On-orbit servicing technology is a novel aerospace technology, which has important economic and military value. Reference to two on-orbit servicing programs named Orbital Express and Phoenix, the paper provides visual modeling and on-orbit module replacement simulation approach for a type of spacecraft based on satellite tool kit (STK). A kind of universal method for STK model building is presented, which includes multi-software model transformation and manual encoding. Some key problems about model integration and post processing, that helps complex STK model building, has also been summarized. An on-orbit replacement task simulation system based on co-simulation of MATLAB and STK can provide effective technical support for the aerospace program.

The authors describe the results of the research’s initial stage devoted to developing a multidimensional space-time model of the Arctic region, viewed as a voluminous area of space north of the northern latitude’s 60th degree, as well as new methods and tools necessary for the formation and functioning of this model. An idea of the nature and properties of the developed model is given. The substantive and logical structure of the model data, location of the sources for the most important characterizing features of the arctic areas; data coordination; methods and software; model building, projecting and integration of thematic data; modification and analysis of digital models, methods of reproduction and design options of virtual models geoimages are discussed. The article gives the examples of the model’s geoimages visualization. The research relevance and importance for the implementation of innovative approaches to the study, development and environmental management of the Arctic are highlighted.

Multiphysics numerical simulation (MPNS) has certainly acquired a wide acceptance in the modeling, designing and fabrication fields and has been validated for various research applications. But it is important that the method should be thoroughly understood by students of the various fields. Keeping this aim in view, we demonstrate here the MPNS process as applied in several fields, such as: electrostatics, mechanics, chemistry, heat transfer and fluid flow. Four tasks are performed for fifteen hours in order to analyze simulation approaches such as modeling with geometrical parameters, meshing, solution and post-processing methods. Convection, buoyancy effects, microfiltration and flow analysis are investigated. This comprehensive study will enhance appreciation of the basic concepts of design and dimensioning of an object in MEMS for engineers, and help to guide workers in these fields when performing these tasks.

Steady state and dynamic modelling and simulation of catalytic reforming unit of Kaduna Refining & Petrochemical Company, NNPC (Nigeria) was carried to find out the behaviour of the reactions under both steady and unsteady state conditions. The basic model together with kinetic and thermodynamic parameters and properties were taken from the literature but is developed in gPROMs (an equation oriented modelling software) model building platform for the first time rather than in MATLAB or other modelling platform used by other researchers in the past. The simulation was performed using gPROMs and the predictions were validated against those available in the literature. The validated model was then used to monitor the behaviour of the temperature, concentrations of paraffins, naphthenes and aromatics with respect to both time and height of the reactor of the industrial refinery of Nigeria. Hydrogen yield, Research octane number (RON) and temperature profiles are also reported. The components behave similarly in terms of reactions in the reactors but the time to attain quasi-steady state is different. The results are in good agreement with the industrial plant data.

Simulation soft wares of Multisim10 computers serve as significant tool for electronic technology designing as well as instructing. Among them, MCU module can realize microcontroller simulation. Lightening process of LED lights controlled by microcontroller 8051 as well as programming and simulation of KS0066 LCD is conducted by taking advantage of MCU module of Multisim. Fundamental operation and simulation approach of MCU module in Multisim10 are introduced. Expected requirements are realized through circuit designing and program simulation as well.
