Crises show all the aspects that surround a society, demonstrating whether society is equal to the demands or not. The current COVID-19 pandemic is creating a challenge for all market agents, be they politicians, entrepreneurs, or individuals, where the difficulties are presented every day from different perspectives: social, economic, educational. Therefore, both companies and individuals are implementing numerous solidarity strategies to help society and combat the effects of the health crisis. The question contemplated in this research is if this is the beginning of a new social-business paradigm, in which the results do not take precedence over the social aspects around the business market. And it is in this framework where this research focuses on studying this paradigm shift, analysing the future impact that these solidarity measures of companies will have on society, and therefore on consumer behaviour.

To the Editor.— In the article "Primary Care: The Future of Pediatric Education"1 Dr Alpert addresses many issues facing pediatrics. I agree with his list of problems. However, I doubt that the social, economic, and cultural changes he describes will ever occur. My informal survey of pediatricians in practice is a song of frustration and boredom. The ringing telephone provides the rhythm. How does a patient-physician relationship develop in an environment of missed appointments, 3 AM emergency department visits, and managed care? Many families change physicians whenever employers change health benefits packages.

The social, economic and technological changes that have occurred in the last decade have substantially altered consumers’ eating behaviour. The objective of this study was to identify and describe cocooning as a new phenomenon in the food choices of Polish consumers and the factors that shape it, with particular stress on the possible impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on this trend. For this purpose, primary and secondary tests were carried out. The primary studies examine the level of cocooning in consumer’ food choices, while secondary data analysis focuses on finding a relation between this phenomenon and the COVID-19 pandemic. The direct research was conducted by means of the survey method on a sample of 660 Poles in 2018. The survey carried out among Poles has shown that cocooning is rather poorly noticeable in the eating behaviour of consumers. This trend is observable predominantly in the behaviour of young people who are rather highly educated city residents; however, this depends on the type of activity related to cocooning. On the basis of secondary research, it has been shown that anxiety and a disturbed sense of public and social security are one of the most important factors that may affect the development of cocooning in consumer behaviour. The COVID-19 pandemic that hit the world in 2020 has evoked this kind of feeling in many consumers, which has been aggravated by the restrictions imposed by the state. Owing to the restrictions, social isolation increased and Poles have transferred many activities home, thus forming new habits, which may have a strong impact on their consumption behaviour in the longer term, even after the pandemic comes to an end. It is worth noting that the increase in the level of cocooning directly contributes to the growth of the e-commerce market, which poses new challenges especially for the logistics industry.

Through case studies of incidents around the world where the social media platforms have been used and abused for ulterior purposes, Chapter 6 highlights the lessons that can be learned. For good or for ill, the author elaborates on the way social media has been used as an arbiter to inflict various forms of political influence and how we may have become desensitized due to the popularity of the social media platforms themselves. A searching view is provided that there is now a propensity by foreign states to use social media to influence the user base of sovereign countries during key political events. This type of activity now justifies a paradigm shift in relation to our perception and utilization of computerized devices for the future.

By July 2006 all 85 local authorities expect to have their 10-year Long Term Council Community Plans (LTCCPs) signed and sealed, and passing muster with an unqualified audit report. The new Local Government Act 2002 (LGA 2002) has provided councils with general empowerment and introduced a new purpose (section 3) for local government: to ‘promote the social, economic, cultural and environmental well-being of communities now and for the future’.

Yale historian Robin Winks once observed that writing history is “like nailing jelly to the wall.” But, he added, “someone must keep trying.” Trying to describe sweeping historical trends and then to predict future trends is even more difficult. This chapter considers futurists’ predictions as to the social, economic, and behavioral advances we might expect in the next 50 years. The predictions are divided into three categories: technological transformations, economic and practical changes, and cultural alterations in general attitudes. The future of love and sex is discussed in the context of these changes, along with trends in globalization. Since we tend to think technology may be the major driver of change in history, the chapter starts there.

We start with the question of city definition and we present the concept as it is normally accepted in geography. That means focusing in concentration, centrality and services, besides the fact that the city is a social-economic process and a spatial form. The first component however raises the question of territorial appropriation and identification of space by users. Urbanization implies transformation, thus in the second part we refer to the most important components of the urban change. They run between opposite trends that almost enable the prediction o f the future for the cityscapes, once they are concentration and descentralization, growth and decline, global homogeneity and place differentiation. We look at them through the modifications they have in the urban land or in the social structure.

Seeing the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the Soviet Union gave a false hope to the proponent of capitalism that it is the only hope for the future. However, this very belief is crumbling the western societies with the rise of the populism and nationalism. Amidst this confusion, this paper revisited the published literature on social business model suggested by Nobel Laureate prof. Muhammad Yunus and added a new dimension of entrepreneurial attention suggested by Ocasio (1997). Propositions are derived on how the entrepreneurial attention increases the sustainable performance of the social business.

This village has existed since 844 year of caka, during the reign of Queen Sri Urgrasena in Bali. Pakraman Julah Village is precisely located in Tejakula District, Bali. This village has its own uniqueness, from customs, culture and also its architecture such as the pattern of settlements and patterns of the dwelling. This study raises the issue of the extent to which social, economic and cultural aspects affect and is closely related to the formation of settlement patterns and patterns of the dwelling in this Pakraman Julah Village. The pattern of settlement in Pakraman Julah Village is formed because it is based on the concept of "Nyegara Gunung", which is in the customs and philosophy of Balinese society. In the Balinese philosophy "Nyegara Gunung" is that the elements between sea and mountain cannot be separated, and become a unity parallel and mutually supportive of each other. Meanwhile, the pattern of occupancy that existed in the community of Pakraman Julah Village was formed because of the concept of "Rwa Bhineda" ie two elements/ contradictory things such as luan-teben (outside-inside); sacred-profane, upstream-downstream; north-south; positive-negative; etc. The pattern of settlements and pattern of the dwelling that formed in the life of the community of Pakraman Julah Village and other traditional villages in Bali, of course, indirectly influenced by social, economic and cultural aspects of the community. In this research will be studied more deeply about the relationship and reciprocal relationship between the formation of settlement patterns and pattern of the dwelling in this Pakraman Julah Village with the social, economic, and cultural aspects. This study uses a qualitative comparative method that puts forward the deductive approach in the analysis of the discussion. Keywords: pattern of settlement, pattern of dwelling, social aspects, economic aspects, cultural aspects
