The experiment use clinoptilolite powder as main materials to prepare the large specific surface and high porosity spherical compound filter material.Experimental results indicate that compound filter material is used as filter medium in biological aerated filter for wastewater treatment,in the early 5 days the average removal rate of NH3-N was 58.5% in biological aerated filter when the average influent NH3-N concentration was 37 mg/L. At the stably running phase, the average removal ratio and concentration of effluent NH3-N reached 83.51% and 5.81mg/L, when the average concentrations of influent NH3-N was 35mg/L which could meet the first order discharging index of Integrated Wastewater Discharge Standard (GB 8978-1996).

In order to effectively resolve pollution issue of water quenched slag and its comprehensive use or second use of materials, the water quenched slag filter material is developed using water quenched slag with the addition of adhesion-increasing agent and porogen by commingle, pelletizing and curing. Experimental results indicate that water quenched slag filter material is used as filter medium in biological aerated filter for wastewater treatment, and the removal rate of COD, NH3-N comes up to 84.62%,90.20% respectively. The filter material is much more predominant and possesses a much wider application prospect in the treatment of wastewate.

In order to combine the microbial metabolism characteristics in biological aerated filter (BAF) with the adsorption and ion-exchange ability of natural clinoptilolite to treat sanitary wastewater, the experiment use clinoptilolite powder as main materials to prepare the large specific surface and high porosity spherical compound filter material by adding adhesive and pore-forming agent etc and get better effect on sanitary wastewater treatment. The static adsorption test showed that the adsorb ratios of ammonia-nitrogen is 58.5% when the compound filter material dosage was 100g/L, NH3-N concentration was 100mg/L and the contact time was 40min.The cure fitting of the adsorption isotherm of NH3-N on the compound filter material could be well described by the Langmuir formula and the coefficient of determination is 0.99216.

Biological Aerated Filter has the drawback of severe plug under low temperature, and frequent back-washing would cause the bad performance of ammonia removal. To solve these shortcomings, partial backwashing experiment was carried out to test its amelioration effect on Biological Aerated Filter. The result showed that performing backwashing at the 40 cm of filter had strong protective effect on nitrifying bacteria, the ammonia removal could be improved gradually with the highest removal rate of 71.71%. Partial backwashing affected less on ammonia removal and the removal efficiency could be restored to the previous level after the backwashing completed for 2.5 h.

The blast furnace water quenched slag has characteristics such as porous and superficial roughness, so it can be modified and cranked out a filter media. The treatment efficiency of domestic sewage with water quenched slag biological aerated filter (BAF) was researched in this paper. And the removal rate of organic compound, ammonium, SS, and chroma was also investigated. The results showed that the quality indexes of the domestic sewage after treatment met the primary standard of the national integrated wastewater discharge standard (GB8978-1996). So the purpose of the waste harnessed by other waste is achieved. The applicative prospect of blast furnace water quenched slag on domestic sewage treatment is very broad.

Abstract In order to meet the latest Environmental Protection Law of China on wastewater discharge standards, this paper studied a pilot-scale micro-flocculation filtration pretreatment process for the treatment of oilfield wastewater. The experiment showed that the removal rate of oil and suspended solids (SS) respectively increased from 91.52% to 95.38% and from 66.42% to 97.19%. After the treatment by the micro-flocculation filtration device, the relevant characteristics of the discharge wastewater satisfied the latest standards continuously. Moreover, the polyaluminum chloride (PAC) dosage was reduced from 200 mg/L to 100 mg/L (50 mg/L in micro-flocculation device and 50 mg/L in the cyclone reactor) at the same time. In order to decrease the degree of scaling in the filter, ceramsite was chosen as the filter material instead of quartz sand that is widely applied in the oilfields. The scaling experiment showed that the HCO3−, Ca2+ and Mg2+ contents in the extract from quartz sand after the scaling study were increased by 38.05, 35.91 and 0.28 mg/L, respectively. Meanwhile, the HCO3−, Ca2+ and Mg2+ contents in the extract from ceramsite were only increased by 13.14, 6.26 and 0.27 mg/L, respectively. Therefore, the ceramsite is not so prone to scaling as compared to quartz sand under identical test conditions, which avoided a hardened and impervious filter after operating for some time. These results suggest that the micro-flocculation filtration with the ceramsite as filter media is a suitable pretreatment process for the oilfield wastewater treatment.

Use natural zeolite to prepare spherical composite zeolite filter material. With range analysis, the composite zeolite filter material’s packing density is 674Kg/m3, cylinder compressive strength is 4.32MPa, and apparent porosity is 59.02%. Compared with ceramsite, composite zeolite filter whose surface roughness has larger specific surface area and higher porosity. At the start of biofilm formation and stability of the operational phase, composite zeolite filter Biological Aerated Filter (BAF)’s ammonia removal is better than ceramsite BAF, and its Biofilm biomass is higher, thus more proper to be the carrier of BAF.

A combined process of biological wriggle bed and ozone biological aerated filter was utilized to treat textile wastewater. Results showed that COD removal efficiency was almost 90.4%. The average effluent COD was 85.87 mg/L. The effluent colority was 64-32 times. This study indicated that the combined process is potentially useful for treating textile wastewater.
