Harmonic wavelet function, with the strict box-shaped characteristic of spectrum, has strong ability of identifying signal in frequency domain, and can extract weak components form vibration signals in frequency domain. Using harmonic wavelet analysis method, the selected frequency region and other frequency components of vibration signal of mine ventilator were decomposed into independent frequency bands without any over-lapping or leaking. Simulation and diagnosis example show that this method has good fault diagnosis effect, and the ventilator fault is diagnosed successfully.

Signal measuring is an important link in machine fault diagnosis. Accurate and reliable fault signals can be achieved by reasonable signal measuring. When the distance between sensor and measuring gear or bearing is comparatively far, the collected signals became weak and disturbed by other vibratory signals in equipments on bearing and gear fault analysis. Useful signals often were submerged in powerful noise, so caused difficult in extracting fault feature. In this paper, according to the feature of vibratory signals in machine test, wavelet analysis basic theory was applied on researching basic feature of wavelet analysis. By selecting suitable wavelet function and applying wavelet elimination noise technology the signal to noise ratio of signal was raised, thus the vibratory impact component can be measured in weak signals. Finally, wavelet analysis was applied on bearing fault diagnosis.

The principle and application of wavelet analysis and gearbox fault diagnosis are described in the paper. To the experimental measurement of gearbox vibration signal, the time-domain and frequency-domain signals are got by wavelet transform. Then it get a clearly gearbox vibration signal by wavelet de-noising. The residual signal processing and three-dimensional wavelet analysis, it get the failure frequency and determine the fault characteristics. By the experimental signal wavelet transform, it reflects that the wavelet analysis method is better than traditional Fourier transform, so it is an effective method of fault diagnosis.

Wavelet analysis with its unique features is very suitable for analyzing non-stationary signal, and it can also be used as an ideal tool for signal processing in fault diagnosis. The characteristics of the faults and the necessary information on the diagnosis can be constructed and extracted respectively by wavelet analysis. Though wavelet analysis is specialized in characteristics extraction, it can not determine the fault type. So this paper has proposed an energy analysis method based on wavelet transform. Experiment results show the method is very effective for sensor fault diagnosis, because it can not only detect the sensor faults, but also determine the fault type.

This paper proposes a novel fault diagnosis method for rotating machinery based on symptom parameters and Bayesian Network. Non-dimensional symptom parameters in frequency domain calculated from vibration signals are defined for reflecting the features of vibration signals. In addition, sensitive evaluation method for selecting good non-dimensional symptom parameters using the method of discrimination index is also proposed for detecting and distinguishing faults in rotating machinery. Finally, the application example of diagnosis for a roller bearing by Bayesian Network is given. Diagnosis results show the methods proposed in this paper are effective.

Abstract Engine vibration signals include strong noise and non-stationary signals. By the time domain signal processing approach, it is hard to extract the failure features of engine vibration signals, so it is hard to identify engine failures. For improving the success rate of engine failure detection, an engine angle domain vibration signal model is established and an engine fault detection approach based on the signal model is proposed. The angle domain signal model reveals the modulation feature of the engine angular signal. The engine fault diagnosis approach based on the angle domain signal model involves equal angle sampling and envelope analysis of engine vibration signals. The engine bench test verifies the effectiveness of the engine fault diagnosis approach based on the angle domain signal model. In addition, this approach indicates a new path of engine fault diagnosis and detection.

The vibration signals of gearbox gear fault signatures are informative components that can be used for gearbox fault diagnosis and early fault detection. However, the vibration signals are normally non-linear and non-stationary, and they contain background noise caused by data acquisition systems and the interference of other machine elements. Especially in conditions with varying rotational speeds, the informative components are blended with complex, unwanted components inside the vibration signal. Thus, to use the informative components from a vibration signal for gearbox fault diagnosis, the noise needs to be properly distilled from the informational signal as much as possible before analysis. This paper proposes a novel gearbox fault diagnosis method based on an adaptive noise reducer–based Gaussian reference signal (ANR-GRS) technique that can significantly reduce noise and improve classification from a one-against-one, multiclass support vector machine (OAOMCSVM) for the fault types of a gearbox. The ANR-GRS processes the shaft rotation speed to access and remove noise components in the narrowbands between two consecutive sideband frequencies along the frequency spectrum of a vibration signal, enabling the removal of enormous noise components with minimal distortion to the informative signal. The optimal output signal from the ANR-GRS is then extracted into many signal feature vectors to generate a qualified classification dataset. Finally, the OAOMCSVM classifies the health states of an experimental gearbox using the dataset of extracted features. The signal processing and classification paths are generated using the experimental testbed. The results indicate that the proposed method is reliable for fault diagnosis in a varying rotational speed gearbox system.

Although many wavelet de-noising methods have been studied and proposed, the parameters of them are obtained by experience mostly, which makes the de-noising effect instable. To solve the issues, the solutions, such as the selection of wavelet function and threshold function, the calculation of decomposition levels, the optimal wavelet packet basis and the thresholds obtained based on QPSO, have been studied in this paper. Every parameter is obtained by calculation. This method is applied to the de-noising experiment of sine and vibration signals. Through the experimental verification, the effect of this de-noising method is obvious.

Engine is as a power machine, the operating status is good or bad, directly affects the working status of equipment. The status monitoring and fault diagnosis is very necessary to ensure that the equipment runs in its best, and improves equipment maintenance quality and efficiency. The engine failure shows the complexity and diversity of the interaction and complex relationship between the various subsystems of the engine, that is the fault of complexity, ambiguity, correlation, relativity and multiple faults coexistence. The available information are much in the engine diagnosis, for example, the vibration signal from bearings, cylinder head or cylinder block surface; oil, cooling water, pressure of intake, exhaust and fuel; temperature signal; noise, speed or oil-sample signals. In this paper, an engine as an example, engine fault diagnosis experimental system is built, the normal state, left one and right six cylinders off the oil, air filter blockage (inlet wood blockage is 30%, the inlet has screen cloth.) in the load of 2565Nm, and the speeds of 1500r/min, 1800r/min, 2200r/min are studied. The experimental results analysis, feature extraction and fault diagnosis are finished based on the time domain and frequency domain. Keywords: engine, fault diagnosis, time domain, frequency domain.

During the operation process of the high voltage circuit breaker, the changes of vibration signals can reflect the machinery states of the circuit breaker. The extraction of the vibration signal feature will directly influence the accuracy and practicability of fault diagnosis. This paper presents an extraction method based on ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD). Firstly, the original vibration signals are decomposed into a finite number of stationary intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). Secondly, calculating the envelope of each IMF and separating the envelope by equal-time segment and then forming equal-time segment energy entropy to reflect the change of vibration signal are performed. At last, the energy entropies could serve as input vectors of support vector machine (SVM) to identify the working state and fault pattern of the circuit breaker. Practical examples show that this diagnosis approach can identify effectively fault patterns of HV circuit breaker.
