Large-scale wind farms connected into main grid is accompanied by the reducing of the stability, reliability and security of the power system operation. So the risk cost becomes one of the important factors influencing the profit of transmission network expansion planning. This paper adopted the method of clustering wind power transmission. The objective function established in this paper reflecting the comprehensive benefits of transmission project defined the Pline (transmission capacity) as variable. In order to maximize the comprehensive benefits of the transmission project, the influence of transmission constructing cost, the congestion loss probably caused by a low transmission capacity as well as the cost of risk were taken into account. Calculation of risk is a very complex mixed integer nonlinear problem, so we used Monte-Carlo Simulation to solve this question. Example shoes that the proposed method can achieve optimal transmission capacity, transmission project benefit and planning.

Abstract Transmission network expansion planning (TNEP) is an important and computationally very demanding problem in power system. Many computational approaches have been proposed to handle TNEP in the past. The problem is mixed integer, large scale and its complexity increases exponentially with the size of the system. Metaheuristic techniques have gained a lot of importance in last few years to solve the power system optimization problems, due to their ability to handle complex optimization functions and constraints. Many of them have been successfully applied for TNEP. The biggest challenge in these techniques is the requirement of large computational efforts. This paper uses a two-stage solution process to solve the TNEP problems. The first stage uses compensation based method to generate a quick, suboptimal solution. The valuable information contained in this solution is used to generate a set of heuristics aimed at drastically reducing the number of population for fitness evaluations required in the 2nd stage with application of metaheuristic method. The resulting hybrid approach produces very good quality solutions very efficiently. Results for 24 bus and 93 bus test systems have been obtained with the proposed method to ascertain the potential of the method in comparison to earlier approaches.

Both the voltage critical clearing time (VCCT) and the voltage transient transmission capacity (VTTC) are always used to evaluate the stability of the system transient voltage, and their relationships are studied and clarified in the paper. The stability of the transient voltage is mainly depended on the dynamic reactive characteristics of load and the transmission characteristics of voltage and power. Based on the analysis on the dynamic reactive characteristics of load and the transmission characteristics of a power transmission network, the characteristics of the VCCT and the VTTC are studied in this paper. Finally, a conclusion, i.e. the margin of the VCCT and the VTTC has a nonlinear characteristic, is obtained by simulations on the actual power grid. According to the conclusion, the voltage stability cannot be exactly reflected by the VCCT margin.

This paper presents a modeling and solution approach to the static and multistage transmission network expansion planning problem considering series capacitive compensation and active power losses. The transmission network expansion planning is formulated as a mixed integer nonlinear programming problem and solved through a highly efficient genetic algorithm. Furthermore, the Villasana Garver’s constructive heuristic algorithm is implemented to render the configurations of the genetic algorithm feasible. The installation of series capacitive compensation devices is carried out with the aim of modifying the reactance of the original circuit. The linearization of active power losses is done through piecewise linear functions. The proposed model was implemented in C++ language programming. To show the applicability and effectiveness of the proposed methodology several tests are performed on the 6-bus Garver system, the IEEE 24-bus test system, and the South Brazilian 46-bus test system, presenting costs reductions in their multi-stage expansion planning of 7.4%, 4.65% and 1.74%, respectively.

With the scale of the wind farm growing fast, its impact on the power system has become increasingly apparent. So the research has a significant meaning on the characteristics of dynamic stability of the power system which contains wind farms, and the stable operation of the large area interconnected power grid. In this paper it realized the application of the double-fed wind turbine grid model by using power system analysis software PSD-BPA. The analysis of the generator power Angle curve which indicate the state after the failure of N-1 shows as follows: with the wind farms integration on the grid, the damping ratio is decreased slightly but little change after the system failure of N-1, which is still live up to the standard of grid stability.

In this study, we formulate mixed integer program for manufacturer and retailer system of poultry firm in Bangladesh that is one of the most promising sectors to increase Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate plus equitable distribution through arranging food security as well as ensuring self-employment, creating purchasing power and reducing poverty at a large scale. From the survey, it has observed that the selling price of eggs and chicken fluctuate depending on the natural calamities. We have made a question survey on some poultry firm in the district of Mymensingh and Gazipur. This paper maximized the profit and minimizes the cost. The formulated mixed integer program has solved by branch and bound algorithm using A Mathematical Programming Language (AMPL). It has observed that the profit and selling price have very good relationship with production cost and raw materials cost but no significant relation with fixed cost.GANIT J. Bangladesh Math. This paper presents a novel mathematical model for the transmission network expansion planning problem. Main idea is to consider phase-shifter (PS) transformers as a new element of the transmission system expansion together with other traditional components such as transmission lines and conventional transformers. In this way, PS are added in order to redistribute active power flows in the system and, consequently, to diminish the total investment costs due to new transmission lines. Proposed mathematical model presents the structure of a mixed-integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) problem and is based on the standard DC model. In this paper, there is also applied a specialized genetic algorithm aimed at optimizing the allocation of candidate components in the network. Results obtained from computational simulations carried out with IEEE-24 bus system show an outstanding performance of the proposed methodology and model, indicating the technical viability of using these nonconventional devices during the planning process.
