In this work, study on impact damage FEM model of composite structure was performed. From the finite element method analysis results of composite laminate, it was confirmed that the results of analysis was reasonable. The velocity of impactor to initiate damage was estimated, and in order to investigate the damage at the predicted velocity, impact analysis using finite element method was performed. According to the impact analysis results of composite laminate, it was confirmed that the damage was generated at the estimated impact velocity. Finally, the comparison of the numerical results with those measured by the experiment showed good agreement.

Aimed at cantilever-type foil cylinder film seal system, finite element method analysis model was established to calculate the deformation of cantilever foil under the gas pressure based on the theory of plate bending. The paper proposed a method to solve fluid-solid interaction problems in cantilever-type foil cylinder film seal system based on the numerical analysis method of cylinder gas film seal. The calculation program using the finite element method to solve fluid-solid interaction problems was developed. Calculation simulation of the film mechanical properties and steady-state performance of sealing system was realized which improved the accuracy of the sealing system performance analysis and provided the basis for the multi-parameters matching design of sealing system. The impact of adding cantilever foil support structure to the steady-state performance of sealing system and the influence of flexible support parameters on the steady-state performance of the sealing system was calculated through the method.

The purpose of the study is to assess through a FEM (Finite Element Method analysis), the behavior of a complex structure (enamel-tooth-alveolar bone-periodontal ligament-pulp), subjected to an external load through an orthodontic bracket-with forces of various intensities and to determine its influence on the entire structure. It is necessary to analyze the way all elements of the structure take over the external action given by the action of an orthodontic appliance through the brackets and the influence on the inner component -the pulp-inside of which there are the nerve endings.

Pipeline on-bottom stability is one of the sophisticated problems in subsea pipeline design procedure. Due to the uncertainty of the pipe-soil interaction and environment loads, including wave, current, or earthquake, etc., it is classified as the typical nonlinear problem. The Finite Element Method is introduced into pipeline engineering several years ago. More and more special engineering software such as AGA, PONDUS are available in market. However, when doing a project, some abnormal data was found when compared the DnV calculation results and AGA. In order to know the behavior of pipeline on seabed under wave and current load, finite element method – ABAQUS is introduced to do this analysis. The ABAQUS/explicit is used to simulate 600s pipeline dynamic response. The pipeline is supposed to be exposed on seabed and the selected seabed model is large enough to avoid the edge effect. ABAQUS calculation results are compared with the requirements in DnV rules to verify the validity of finite element model.

With a certain actual lime-soil pile composite foundation project for background, the Finite Element Method (FEM) model of composite foundation was carried out by using the Drucker-Prager theory and ANSYS FEM procedure. By imitating the status of composite foundation under the construction load and analyzing the factors such as stress, settlement, stress ratio between pile and soil, carrying capacity of composite foundation with lime-soil pile has been gained. The conclusions offer some beneficial references to design and construction of actual projects.

The article deals with an optimization procedure of roller elements geometry with regard to durability of spherical roller bearings. The aim of the article is to examine the impact of change of the roller elements inner geometry on durability and reliability of spherical roller bearings; the contact strain along a spherical roller by means of the Finite Element Method at contact points of components of a spherical roller bearing by means of designed 3D parametric models. The most appropriate shape of roller elements inner geometry of a bearing from the standpoint of calculated durability was determined based on results of the contact analyses.

Abstract Concerning the development of portable optical disk products, higher impact resistant of the optical pick-up is required. Conventionally, cut and try measures, mainly based on experiment were applied to these problems, and it took much time and cost. Therefore, we developed this drop impact analysis of the optical pick-up based on the Finite Element Method (FEM) and clarified the failure mechanism of the suspension wire breaking with drop impact. With this analysis method, we also developed a new optical pick-up with a curved suspension wire, and realized much higher impact resistance.
