This paper proposes an improved evaluation model combining grey correlation analysis and AHP method that measures the safety performance of construction site. The safety assessment index system was established relating the actual condition of construction site. The weight of each assessment index was calculated through AHP model which use in grey correlation analysis for breaking through the limitations of conventional method. Then, the grey correlation degree was obtained through calculating the weighted means of grey correlation coefficient, and then, the rank of safety performance level of construction sites was determined. Through this improvement, the assessment results can be more scientific and functional. The effectiveness of our methodology was verified with an empirical study. The results show that this method can be an effective tool to predict the safety performance of construction projects sites, which is useful to reduce the occurrence of the construction safety misadventure.

This paper proposes a hybrid evaluation approach combining fuzzy comprehensive assessment method and AHP that measures the safety performance of construction site. The weight of each index was calculated through AHP model which use in fuzzy comprehensive assessment, and then the safety level of construction sites was determined by multi-layer fuzzy comprehensive assessment technique. In order to find out the main causes of safety level of construction site’ changes, the grey correlation analysis was used to quantify the influence degree of each factor of safety level of construction site. The effectiveness of our methodology was verified with an empirical study by using the data of 3 construction sites we investigated. The results show that this approach can be an effective tool to predict the safety performance of construction projects sites, which is useful to provide a scientific basis for the management and decisions of accident prevention.

Combining ideal solving method and Euclidean distance, the article constructs a new course evaluation model based on grey correlation analysis method. First, idealizes and standardizes the quantitatively treated evaluation indicators, constructs positive and negative incidence matrix. Then, defines grey correlation distance degree, puts forward an evaluation way close to the optimal solution and far from the worst one. At last, introduces the actual use of model by combining a course evaluation, and tests its accuracy and feasibility.

PurposeThe implementation of the innovation-driven development strategy is of practical significance for improving the quality and efficiency of economic growth and accelerating the transformation of economic development mode. The purpose of this paper is to study the impact of innovation-driven strategies on marine industry agglomeration and industrial transformation.Design/methodology/approachIn traditional grey correlation analysis, when the positive and negative areas cancel each other out during the integration process, the calculation result of the correlation degree is often inconsistent with the qualitative analysis. For this reason, from the perspective of curve similarity, this paper constructs two response curves through the relative change area of the two curves and the relative area change ratio of similar degree, thus constructing an improved grey relational model.FindingsThe authors find that the innovation investment has a better correlation with marine industrial agglomeration. It also found that Guangdong Province has the highest degree of correlation between innovation indicators and marine industrial agglomeration. Much beyond the authors’ expectation, in the areas where marine industrial agglomeration is high, the synergistic effect is not obvious by using the location entropy method.Originality/valueThe improved grey correlation analysis method can effectively overcome the phenomenon that the positive and negative areas cancel each other in the integration process of the original algorithm, and it can also effectively measure the negative correlation between variables. This paper explores the impact of innovation drive on the agglomeration of marine industries, which is of great significance to the sustainable development of marine economy.

Large diameter and super-long pile has found abroad application in high buildings, super high buildings, large bridges and port engineering, and its ultimate bearing capacity is increasingly demanding. Its ultimate bearing capacity is affected by many kinds of uncertainty factors, which is a complex grey analysis program. The influencing factors are analyzed by grey system theory such as pile diameter, pile length, socket length, the length to diameter ratio, the socket length to diameter ratio, rock strength and rock coefficient of weathering. The grey correlation analysis is combined with the tested statistical data of 19 large diameter and super-long piles in Zhejiang province based on the grey correlation model. With the objective to overcome the lack of objectivity in calculating correlation degree of the grey correlation analysis, this paper has improved the calculated formula of the correlation degree based on the distance analysis method. The paper has get and compared the corresponding result of the correlation degree and its rank of various influence factors with the improved calculated formula and the original formula respectively. The influence advantage factors found by grey correlation analysis, and the results can provide important reference for the future theoretical research and design application of large diameter and super-long pile, and show that the grey correlation method is effective and reliable.

In order to determine the main related factors affecting the wharf safety, this paper presents a model using the grey correlation analysis process to give a quantitative analysis about accidents in petrochemical wharf. Based on the statistics of wharf accidents in a petrochemical wharf of Tianjin Port from 2008 to 2012, the study analyzes four main accidents and related causes that take place in a petrochemical wharf. The grey correlation degree of the factors are calculated and analyzed including human factor, no emergency measures, equipment damage, poor management, environmental factor in petrochemical wharf, respectively. The result shows that the main causes of accidents are operation against rules and poor management in petrochemical wharf, and operation against rules is the most important factor. The application of grey correlation analysis gives a quantitative analysis to the degree affected by different factors so that wharf accidents can be avoided by taking effective measures.

This paper introduced the stepwise regression analysis principle, grey correlation analysis and Kalman filter. Aiming at the situation of more impact factors on a certain dam deformation, a new algorithm for Kalman filter based on grey correlation analysis is given. It takes the horizontal deformation of a certain dam for example, through the grey correlation analysis to discuss the correlation degree of various impact factors and establish grey correlation Kalman filter model, and carry out comparison analysis of stepwise regression model. The results show that both two kinds of models have a better precision, but the grey relational Kalman filter presents higher synthesis accuracy and can provide more accurate prediction results.

Purpose – Statistics show that selecting the best investment program based on both cost and effectiveness can avoid financial losses. However, investment evaluation of a power transformer is full of uncertainty as it is hard to obtain accurate and useful cost-effectiveness results. Therefore, the purpose of the paper is to establish an investment evaluation model. Design/methodology/approach – The cost-effectiveness evaluation model in this study used grey correlation analysis for the power transformer selection based on life cycle cost (LCC). Indices of cost and effectiveness factors were chosen to form a three-level index system including quantitative and qualitative factors. Evidential reasoning was applied to quantify the qualitative indexes. Grey correlation analysis was applied to select the best investment program. Findings – The results from this study show that the proposed approach is effective and offers a new approach to evaluating transformer investment. Practical implications – The model was applied to an investing decision-making problem of the transformer in a new substation in Wuhan, China. Originality/value – It is very important to select the best transformer program in the candidate investment programs because the investment program decides almost 70 percent of the LCC of the power transformer.
