This paper proposes a new speed control scheme for a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor(PMSM) by means of multi-mode control method,Human Simulate Intelligent Control. Similar to hierarchical intelligent control system, the proposed controller for PMSM is composed of three sections,Task Adapter Level (TA), Self-Tuning Level (ST) and Master Controller Level (MC).Simulation results clearly show that the controller guarantees the speed tracking errors asymptotically converge to zero despite time varying reference speed and load torque disturbance variation.Numerical simulations reveal the superiority of the proposed controller to traditional PI.

Permanent magnet synchronous motor always suffers from air gap field distortion and inverter nonlinearity, which lead to the harmonic components in motor currents. A resonant controller is a remarkable control method to eliminate periodic disturbance, whereas the conventional resonant controller is limited by narrow bandwidth and phase lag. This article presents a novel resonant controller with a precise phase compensation method for a permanent magnet synchronous motor to suppress the current harmonics. Based on the analysis of the current harmonic characteristics, the proposed resonant controller for rejecting a set of selected current harmonic components is plugged in the current loop, and it is parallel to the traditional proportional–integral controller. Furthermore, the stability analysis of the proposed resonant controller is investigated, and the parameters are tuned to get a satisfactory performance. Compared with the conventional resonant controller, the proposed resonant controller can achieve good steady-state performance, dynamic performance, and frequency adaptivity performance, simultaneously. Finally, the experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed suppression scheme.

In order to deeply understand the characteristics of the permanent magnet synchronous motor direct torque control method, its mathematical models were established in the two-phase stationary coordinate system, the two-phase synchronous rotating coordinate system, and x-y stator synchronous rotating coordinate system. The implementation process of direct torque control method in varied stator winding connection was analyzed in detail. In order to improve the speed and torque performance of the permanent magnet synchronous motor, the direct torque control block diagram and the space voltage vector selection table were given. Finally, the summary and outlook of reducing torque ripple in the permanent magnet synchronous motor direct torque control methods.

This paper mainly reviews the development of permanent magnet synchronous motor drive system. It presents several approaches of PMSM control strategies, including control strategies based on classical control, modern control and intelligent control. Theoretical background briefly describes the properties of these control techniques. Among these control strategies, vector control and direct torque control are considered as the mature methods for PMSM motors control currently. Advanced control strategies, with adaptive control, variable structure control and intelligent control included, improve the performance of PMSM in some respects, such as variations of plant parameters sensitivity, external disturbance and so on. It shows that the researches in this area are still a popular research topic. Finally, this paper prospected the foreground of the control strategies for PMSM.

A novel speed control method based on sliding mode control and disturbance observer is studied for permanent magnet synchronous motor drives. Different from the conventional speed and current cascade control structure in the field-oriented vector control, the new controller adopts the single-loop control structure, in which the speed and quadrate axes current controllers are combined together. First, a multiple-surface sliding mode controller is designed for the speed control system of permanent magnet synchronous motor. Although the sliding mode controller has the strong robustness for the matched disturbance in the system, it still cannot deal with mismatched disturbance effectively, such as external load disturbance and some parameter variations. Thus, the disturbance observer is introduced to estimate the disturbance in the motor, which is designed by combining the proposed sliding mode controller. Finally, the effectiveness is tested under various conditions by both simulation and experiment. The results show that the designed controller has the fast transient response and robustness under different operating conditions.
