The Fourth Industrial Revolution is affecting all disciplines and represents a new way of using technologies that are fusing the physical, digital, and biological worlds. An analysis of possible future applications of artificial intelligence, sensors, and robotics in industries suggests that different technological trends are reshaping the industrial production, in this way demanding a different workforce. This leads to the automation of processes and it demands a workforce with engineers possessing knowledge of disciplines like computing, mechanics, and process management. In this scenario, the main objective of this investigation was to study new ways to educate engineers in two perspectives: in small scale face-to-face education and in large-scale distance education. In both perspectives of small- and large-scale courses, the same discipline with the same lecturer is considered as a way to allow for better comparisons. The chosen discipline is simulation of systems.

The article analyzes the risks and new opportunities that arise before man and modern society in the light of the development of artificial intelligence and robotics in the conditions of the fourth industrial revolution. The rapid development of AI indicates the absence of uniform approaches to assessing the risks and prospects associated with the use of AI. Using PESTEL analysis, the article examines the key areas of interaction between AI and humans, new challenges and prospects that open to humanity in the era of new technologies.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution has resulted in the disruption of the world of work whereby technological innovation such as artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. These disruptions may be creative in that as some jobs are lost due to the development of artificial intelligence, new ones are created. This chapter explored the impact of disruptive technological innovations on the future of work. The skill gaps brought about by the emergence of the Fourth Industrial Revolution was also explored in this chapter.

Therefore, to reach the high-tech time, many magazines in Vietnam have changed dramatically, striving to reach the international scientific journal system of ISI, Scopus. The race to develop and implement autonomous systems and artificial intelligence has challenged the responsiveness of governments in many areas and none more so than in the domain of labour market policy. This article draws upon a large survey of Singaporean employees and managers (N = 332) conducted in 2019 to examine the extent and ways in which artificial intelligence and autonomous technologies have begun impacting workplaces in Singapore. Our conclusions reiterate the need for government intervention to facilitate broad-based participation in the productivity benefits of fourth industrial revolution technologies while also offering re-designed social safety nets and employment protections. The article deals with the modern processes of changing the technological basis of the world economy on the basis of large-scale transition to the use of technologies of the fourth industrial revolution, shaping new markets and opens up prospects for sustainable economic growth. It is in the scientific and technological sphere that the competition between countries is shifting. Russia remains nearly invisible player in this field. The author tried to consider the main reasons for such a lag and identify a set of measures of state scientific and technological policy that can give the necessary impetus to the scientific and technological development of Russia.


Engineering is crucial for economic development in developed and developing countries. With various changes taking place globally over the years, it has had influence on all aspect of human endeavor and we are now at a time of pervasive breakout of technologies known as the fourth industrial revolution. This study therefore conceptualizes excellence VS relevance in engineering education in the era of the fourth industrial revolution by first demystifying what the fourth industrial revolution is and then conceptualizing excellence and relevance in engineering education. Findings from the study revealed that Findings from the study revealed that the world is at a stage of massive changes and this requires solutions to these numerous changes. It was also found out that excellence and relevance are not new as it is a common term used across various spheres of human life especially within the university where excellence in research and learning is emphasized. The study recommended that STEM education should be encouraged across board so as to develop the skills necessary in the fourth industrial age and also effort should be made at intensifying action on adopting some of the technologies that are emerging in the fourth industrial revolution especially in the developing countries.
