The purpose of this chapter is to present research describing work in an organizational context in order to optimize the practices established in the most diverse domains of knowledge, attending to the relationships between information and communication technologies (ICTs) and sustainability in the post-COVID-19 pandemic era. An empirical study into the impact of digital transformation via unified communication and collaboration (UC&C) technologies on the productivity and innovation of a global automotive enterprise is thus reported on in the chapter. The primary research question addressed in the study was: To what extent does digital transformation, implemented through unified communication and collaboration technologies, impact productivity and innovation within a global automotive enterprise? The conclusion of the study is that digital transformation, delivered via an integrated framework with UC&C technologies, impact productivity and opportunity for driving innovation within a global automotive enterprise.

Gender is an important issue in the context of information and communication technologies (ICT). Studies show that ICT use is subject to gender bias, e.g. in relation to ICT use and interests. This contribution describes the current situation of gender and ICT professions in Germany and Greece. Based on an empirical study, it shows particular areas in ICT education that suffer from gender inequalities in both countries. Furthermore, the chapter elaborates how gender inequalities develop from secondary to professional ICT careers based on statistics from Germany and Greece.

Information and communication technologies (ICT) can provide added value in an organizational context in order to enhance the definition of business support strategies. The purpose of the chapter is to focus on the contribution of ICT to implement a sustainability policy in the organizations, in the context of the sustainable development goals to improve cooperation and promote development. In this context, the principles of the Karlskrona Manifesto are applied to the development of software systems. The methodology focused on the literature review of the domain and on a case study, in order to analyze the impact of ICT as an engine of sustainability in organizations. The main conclusions focus on the analysis of the impact of established practices in organizations to design and develop sustainable software systems. The results point to a greater consciousness of the potential effects of software systems on sustainability, which will improve management practices, reducing the quantity of material to be recycled, and aligning organizational strategies with Green IT.

Digital transformation of society and economy led to the rapid spread of information and communication technologies (ICT) in higher education, which became a new driver of development for global education and for the emergence of the phenomena of e-learning and blended learning, introduction of new types of educational resources, and increased diversity of information and communication technologies in higher education, which also led to a rise in the number of publications in this field. The article considers the essence and offers a classification of technical tools of e-learning. The authors conducted a comparative analysis of approaches to the formation of models of quality of electronic services and information technologies, as well as specific models of e-learning quality. This allowed the authors to propose a model of e-learning quality and determine the set of consumer properties of e-learning technology. The reported study was funded by RFBR, project number 20-010-00571 "The Impact of Digital Transformation on Improving the Quality and Innovation of Services".

Measuring the impact of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) on the economy is a major challenge and a research question standing at the forefront of economics in the past years. In terms of methodologies, two approaches have been followed extensively, i.e. the standard growth accounting methodology and the regression-based models. This paper aims at developing an alternative approach to studying the usage and impact of ICTs. For this purpose, a two-step methodology is proposed here. At first, hierarchical cluster analysis is used to provide an objective clustering of countries (Macedonia and EU-28) according to 53 indicator values/scores of the Networked Readiness Index. Furthermore, a system dynamics model is proposed to simulate the evolution of the NRI indicator values for Macedonia. This second step allows for examining the potential of the country to improve its rankings on a global scale and thus, become better at leveraging ICTs for increased competitiveness and well-being. Beyond the rankings, the proposed methodology can serve as a useful guide for those attributes Macedonia should focus on in order to improve its position relative to other countries, i.e. to move from its current to the next higher cluster.
