The flow formulation is founded as console formulation first, and with the body-fitted coordinate system and standard turbulent model, the numerical simulation of the internal 3-D incompressible turbulent flow agitated flow field of submersible mixer is carried out by numerical simulation software Fluent. The results showed that: the mixer impeller produced vortex jet flow, the constant velocity lines advanced as ellipse, the velocity along the centerline are larger than others, and utilized volume flow to transport the liquid. And, by changing some design parameters of mixer impeller, we can compare and analyze the numerical simulation results and present some optimal methods.

The flow formulation was founded as console formulation, and with the body-fitted coordinate system and standard k - ε turbulent model, the numerical analysis of the internal 3-D incompressible turbulent flow of the agitated flow field was carried out by CFD software Fluent. The results showed that: the mixer impeller produced vortex jet flow, the constant velocity lines advanced as ellipse, the velocity along the centerline are larger than others, and utilized volume flow to transport the liquid. And, by changing some design parameters of mixer impeller, we can compare and analyze the numerical analysis results and find that: for the same impeller diameter, the mixer impeller whose hub/tip radius ratio is smaller has larger advancing speed in the agitated flow field, and the advancing speed is more evenly distributed, so the overall effect is better. Therefore, we should select the hub diameter of the submersible mixer properly.

Four types of Super Typhoon drip emitter with trapezoidal channel were selected out for the investigation of the flow field of the channel, and the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) method was applied to simulate the micro-field inside the channel. The simulation results showed that the emitter discharge of different turbulent model is 4%-14% bigger than that of the experimental results, the average discharge deviation of κ-ω and RSM model is 5, 4.5 respectively, but the solving efficiency of the κ-ω model is obviously higher than that of the RSM model.

The impeller of submersible mixer in some sewage treatment plant, whose parts are imported from other countries, is heavily abased. To solve this problem and realize domestic manufacture, based on reverse engineering theory, utilizing 3 coordinates measuring machine and applications of Surface and Pro/E, 3D solid model of impeller are gained. The gained impeller model accords with the physical one with high accuracy.

For flotation characteristics of complex sulfide mineral of low-tin in Guangxi Dachang mine, fluid dynamics software FLUENT was applied to simulate the turbulence intensity of slurry fluid in flotation machine at different inflation pressures. The effect of flow field characteristics was gotten for flotation machine. Simulation results show that the best inflation pressure was 120000 Pa.

The quantity of the cold store in our country has been rapidly rising since the 1990s, however, the flow field in the cold store is difficult to obtain accurately by experiments. With reference to the experiences in previous numerical simulations in this paper, CFD is used for analyzing two forms of return air in the cold store with the Finite Volume Methods and the SIMPLE Revised. As a result, Combining with the non-equilibrium wall function, it is found that taking the way of return air on both sides of the fan is more reasonable and the cooling consumption of the empty cold store can be saved before the products enter the cold store. Furthermore, the numerical simulation results can provide reference for choosing fans in the small cold store.

The gas flow field in the swirl tube was studied by experimental measurement and numerical simulation. The results show that the simulation results based on the Reynolds stress turbulent model is in good agreement with the measured results probed by the five orifice Pitot-tube. Meantime, it is analyzed that there is short cut stream at the end of the exit tube, and at the dust discharge jaws, the particles are prone to be re-entrained from the hopper. All results above provide a base for further research on the optimization of the structure and the improvement of the separation performance of the swirl tube.

In this paper, we investigate the hydrodynamics of swimmers with three caudal fins: a round one corresponding to snakehead fish ( Channidae), an indented one corresponding to saithe ( Pollachius virens), and a lunate one corresponding to tuna ( Thunnus thynnus). A direct numerical simulation (DNS) approach with a self-propelled fish model was adopted. The simulation results show that the caudal fin transitions from a pushing/suction combined propulsive mechanism to a suction-dominated propulsive mechanism with increasing aspect ratio ( AR). Interestingly, different from a previous finding that suction-based propulsion leads to high efficiency in animal swimming, this study shows that the utilization of suction-based propulsion by a high- AR caudal fin reduces swimming efficiency. Therefore, the suction-based propulsive mechanism does not necessarily lead to high efficiency, while other factors might play a role. Further analysis shows that the large lateral momentum transferred to the flow due to the high depth of the high- AR caudal fin leads to the lowest efficiency despite the most significant suction.

Gunpowder was released in an instant when the pill fly out of the shell during the firing, and then formed a complicated flow fields about the muzzle when the gas expanded sharply. Using the 2 d axisymmetric Navier-Stokes equation combined with single equation turbulent model to conduct the numerical simulation of the process of gunpowder gass evacuating out of the shell without muzzle regardless of the pill’s movement. The numerical simulation result was identical with the experimental. Then simulated the evacuating process of gunpowder gass of an artillery with muzzle brake. The result showed complicated wave structure of the flow fields with the muzzle brake and analysed the influence of muzzle brake to the gass flow field distribution.

We present numerical simulation results showing that high dielectric materials (HDMs) when placed between the human body model and the body coil significantly alter the electromagnetic field inside the body. The numerical simulation results show that the electromagnetic field (E, B, and SAR) within a region of interest (ROI) is concentrated (increased). In addition, the average electromagnetic fields decreased significantly outside the region of interest. The calculation results using a human body model and HDM of Barium Strontium Titanate (BST) show that the mean local SAR was decreased by about 56% (i.e., 18.7 vs. 8.2 W/kg) within the body model.
