defined by the seasonal availability of chilling hours (<7.2 °C) accumulated during the period from May to September and the monthly risk of drought. The analysis allowed the recognition of four homogeneous areas for the production of pears in southern Brazil.

The keeping quality of properly refrigerated pasteurized milk and cream is primarily determined by post-pasteurization contamination by Gram-negative psychrotrophic bacteria (Phillips et al. 1981; Schröder et al. 1982). Reliable and rapid methods of assessing the levels of contamination by these organisms are therefore of commercial interest.

Use of video by teachers can make learning more engaging or content easier to understand. Video shown in classrooms can be created by others and adapted by or created by the teacher. Traditionally, video created by teachers can be produced with inexpensive digital cameras and basic editing software. With a renewed commercial interest in Three-Dimensional (3D) video and with video equipment costs declining, the option now exists to have 3D video in classrooms. What is not known is the process to allow for teacher-created video that can take advantage of the 3D format. This case details how an undergraduate teacher candidate created a 3D video using existing production equipment and freely available software. The chapter examines the planning details, course design, and outcomes related to 3D video production. Suggestions to educators for integrating 3D into their schools are also included.
