A line maze robot training course, which contains the hardware circuit implementation, firmware programming skills and the shortest path algorithm, is presented in this paper. The training course is used for vocation senior high school teachers and students. The major topic for students is to develop the proper firmware programming to achieve the better performance and students are encouraged to pass the small contest in the end of the workshop. The low-cost educational platform is easily by the economically disadvantaged students. Students, who join the workshop can learn the basic C language, the firmware programming skills for microcontrollers, the concept of the shortest path algorithm for line maze robot, just spend less $40 USD to buy the robots. The contributions of this training course are as follows: 1) studying the hardware implementation knowledge, 2) developing microcontroller-related firmware programming skills, 3) learning motion control skills of the line maze robot, and 4) learning line-maze solving algorithms. Few students, who join this training workshop and learn the related hardware, firmware and algorithm, can find the shortest path form source to target in the line map. The feedback of the most students shows that the training course gives them the motivation to actively learn the necessary practical skills to design the firmware programming to guide the line maze robot.

Discipline in class is essential. Without it the educational processes and teachings are difficult. In this manner curricula goals are almost impossible to achieve. There are and there always will be some kind of conflicts between teachers and students, but they should not evolve to become a problem. Teachers (especially elderly teachers) often express pessimism of contemporary students. They say that today's students have less knowledge, they do misbehave more often than previous generations. A study among students was conducted. It was trying to determine the rate of discipline in schools in Celje to see if these statements are true. The questionnaire to students of one primary and one high school in Celje, Slovenia were distributed. The answers from 234 students were received. On the one hand, it was found out that senior high school students have the worst level of discipline of all the grades tested. They themselves assess their class atmosphere as less disciplined. They report that teachers use a lot of time to calm the class down. All this is probably a factor in lower average grade that the senior high school students have. On the other hand, it was found out that teachers do not react to the disturbance or they are trying to be repressive. These are not the correct ways of dealing with discipline issues. Therefore, there are some recommended ways how teachers should react. Keywords: discipline in class, primary school, contemporary student, elderly teachers.

Project-based learning is a way of working which is gaining ground in Swedish schools. The Swedish Government has recently decreed that senior high school students must carry out a fairly extensive piece of research in the form of a project. The project has to be finished in one and a half years from preparatory planning to final presentation. Working with projects has now more clearly made the School Library in Sweden into an educational resource. In our seminar we will give you some idea of how project-based learning is being practised as teamwork between librarians, students and teachers in two Swedish senior high school libraries. We show how we guide teachers and students in our libraries, now well equipped with traditional media as well as modern technology. We will also point out specific problems that we meet and draw attention to new thinking about learning in modern society.

The education system acknowledges the relevance and impact of arts in exploring students' different skills and competencies.  However, most of the learners remain bias on the purpose and essence of art-based activities since most of the strands offered in senior high school are academically designed through the K-12 program, which guides and prepares incoming college students in choosing their career path.  Hence, this study attempted to determine the vital role of arts-based instructional approaches to enrich students' learning in one selected catholic Senior High school in Manila, Philippines.  Applying a qualitative approach through intensive interviews, 15 Health Allied students participated in this study.  Results revealed that arts are highly integrated with the delivery of the different lessons of the involved strand.  Moreover, arts proved that they have solid and influential roles in improving students' quality of learning.  Furthermore, the impact and relevance of arts as an instructional approach supports the learning process of health allied students. Thus, this research informs and guides the teachers and students on the importance and impact of art as an overlooked field in education that maximizes one's potentials.

The school core values influence the desirable behaviors, beliefs, and attitudes of senior high school students.  This descriptive-comparative study assessed the perceived degree of influence of the school core values on the behaviors of the senior high school students as assessed by students themselves and teachers. Using a researcher-made survey questionnaire, the data were collected and were analyzed using mean and Mann Whitney. The findings generally revealed that teachers and students strongly agree on the perceived influence of core values on students’ behaviors. When results were compared according to assessors’ designation, students significantly rated higher than teachers. On the other hand, students' assessment of the perceived influence of core values to students' behaviors showed a significant difference when compared according to sex, but no significant difference in the school of origin.  The findings may be used as a basis for the formulation of a learning log in teaching Understanding Culture, Society, and Politics.

ABSTRACT This study aimed to reveal the moral values in the narrative texts of English textbooks for senior high school students published by the Ministry of Education and Culture and also the English teachers’ and students’ responses at SMK Triguna Utama, South Tangerang City, related to the topic under investigation. This research used content analysis design. The data sources were the narrative texts in the English textbooks and teachers’ and students’ responses. The data were collected through documentation, interview, and questionnaire. Data analysis procedures consisted of perusing, eliciting, coding, tabulating, interpreting, drawing conclusions and validating. The research found that the English textbooks lacked fables and gave a smaller portion to Indonesian local stories. Moreover, the narrative texts were dominated by the value of kindness, while, fairness was included least explicitly in the stories. These findings were supported by the views and preferences of the teachers and students. Lastly, the teachers and students compactly argued that vocabulary is the greatest barrier to teaching and learning narrative text, and the effectiveness of the school’s atmosphere in instilling moral values still needed further research. How to Cite: Setiawan, I., Fahriany.
