Natural dye solution from longan leaves was applied to the simultaneous dyeing of silk fabric and using alum, copper sulfate, ferrous sulfate and stannous chloride as a mordanting agents. The dyeing properties and effects of simutaneous-mordanting on the hue, colour strength and colour value were revealed. The results show that The K/S values increased with an increase of metal mordant concentration. The mordant activity sequence was CuSO4> FeSO4> AlK(SO4)2 > SnCl2. The obtained colour values show that silk fabrics dyed without mordant exhibited dark brown colour, while those mordanted with aluminum potassium sulfate (alum), stannous chloride and copper sulfate showed a variety of medium to dark brown shades. With ferrous sulfate, the colour shade was darker and duller. The colour fastness results showed good to very good level.

In this research, the dyeing behavior of silk fabrics with lac was studied. The effect of different mordants concentration (potassium aluminium sulfate or alum, stannous chloride, ferrous sulfate and sodium chloride) with simultaneous mordanting procedures using pad-dry and pad-batch techniques on colour characteristics of the dyed samples was investigated. The colour fastness tests were washing and light of the dyed samples, the test results were determined according to the present ISO standard.The results show that silk fabric dyed without and with stannous chloride and sodium chloride mordant gave a shade of light pink, while those mordanted with aluminum potassium sulfate, had noticeably pink shade. The colour shade was light grey shades was obtained by adding ferrous sulfate mordant. The washing fastness property showed very poor level, while light fastness was fair level.

The present paper deals with the application of natural dye extracted from Garcinia Dulcis (Roxb.) Kurz bark on silk fabric by using post-mordant and pad-dry processes and also evalation of effect of metal modants as differnt concentration on dyeability, colour values (L*, a*, b*) and colour strength (K/S), and fastness properties. Silk fabrics dyed with Garcinia Dulcis (Roxb.) Kurz bark extract and stannous chloride (SnCl2) showed a pale yellow shade, while those dyed with alum (AlK(SO4)2 bright yellow colour. Silk substrates dyed with CuSO4 gave a yellowish-green colour, while those dyed with FeSO4 had a yellowish brown colour. The fastness properties showed fair to good rating, whereas the colour fastness to perspiration was at a poor level.

A natural colorant obtained from extraction of mangrove bark was applied on nylon fabrics via exhaustion process. Colorimetric data (CIE L*, a*, b* and K/S) were evaluated. Pre-, meta-and post-mordanting with different metal mordants (aluminium potassium sulfate, ferrous sulfate, copper sulfate, and stannous chloride) were also investigated. The colorant extracted from mangrove bark shows affinity to nylon fabric dyed without mordants. The highest color yield and uniform dyeing were obtained with post-modanting method.

Natural dye extracted from longan leaves was applied to a silk fabric by exhaustion dyeing process. Aluminium potassium sulfate, ferrous sulfate, copper sulfate, and stannous chloride were used as mordants. The dyeing was conducted with and without metallic salt mordants, using pre-mordanting method. Silk fabric dyed in a solution composed of a longan from leaves without mordant showed a shade of pale yellowish-brown, while those mordanted with stannous chloride, alum, and copper sulfate produced a variety of medium to dark yellowish-brown colour shades. However, duller and darker brown shade was obtained with ferrous sulfate mordant. The colour fastness to washing, water, and rubbing were good to very good. The light fastness results showed fair level.

Silk fabric was dyed with the colourant extracted from Laccifer Lacca Kerr. by using post-mordanting process and pad-dry technique. The effect of metal mordantats at different mordant concentration levels on their colour strength was also investigated. Silk fabrics dyed with Laccifer Lacca extract showed a light pink shade, while those dyed with alum and stannous chloride produces pinkish-red colour. Silk mordanted with CuSO4 gave a purple red colour, while those dyed with FeSO4 had a reddish-gray colour. The fastness properties ranged from fair to good, while washing fastness was poor level. The ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) values of silk fabric dyed with and without metal mordants ranged between good and excellent for dyed fabric.The results confirmed that natural dyes from Laccifer Lacca Kerr. extract have potential applications for silk fabric dyeing and producing ultraviolet (UV) protective silk fabric.

Natural indigo dye was applied on silk fabric by using pad-batch and pad-dry techniques in the present of thiourea dioxide and sodium hydroxide. Alum (AlK(SO4)2), ferrous sulfate (FeSO4), and stannous chloride (SnCl2) were used as mordants. The colour of each dyed fabric was investigated in terms of the L*, a*, b* and K/S values. The effects of different dye concentrations with the use of applying padding techniques in the dyeing process was investigated. The colour fastness to washing, light, rubbing, water, and perspiration of dyed silk fabrics was performed according to the present ISO standard. Silk fabric was dyed by using a natural indigo colourant, applying one with metal mordant and one without giving the silk fabric a blue shade. However, a greenish blue shade was found as a dyeing result by adding a ferrous sulfate mordant. The fastness properties of washing, water, perspiration, and rubbing were very good level. However, a fair rating level was observed using a light fastness dyeing technique.

A natural dye was isolated from the leaves of Henna . The extracted dye was applied to silk fabric, The dyeing effects of fabric without and with different mordants were investigated . The results showed that the dyeing of silk using the post-mordanting method with ferrous sulfate、 copper sulfate and alum、 rare earth not only provided better depth of shade but also provided better wash fastness and rub fastness than without mordant. In additon, green and orange silk can obtained selecting rare earth as mordant.
