In this paper, we proposed a new algorithm to estimate the direction of arrival (DOA) for wideband linear frequency modulation (LFM) signals, using Radon-Wigner transform (RWT) and estimation of signal parameter via rotational invariance techniques (ESPRIT). To eliminate the cross-terms, we first utilize the RWT with its excellent time-frequency concentration performance. Then, through peak searching, the number of targets, the initial interference and the frequency modulation slope are estimated. On the this base, the array signals are reconstructed. Finally, we adopt the ESPRIT algorithm to estimate the DOA of the array signals. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can estimate the DOA of non-stationary signals with high precision.

Abstract Gabor Wigner Transform (GWT) is a composition of two time-frequency planes (Gabor Transform (GT) and Wigner Distribution (WD)), and hence GWT takes the advantages of both transforms (high resolution of WD and cross-terms free GT). In multi-component signal analysis where GWT fails to extract auto-components, the marriage of signal processing and image processing techniques proved their potential to extract autocomponents. The proposed algorithm maintained the resolution of auto-components. This work also shows that the Fractional Fourier Transform (FRFT) domain is a powerful tool for signal analysis. Performance analysis of modified fractional GWT reveals that it provides a solution of cross-terms of WD and blurring of GT.

In this paper, we account for efficient approach of direction-of-arrival estimation based on sparse reconstruction of sensor measurements with an overcomplete basis. MSD-FOCUSS ( MMV Synchronous Descending FOCal Underdetermined System Solver) algorithm is developed against to sparse reconstruction in multiple-measurement-vectors (MMV) system where noise perturbations exist in both the measurements and sensing matrix. The paper shows how sparse-signal model of DOA estimation is established and MSD-FOCUSS is derived, then the simulation results illustrate the advantage of MSD-FOCUSS when it is used to solve the problem of DOA estimation.

A new fault diagnosis method to suppress cross terms of Wigner-Ville distribution (WVD) using Adaptive Short-time Fourier Transform (ASTFT) spectrum is put forward. The relationships of correlation between auto terms and cross terms of WVD are obtained theoretically by analyzing the WVD. Firstly, the signal ASTFT spectrum which can determine the signal component positions in the time-frequency plane is obtained. Then, the ASTFT spectrum as a window function is selected to process the signal WVD. Thus the cross terms can be effectively restrained. The simulation results show that a better resolution and more effective suppression of cross terms can be obtained. At last, the proposed method is applied to the fault diagnosis of bearing. The simulation and the experiment results indicate that the proposed method is effective in feature extraction.

An efficient direction of arrival estimation method is proposed. The proposed algorithm accurately estimates the instantaneous frequency of signals received by multiple sensors (array of sensors/antennas). The estimated instantaneous frequency is then used to separate sources and estimate their direction of arrivals. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method achieves better performance than the existing methods both in terms of computational requirements and localization accuracy. It is also shown that the proposed method can work in under-determined situations.

This paper proposes a switched-element direction finding (SEDF) system based Direction of Arrival (DOA) estimation method for un-cooperative wideband Orthogonal Frequency Division Multi Linear Frequency Modulation (OFDM-LFM) radar signals. This method is designed to improve the problem that most DOA algorithms occupy numbers of channel and computational resources to handle the direction finding for wideband signals. Then, an iterative spatial parameter estimator is designed through deriving the analytical steering vector of the intercepted OFDM-LFM signal by the SEDF system, which can remarkably mitigate the dispersion effect that is caused by high chirp rate. Finally, the algorithm flow and numerical simulations are given to corroborate the feasibility and validity of our proposed DOA method.

Interrupted-sampling repeater jamming (ISRJ) is a new kind of coherent jamming to the large time-bandwidth linear frequency modulation (LFM) signal. Many jamming modes, such as lifelike multiple false targets and dense false targets, can be made through setting up different parameters. According to the “storage-repeater-storage-repeater” characteristics of the ISRJ and the differences in the time-frequency-energy domain between the ISRJ signal and the target echo signal, one new method based on the energy function detection and band-pass filtering is proposed to suppress the ISRJ. The methods mainly consist of two parts: extracting the signal segments without ISRJ and constructing band-pass filtering function with low sidelobe. The simulation results show that the method is effective in the ISRJ with different parameters.

Estimating the Direction of Arrival (DOA) is a basic and crucial problem in array signal processing. The existing DOA methods fail to obtain reliable and accurate results when noise and reverberation occur in real applications. In this paper, an accurate and robust estimation method for estimating the DOA of sources signal is proposed. Incorporating the Estimating Signal Parameters via Rotational Invariance Techniques (ESPRIT) algorithm with the RANdom SAmple Consensus (RANSAC) algorithm gives rise to the RAN-ESPRIT method, which removes outliers automatically in noise-corrupted environments. In this work, a uniform circular array (UCA) is converted into a virtual uniform linear array (ULA) to begin with. Then, the covariance matrix of the received signals of the virtual linear array is reconstructed, and the ESPRIT algorithm is deployed to estimate initial DOA of the source signal. Finally, the modified RANSAC method with automatically selected thresholds is used to fit the source signal to obtain accurate DOA. The proposed method can remove the unreliable DOA feature data and leads to more accuracy of DOA estimation of source signals in reverberation environments. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method is more robust and efficient compared to the traditional methods (i.e., ESPRIT, TLS-ESPRIT).

Off-grid algorithms for direction of arrival (DOA) estimation have become attractive because of their advantages in resolution and efficiency over conventional ones. In this paper, we propose a grid reconfiguration direction of arrival (GRDOA) estimation method based on sparse Bayesian learning. Unlike other off-grid methods, the grid points of GRDOA are treated as dynamic parameters. The number and position of the grid points are varied iteratively via a root method and a fission process. Then, the grid gets reconfigured through some criteria. By iteratively updating the reconfigured grid, DOAs are estimated completely. Since GRDOA has fewer grid points, it has better computational efficiency than the previous methods. Moreover, GRDOA can achieve better resolution and relatively higher accuracy. Numerical simulation results validate the effectiveness of GRDOA.

In this paper, we propose the method which desired signal is estimated by updating the weight of the MVDR algorithm. The MUSIC algorithm is generally a lot of used in the direction of arrival estimation method. The MUSIC algorithm has a good resolution because of using subspace techniques consisting of a signal subspace and a noise subspace. The processor capability of drone system is required low power consumption and low computation complexity because it uses a microprocessor. If the drone system has a lot of computation complexity, the desired signal cannot be estimated. This paper study a method estimating the desired signal with a simple calculation. The proposed method is updated weight by the covariance matrix of MVDR algorithm. Through simulation, we analyse performance by comparing MVDR, MUSIC and the proposed method. In the simulation results, the proposed method is the same as the MUSIC algorithm in direction of arrival estimation. Since the proposed method has no subspace, it reduces computational complexity than MUSIC algorithm. The desired signal estimation of the proposed method is superior to the MVDR algorithm.
