Due to the demographic change, hybrid work systems increasingly gain importance. Especially, robot based assistance systems show potential to respond individually to employee’s performance parameters. Existing technologies offer possibilities to capture individual performance parameters which can be transferred into a digital environment. Identified impairments, e.g. of the musculoskeletal system, can be used to design an individual work environment with human-robot collaboration that fits the employee’s needs to guarantee a low risk of physical harm due to work related strain. Following the employee’s capabilities, the simulation reveals stressful activities that can be transferred to the robot. Thus, the work system offers the opportunity to individually respond to the employee and the given tasks by creating a work situation that suits the employee’s preconditions. This paper presents an approach for capturing individual physical performance parameters in form of movement restrictions by a motion capturing system without markers and the transmission of the motion data into a digital human model. It will be shown how the simulation can be used to design a needs-based work place by integration of a robot based assistance system.

India is the second largest 2W market in the world in terms of sales volumes after China. Motorcycles types that are marketed using sports tag are found to be anchored on performance attributes characterized by visual appeal, higher speeds, heady acceleration and superior ride, handling and braking. The chronograph of the sports segment in the Indian market is plotted. A goal defined design process is developed to produce creative ideas for aesthetic attributes-modern, youthful, aerodynamic, and aggressive. The optimal solution satisfying the aesthetic goal is determined using an operation decision making model based upon weighted generalized mean method. A motorcycle is generally straddled by the rider with manual transmission and can be considered as a constrained workstation. Some ergonomic considerations to fit users of different sizes on the same workstation should be taken into account when designing. A two-dimensional anthropometric data collection approach is followed for riders in India. The obtained anthropometric data concerning riding postures are used for posture analysis using digital human model in CAD software. The mutual trade-off between sporty riding style of the rider and comfort angles have been arrived to set up the final posture of the rider. The detailing of the appearance considering the aesthetic attributes and ergonomics are done. The developed design is aimed at improving appearance and ergonomic performance.

Human carrying is simulated in this work by using a skeletal digital human model with 55 degrees of freedom (DOFs). Predictive dynamics approach is used to predict the carrying motion with symmetric and asymmetric loads. In this process, the model predicts joints dynamics using optimization schemes and task-based physical constraints. The results indicated that the model can realistically match human motion and ground reaction forces data during symmetric and asymmetric load carrying task. With such prediction capability the model could be used for biomedical and ergonomic studies.

Being universal phenomenon, stress is experienced in everyday human life especially among individuals who work in different industrial set-ups at various levels of jobs. With changing work expectations, competition & environment, increasing workloads and work place politics, stress has become an integral part of employees’ life and affects individual performance. Also, due to an employee’s psychological and physiological reactions to work situation factors directly or indirectly influence the stress to appears, as resultant. Though certain level of work stress instigates the efficiency of work in positive but more stress causes negative impact on individual employee and in turn to organization too. Employees handle such stress without letting it influence their performances but fail to do so with growing work stress beyond certain level. On organization side, it also depends upon type of industry and nature of competition faced by the organization in market. On individual side, this stress impact on performance varies with work experience, demographics and length of service years. In order or assess workplace stress and its influence on individual employee, this study is done on a garment manufacturing organization in India, which is prone to high work stress due to its competitive nature of business.
