In this paper, the influence of RAP content on pavement performance of hot plant recycling asphalt mixture is experimentally studied. The pavement performances contain high temperature stability, low temperature stability, water stability and fatigue resistance. Recovered asphalt was firstly extracted from RAP, and the properties of recovered asphalt was then tested and compared to normal 70# pavement asphalt. The gradation of recovered aggregate and new aggregate was then tested, and the mine material mixture gradation was determined. Marshall Test was adopted to determine the optimal asphalt content. The pavement performances show that the dynamic stability increases with RAP content increasing. The blending strain and fatigue life decreases while the stiffness modulus increases with the RAP content increasing. However, the residual stability and TSR show no obviously change with RAP content increasing.

Marshall test design methods are used to design TLA modified asphalt mixture and base asphalt mixture respectively, and their pavement performance is tested. The results showed that there is a transforming coefficient of 1.10 between optimum asphalt content (OAC) of 25% TLA modified asphalt mixture and that of base asphalt mixture, and TLA modified asphalt mixture has excellent high temperature stability, capacity of moisture-resistance damage and impermeability. Construction technology of TLA modified asphalt mixture is similar to that of ordinary asphalt mixture, but the key for it is to control construction temperature, uniformity and compactness of TLA modified mixture.

Because of the heating limitation of old pavement and the restriction of climate, the quality of hot in-place recycled pavement was different to control. The warm m,ix asphalt technology was introduced to improve the heterogeneity and compactness of the hot in-place recycled pavement and decrease its construction temperature. The compaction characteristics of warm in-place recycled asphalt mixture were analyzed and its molding temperature was determined through the Marshall test. The pavement performance of warm in-place recycled asphalt mixture was analyzed whose results indicated that the introduction of warm mix asphalt technology was able to improve the compactness, the high temperature stability and water stability of hot in-place recycled asphalt mixture and reduce the influence of environment over its construction quality. A warm in-place recycled engineering of Shian expressway was introduced to verify the feasibility of warm in-place recycling technology which demonstrated that the warm in-place recycling technology was able to improve the heterogeneity and compaction quality of the recycled pavement and weaken the environmental pollution.

Pure crumb rubber asphalt mixture using dry process has certain requirement of mineral gradation with the potential disadvantage of uneven mixing under the traditional temperature. In this paper the gradation design of asphalt mixture Sup-13 mixed with TOR and crumb rubber using dry process was studied with the Superpave design method, pavement performance of asphalt mixture including high temperature stability, cracking resistance at low temperature and water stability was tested in the experiment. Results show that Superpave design method is suitable for the research on the asphalt mixture of TOR and rubber, with getting moving stability 3682 times/mm, failure strain 2573.8με, residual stability 84.8% and the ratio of freeze-thaw splitting 80.1%. The performance is so good to meet the requirements for asphalt pavement performance.

It was based on laboratory test, in order to study on the high temperature stability, water stability and low-temperature crack resistance of AC-16 reclaiming asphalt mixture with different proportion of old material, this test takes into account 9 kinds of these asphalt mixture. The results show, with the old material blending ratio increased, the high temperature stability of asphalt mixture changed for the better, water stability and low-temperature crack resistance deteriorated. The pavement performance meet the requirements of secondary road or less, when old material content is within 70%. The research results provide reference for the application of reclaiming asphalt mixture.

Marshall test design methods are used to design TLA modified asphalt mixture and base asphalt mixture respectively, and their pavement performance is tested. The results showed that there is a transforming coefficient of 1.15 between OAC of TLA modified asphalt mixture and that of base asphalt mixture, and ultimate gradation of the TLA modified asphalt mixture is finer than previous gradation. TLA modified asphalt mixture has excellent high temperature stability, capacity of moisture-resistance damage and impermeability. So it can be applied to asphalt pavements engineering of expressway in China.

Asphalt mixture is often modified by adding modifier in order to improve the pavement performance such as high temperature stability, low temperature crack resistance and water stability. The author applies a new type of polyethylene modifying additive for asphalt mixture. The adding method of modifier is different from traditional method. Three modifiers were used in this study. It has been found that each modifier can improve the asphalt mixture performances. The author analyses the reason why modifying additive can improve asphalt mixture performances and give an advice to choose the type of modifying additive.

Cold mix asphalt mixture has a low strength and poor water stability, hence to solve this challenge, a cold mix asphaltic liquid was prepared in this study based on microscopic properties. LB-10 gradation was adopted and basalt fiber was selected as a reinforcing agent. The optimum asphaltaggregate ratio was determined by the Marshall test, and mix proportion was also designed. The laboratory tests were used to systematically evaluate road performance of the cold mix asphalt mixture. From the test results, it was shown that the initial strength, molding strength, immersion Marshall strength, residual stability, freeze-thaw splitting ratio, residual rate and dynamic stability of self-made cold mix asphalt mixture were 2.42 kN, 4.87 kN, 6.79 kN, 92.8%, 82.05%, 99.5% and 632 times/mm respectively. The initial strength, molding strength and residual stability of mixture became 90.9%, 88.7%, and 96.2%, respectively of their former values after one-month storage, showing good workability. By analyzing its research data and comparing with its existing products, the developed cold mix asphalt mixture can not only meet the requirements for road performances of the cold mix asphalt mixture in terms of strength, workability and high temperature stability, but greatly improves the water stability, storage stability and cohesive performance of the mixture.
