This paper proposes a method for determining the time at which the temperature of surface of a gauge block will be established. The relationship between the temperature of a gauge block, its length and the value of uncertainty of measurement when calibrating using this block was explained. Attention was paid to problems resulting from the applied measurement method. Particular attention was paid to thermal imaging observations of the lateral surface of a gauge block

Abstract This article attempts to solve the problem of load compensation in mesh planetary gearing, with the innovative design idea, resulting from the increased plasticity of the planet wheels (satellite). The cognitive main objective of the experimental work was carried out to identify the comparative effect of the split narrow planet gears, on the load distribution on the length of the teeth of the planet gears of the central wheel of the planetary gear. Achieving this aim, in addition to in-depth analysis, requires experimental research on a specially-built test stand and simulation tests on a solid model of the transmission using the finite element method (FEA). This article presents the concept of a novel test stand, design methodology and research on the influence of the sectional satellite wheels on the load mesh of planetary gears in mining machines.

This paper proposed a multiple-objective algorism based on target space partitioning and demonstrated its evolution and optimization. The result showed that this algorism is effective in keeping the even distribution and convergence of the solutions. This paper also proposed an innovative design idea for algorism computation – the concept of tolerance is introduced and by adopting the double-population storage mechanism, the algorism's overall optimization capability is improved.

Ultramicrotomists live in a state of guerilla warfare with chatter. This situation is likely to be permanent. We can infer this from the history of machine tools. If set the wrong way for the particular combination of cutting tool and material, most if not all machine tools will chatter. In more than 100 years since machine tools became common, no one has evolved a practical recipe that guarantees avoiding chatter. Rather than follow some single very conservative rule to avoid chatter in all cases, machinists detect it when it happens, and change conditions until it stops. This is possible because they have no trouble telling when their cutting tool is chattering. They can see chatter marks, and they can also hear a sometimes deafening noise.
