The paper describes a type of serial running mode that boost pump provides water floating and the main submersible pump runs in a no-diving mode. The practice show that this mode can effectively solve the drainage problem at the inclined shaft under the condition of large water inflow and no track, and overcome the drainage problem under the coal slime silting condition. This mode also expands the application of high-power submersible pump theoretically.

The measurement of tunnel water inflow is not only an important basis for engineering design changes, but also an effective verification of design. This paper combines with the analysis of the measured data of groundwater of large water inflow section, which appeared in the construction of high-speed Jianfeng mountain super long tunnel in Fuling Fengdu, Chongqing city, and detailed information of hydrological survey results. This paper has re-evaluated the engineering geology and hydro-geological of large gushing sections to clear the reason of water inflow, the development trend characteristics of groundwater and stability of surrounding rock. It is shown in this paper that the measures such as strengthening the support parameters, optimizing the waterproof and drainaging design schemes, and other measures can be adopted to ensure the safety of tunnel construction and effectively realize the concept of dynamic construction.

This Paper introduced a water storage bucket chain conveyor cleaning machine used in coal mine to clean up the underground water storage, which was mainly made up of the mechanical structure and electrical control system. The mechanical structure consists of walking flatbed, walking drives, chain bucket conveyor. Here focuses on the special structure, the working principle, the work process, the electrical control system, the working condition, the main features and the purpose of the chain bucket convey-cleaning machine. The machine structure was reasonable, the stress was even, the vibration was small, the movement was steady. It can not only adapted to a large water content of coal slime, but also adapted to dry coal slime. It overcomes the low efficiency of spiral roller clearance dealing with the large water content of the slime and the weakness when vacuum suction-type pneumatic conveyor is to clean the dry slime.

Two agoras, or open-air public amphitheatres, were built during 1982 in the old port of the city of Québec. They are encased in uncontrolled backfill materials which were dumped during the last hundred years as the remodelled wharfs advanced into the St. Lawrence River. Old wooden wharfs were known to have been buried in backfill materials, and thus a large water inflow was expected to occur there and to depend on tide levels. The water inflows through the old wooden wharfs constituted less than 2% of the total infiltration, which reached a rate of 114 m3/min (25 000 gpm) at the highest tide. It was necessary to install a pumping system consisting of twelve 25-cm pumps connected to a collector 91 cm in diameter. The sources of these water inflows were determined with the help of old drawings, boreholes, water tests, and tracer tests. Most pumped water was coming through cobbles and boulders backfilled around a pressure sewer pipe 2.1 m in diameter. This note describes the work carried out to control the exceptional water inflows in order to complete construction within the required time. Key words: construction, dewatering, groundwater.
